I was considering getting the new Chronological Study Bible from Thomas Nelson Publishing at $105 a few days ago. Just got it for $84 - not bad!

Be kind folks. The strangers on this forum are here to discuss whether these products can be found cheaper elsewhere. Let this be the one time discussion doesn't degenerate to an irreconcilable clash of worldviews - nobody is going to be convicted to change their core beliefs on a bargain forum.

tldr: treat others how you would like to be treated. Not in retaliation for how you feel you have been slighted.

    thanks OP!

Same reason you don’t want to read a vegan rant on a meat deal, or a keto rant on discount pasta. Stick to the bargains here - if you want to attack other people’s worldview, faith (or lack thereof) there’s always reddit.

People post health rants on McDonald's deals, they talk boycotts and ethics on Nestle deals, jokes and memes on all deals. People are even free to speak their mind on gender ideologies here. So what makes Koorong/church related deals so special? Koorong itself sells loads of books attacking gay people and advocating them being denied the right to marrying the same sex. They sell books attacking other faiths, churches in general regularly attack other faiths. I could find loads of quotes from churches/church leaders doing so, and I could find loads of material Koorong sells which does so as well.

Koorong sells books that advocate gays hating their same sex attraction, telling them they should live celibate lives https://www.eternitynews.com.au/in-depth/gay-celibate-and-fu…

Seems that Koorong is allowed to "attack" others all they wish, but when it comes to turning the looking glass towards Christianity itself suddenly open critical discussion is off limits? Suddenly it's going too far to point out aspects of the organisation/belief system that would cast it in a negative light? But we are free to dump on Amazon's ethics of their business practices, we are free to openly talk about McDonald's profiting off making people fat, or slam Uber for profiting off predatory percentages of member restaurants.

Koorong/churches attack other people's worldview on the regular. It's hypocritical to tell us it's off limits to turn a critical eye towards Koorong/churches themselves.

Because freely advertising religious material is totally innocuous.

Never forget that deal #1 was a Koorong deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/1

    • +2

      wow, nice pickup.

    • +1

Yes, it is public knowledge that benevolent overlord scotty of Ozbargain is a Christian.

    • -1

Wait wait wait, is Scotty a Christian!?

        • +1

Wow, so first he's not even Scottish, and now he's not even an atheist doctor star trekking through space on an intergalactic spaceship. My whole worldview is being challenged right now.

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: Yet if he becomes a saint there's even more reason to be saying, "Beam me up, Scotty!"

      far left

      makes sense…

        • technically and statistically you're wrong :) still 43.9 out of 100 said they're Christian. 38.9% said they had no religion, and if you read further, there are strong correlations between "no religion" and immigrants from Asian countries, which is reasonable given that Christianity is not majority in most Asian countries.

          • -1

@mrdng: Well technically you're wrong because there's a trend of non-practising "religious" people moving towards agnosticism and atheism. It's a generational thing too.
This last census I was entered as Christian but I'm agnostic.

            • @Techie4066: Then your impact on the numbers is about 1/20,000,000 ~ 0.0000005%

People move and change all the time. What I'm stating is the factual statistics at least we know for now :)

Stating that "we're all far left" is basically too far from fact. That's all I want to point out.

              • -1

It's a hyperbolic response to a ludicrous throwaway comment.

And I'm for sure not one in 20mil, don't you worry.

It's amazing how so many people openly attack people's views and beliefs about Christianity and it's "acceptable"… yet, if someone attacks LGBTIQ+ etc. it's hate speech and condemned.

    • -1

      Yeah LGBTIQ+ is a belief

      • -1

Where did they say it was?

        • -1

Equating sexual orientation to religious beliefs? You need that spelled out?

          • -1

@Techie4066: Yes, can you spell out where they said or even implied that LGBTIQ+ is a belief? I think your preconceived notions might be affecting your objectivity.

            • -1

              @tryagain: Right back at you.

It's amazing how so many people openly attack people's views and beliefs about Christianity and it's "acceptable"… yet, if someone attacks LGBTIQ+ etc. it's hate speech and condemned.

              They can't even be compared.

              • -1

@Techie4066: Well they aren't suggesting they are comparable in every way, to read that into it would be ludicrous, they are comparing the acceptability of attacking someone's views and beliefs about Christianity, vs someone who attacks LGBTQI+, etc. You can easily compare the acceptability of "attacking" between otherwise dissimilar groups.

They never claimed that LGBQTI+ is a belief, and that assertion is purely what I questioned and what I am still waiting for to be spelled out. You seem to be going on a tangent due to your preconceived notions, and missing what I actually queried

By the way, LGBTQI+ encapsulates more than sexual orientation, so logic would dictate they aren't comparing to sexual orientation.
