Would I need this if I have Microsoft Security Essentials already installed ? What additional benefits would it give me ?

    • A sad panda. Not quite literally, but you shouldn't use 2 antiviruses at once. Either stick with MSE, or uninstall it and go with Panda.

The internet security suite has additional firewall, spam filtering, sandboxing etc. all fairly useful features but unless you set it up properly or know how to use it, there's no point in having the whole Internet security shebang — the antivirus is good enough for most users.

  • Thanks MSE works for me, no need to hog the resources

  • Paying for internet security makes UFO a very sad panda.

Plenty of free options out there folks.

  • You do get more with a paid antivirus (for example better browsing security). Panda is reasonable (particularly at that price). Others I like are Kaspersky and Emsisoft.

If you only use a free one at least have Malwarebytes and Emsisoft installed in free mode for the occasional manual scan (good idea to have that with any antivirus setup).

  • I personally use AVG free or Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows 7 machine. There is however one paid security program I believe that every Windows machine should have, and that is Malwarebytes Pro. You only have to pay $25 and you have a license for life (from memory), it is well worth the money, if you are serious about protecting your computer.
