Pretty good price if you want that colour (or don't care).

Got one a few bucks cheaper EOFY but this feels about as cheap as these get.

I can't decide between this model or the Kenwood of XL Chef Baker.

Or just the Kenwood XL Chef.

I'll mostly be using it for dough/baked goods. Any recommendations?

    • Assuming this is for home use, they all will do the same job

It’s a matter of styling and accessories

they all will do the same job

Not exactly. Some handle larger batches of dough much better than others.

        • so which one would you recommend @flyerone?

@tesla: There is no easy answer. It depends what you want the mixer for. I bake cakes sometimes (maybe 1 a week) but I also make Napolitano style pizza dough at about 2kg a batch.

If it is for soft batters like for cakes, softer mixtures or even small dough batches say less than about 1kg or so mixed weight then the KitchenAid is lovely to use. If you mix larger quantities of stiffer dough like I do then you will need a stronger mixer like either the pro series Kitchenaid or the Chef XL Titanium or Baker. I bought the Chef XL after being not satisfied with the Artisan for dough in the hope of saving myself from buying a dedicated spiral dough machine like a Famag which run at about $2,200. At the time of the Chef XL deal for $380, it was a no brainer and I like that the Chef has a quite low profile where the pro Kitchenaid machines are quite tall.

    • I mean… they’ll both do the job.

We went the ksm for the Instagram appeal HAHA

Kenwood usually gets your more power per dollar and if you are doing lots of dough you would want that. I am not sure about all of the current models, but it is worth comparing.

This mixer would be fine for the occasional pizza dough, but if you are using it multiple times a week, it will soon wear out.

I have this mixer and I bought the Chef XL Elite from this deal and although the KA is nicer on the bench, in terms of power and capacity the Chef wins hands down. The mixing tools in that deal are all highly polished stainless steel. I may sell the Kitchenaid (although my wife loves it) because the Kenwood handles pizza dough, which I do regularly, much better than the KA.

      Thermomix

    • not sure if you repair stuff yourself, but kitchen aide parts are easy to get …..also 3rd part accessories for kitchen aide ….like all stainless steel mincer rather than cast aluminium body ….

KA if you're happy with doing less than 1.1kg of dough, Kenwood if you want to do more. Just keep in mind that the KA will last significantly longer 95% of the time - provided you adhere to that limitation.

Kenwood have a larger variety of accessories, but KA's is decent too.

    • My Kenwood xl chef handles dough very well. Can't comment on KitchenAid.

  • I bit the bullet. My current mixer's older than I am, time for a well-earned retirement.

  • These still made in the U.S.A?

    • KitchenAid manufactures in both USA and China, and chooses to sell the cheap, China-made models through retailers like Amazon.

    • This one will have been made in the USA.

Currently unavailable now…must have missed it.

  • if it was plain white i would have jumped at it ….yes colour does matter ….

  • Mine fell off the kitchen bench while mixing pizza dough and still going strong, what a beast 🤣

  • I got the Smeg with ice cream maker from the good guys clearance $544. Paired with $80 store credit and $70 off $550.
