  • Great deal. Got one from Appliances Online for a similar price but they took about 3 months to deliver. David Jones a much better choice

    • RRP $999? Has anyone ever bought one at that price? It's usually always available at about half that price somewhere.

  • How do you know which items get an extra discount?

  • Is this going to be okay for pizza dough or will it disappoint?
I see there is an aftermarket S hook available which I can't get for the Kitchenaid Artisan.

Edit: It looks like it comes with an S hook actually.

    • +4

It won't disappoint and IMO is the best option at this price point.

      • +2

Okay I have pulled the trigger. At this price if it doesn't give me the result I want I am sure I can get my loot back selling it used.

        • I use a model below it (chef sense XL) for 1+kg focaccia dough mixing, which it does like a champ. it'll handle pizza dough for sure

Looks like it already comes with a dough hook.

      • Yeah and in stainless too, I guess that what is what the S in KVL6300S denotes. Giddyup.

        • +1

The letter actually only denotes the colour of the unit. S for silver, B for blue, G for green etc.

    • +1

      Yeah easy.

  • +1

    Very good price.

  • Got one. Cheers OP.

  • +3

Very good alternative to a kitchen aid, I've used one of these for about 5 years in a restaurant I use to work in. never broke down probably still going.

    • +3

I'm using an a701a that's over 50 years old; those things are bomb proof

  • Any way to know what attachments come in this purchase?

  • +5

This is actually a very very good deal!! I paid $550 for mine about 5 years ago.

Usually kitchen appliances only increase in price. All attachments are stainless steel not plated on this model.

It's actually better than a kitchenaid as no glass bowl and all attachments are dishwasher safe.

    • I paid around $470 with previous Bing Lee deal.

  • Awesome! Got one for the missus.

  • Cheers, pulled the trigger on this.

  • +6

This is a powerful machine at 1400W. Much better than the 300W KitchenAid KSM160 which was on sale for $558 recently https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/706476

    • Kenwood uses stronger motors because the mixer is indirectly powered compared to the direct drive mixer of a Kitchenaid. This is why a Kenwood needs more Watt to achieve the same mixing strength. Direct drive technology is substantially more durable and therefore more expensive compared to an indirect drivechain, hence Kitchenaid would be the more sustainable investment.

      • +1

Kenwood Chef's have been proven to be extremely reliable over decades. You only need to read through these comments for examples. I think you statement on "sustainable investments" is wrong.

        • +2

          c'est la vie
          wrong is the wrong word
I was simply stating that "1400w. Much better than 300w" is misleading
          maybe even "wrong"
If you bought one, well done. They are both very good machines according to all the reviews etc.

          • +2

@hack: "I was simply stating that "1400w. Much better than 300w" is misleading"

            Ok that's fair.

      • +1

It's worth watching AvE's teardown of a Kitchenaid on YT.

He's not easily impressed, and the KA motor impressed him. "Only" 300W, but torque up the wazoo.

        • Just watched it again.
Firstly it kills off the idea that KitchenAid is direct drive… What's the gearbox doing there if it's direct drive?
Not that I think Direct Drive drives much of an argument given the power difference we're talking about.

Secondly, his teardown is for the 1hp/750W version which goes for $1000+ here.
It's a Pro-sumer grade machine, at roughly 3x the price. Yeah, I expect it to be pretty decent.
You can tell cause he mentions the 1hp rating, it has the arms to hold the bowl and you can see how big it is when he puts his big mitts on it and it still looks huge..

Thirdly, I note that they over-clock the motor by 3x versus its rating of 125VDC @2.1A, ie 250W, so they're running up to 6A through it to achieve the max 1hp/750W.
That's fine provided you don't run it maxxed out for too long I guess, which seems likely.

But it seems to me that it makes the argument for the 300W KitchenAid even more sketchy… If they rate a nominal 250W motor as 750W in this machine, what's the nominal rating on their Household Grade 300W machine? 100W maybe?

Even if Kenwood are doing the same (or 4x) overclocking, the difference is truly enormous, mechanical losses can't get close to making them comparable.

          Finally
          Torque x Revs = Power

If you have lots of output torque, you're sacrificing output revs at a set power limit.
a 1400W motor can have the same torque and 4x the revs assuming the same motor and gearbox efficiency.
More Revs = more mixing in less time.

  • This is a great price for all stainless attachments. Jealous! Is the pasta attachment (2nd image) included?

    • Nope that's extra, one of the many optional attachments

    • If you want a pasta machine you'd just buy a Marcato atlus.

      • Oh I have most of the kenwood pasta attachments, including the pasta shaper with brass dies. I was just curious about the inclusions for this unit.

5 mints ago I had no idea I would buy this but I got in. Is that called impulse buying or OZB spirit?

    • Same here👍

    • Same here lol. No idea what I gotta do with it but it's a good bargain

      • Make bread, make pizza dough.

      • Hey well if you change your mind and decide you don't need it…. hmu, I'd be happy to buy it off you XD

  • Got one, thanks

  • Got one, thanks.

  • +1

    Thanks for sharing OP

Best present to buy for a great cook - this way she's guaranteed to make me some awesome treats :D

  • +1

Yolo'd in. Was not expecting to do this tonight. Ozb primal spirit took over

  • +2

Great deal, picked it up to replace my old 70's one before the motor finally dies.

Anyone found a a decent deal on any of the attachments? Food Processor/Blender would be nice to have. Peters of Kensington ebay is the cheapest I've found at $173.24 for the pair.

  • Oh No! None left :(

  • +1

Thanks! Finally bought one after price tracking and pussyfooting for close to two years. For anyone interested, Chef Elite xl is very similar but slightly better version of Chef sense xl with stainless steel blades, which makes them dishwasher safe.

  • +3

Think out of stock. Would not let me add to cart. “ Sorry, this colour / size combination is not currently available.”

  • Got a Kenwood Kmix already, but this is a much beefier machine.
Hopefully wife approves of impulse replacement/upgrade :)

  • Will they be oos in stores that show stock on their website for "find in store"?

    • Extra discount is online only.

  • Thanks OP must have been one of the lucky last to get one. I was looking at mixers on Amazon when I happened to check OzB. Cheers for this post.

  • Drove to the store to pick one up and they wouldn't honour the online price, didn't see it was online only and now it's sold out. Bought David Jones gift cards on the way to the store too!

    • +8

Bought David Jones gift cards on the way to the store too!

very very bold move when it comes to DJ's
Its a 50/50 whether they'll ship something in the first place

    • Where do you get discounted DJ gift cards? There's nothing listed on the GC wiki.

      • Not discounted, they were through my work as a reward system. I had a few hundred $ worth and you choose your gift card and they send it to you

  • +2

One of the best ozb bargains of the year so far IMO.

  • +1

no idea what is it and never do baking, but still got one. Guess its time to learn

  • Really annoyed, I want it

  • Is there a mincer attachment for these?

  • Fomo

    • I am my own property.

On a serious note, I’m upset I saw this deal too late.

  • +1

Just got an email saying that DJ wont be honoring the purchase, GG.

    • Interesting. I haven't received that email yet. Checking my order status it says "At Dispatch".

    • Because they ran out of stock or due to price error?

      • +2

Our current system measures mean that some details are checked prior to dispatch. Unfortunately I do not have any further information regarding this as this was a system cancellation. I'm sorry that this has been an inconvenience.

This is the reason im getting however im sure its not the case.

  • Looks like it might still be available if you get rid of the "?nav=930027" o the end of the URL.

    https://www.davidjones.com/product/kenwood-kvl6300s-kenwood-…

    • Doesn't actually work when you try to add to cart

  • This is still available - I just bought one for $381.

I'll post here if it gets cancelled.

  • +1

Looks like it's back with 20% off making it $436…
Didn't know I wanted one so bad until I missed the first price, now I'm conflicted with it being a little more.

  • +2

It's 436 now with only 20% off but I got one anyways, was looking to drop 500+ on KitchenAid and prefer the stainless steel attachments on this. Thanks OP!

    • Just got the order cancellation… boo they can't fulfill the order…

  • mine shows 'shipped' now

  • This is the msg I got from DJs customer support.

On the rare occasions an item at our Fulfilment Centre may be damaged or missing and we will only find out when we go to pick your order.

Although we do try to ensure that our stock system is accurate, on this occasion we were regrettably unable to locate the stock to complete your order. We do sincerely apologise for the frustration caused.

Please advise that due to system limitations we do not have the functionality to create a replacement order for you. therefore we are automatically issue a refund back to your payment method.

  • +1

Damaged stock, yeh right. Nice one DJ's

  • +2

    Yeah, my order cancelled too…

And yet still accepting new orders… Morons.

    • Pick up or delivery?

      • Yeah I was just able to place an order for one at $436. Delivery only allowed it said. Will see if it gets fulfilled.

Was about to spend money on a kitchen aid a while back so $436 is still good for me

      • Delivery. Checked with them via chat, def no stock. Removing from site soon (not sure why so hard)

        • Because it’s DJs IT; always shit

  • I just got notified that it's shipped and got a tracking number!

  • My status says: At Dispatch.
    Sounds promising???

  • +7

Got order cancellation email this morning and I was pretty pissed as website was still accepting orders. Tracked down stock in store, asked them to put it on hold and drove 1.20 mins (roundtrip) to pick it up. Showed the order cancellation email and asked them to honour to original sale price and they did! So 30 mins on the phone + 1h20mins trip to get the bargain!

For anyone in victoria, Malvern Central and Bourke Street stores have 2+ in stock as of Saturday 18/06 12pm. Chadstone, Highpoint also had stock. The Glen, Doncaster and Eastland didn't. Call the store, put it on hold and if you have an order cancellation email with $381.51, get them to honour it. Else you can still get at $445, which still is a great price for this model!

    • +1

Sounds like I'll be trying that tomorrow morning. Fortunately I am much closer.

  • No joy, DJs always disappoints. Worst part is being told via chat they were all out Friday and then store telling me they sold the last one yesterday.

Not sure how they stay at in business.

  • +1

Just got an email saying "We’re sorry to let you know that we are unable to fulfil this order."

But it's back on their website for $999?

Should I take this to the ACCC?

    • They don't have stock, just incompetentance.

  • Just received an email with:
"This is an email to let you know that we are still on track to progress your recent Order XXXXXXXX.

Rest assured, our team are working hard to get your order to you as soon as possible, and you will receive an email with tracking details once your order has been dispatched.

    We appreciate your patience!"

Looking good, unfortunate some others are having the order cancelled.

    • Is that from DJ's or Auspost?
Mine says that the item is received and ready for processing but has been that way since 6.28pm last Friday.

      • nvm received today

  • My unit has now been delivered.

    • Same

  • Anyone from Melbourne received their order yet?

    • Mine arrived this evening. Eastern suburbs.

      • Thanks, I just received an email from Australia Post that my parcel is delayed.

  • Mine just arrived - Perth
