Amazon have dropped their price on this CPU to match other stores and works out cheaper than the Centre Com deal due to having no payment surcharge and free delivery nationwide. Unfortunately it seems this will dispatched in 1-2 months though.

It has 8 cores, 16 threads, offers similar performance to a 5800X and runs cooler. Alternatively you can pick up the 6 core, 12 thread Ryzen 5600 for $229 from this deal.

Great deal, even better if stacking with discounted gift cards

Good deal, it's a shame that Amazon didn't have much stock, personally I don't think the 1-2 month wait is worth saving an extra $4

    • +3

Those wait times are very conservative and almost never the case. Yesterday the wait time for this was 1-2 months and they had stock this morning for immediate delivery.

      • I saw that yesterday as well when it was the higher price, there were four in stock this morning.

That's good if that's been your experience with backorders from them recently (:

I've also ordered items with month long backorders from Amazon previously and they've taken the estimated time to come in.

There have also been a few times where the order was cancelled because they didn't recieve more stock. Guess it depends on what the item is and how far away supply is.

  • Hopefully 5950X deals are not far away…

  • Big big Tempt, anyone gone from 3600x to this, if so thoughts?

Check out a few Hardware Unboxed videos. They don't have a direct comparison between 3600X and 5700X, but you can infer the kinds of gains you would get from some of their videos. In terms of gaming, the upgrade makes more sense if you have a high-end graphics card. Systems with low to mid-range cards won't be able to take advantage of the jump in CPU power. You might only get single digit percentage performance gains for the $369 spend.

      Wait for 5800X3D price drops.

    • 3600x to 5600x show noticeable improvements, so should be in that same ballpark

12600kf is $20 more but way better performance in gaming. Why wouldnt I get a 12600kf? Serious question I'm currently only missing a mobo+CPU for my new build.

    • +6

You probably wouldn't, unless you already had a compatible mobo. For those with existing systems it can be a decent upgrade.

    • only reason to buy amd rn is either if you alr have the motherboard, intels price is too high including cooler, or intel uses too much power
or if your looking at the 5800x3d, or a 5950x

    • Cause Intel are never backwards compatible

  • comes in 1-2 months? Wouldnt the new cpus come out by then

    • +3

Might arrive next week. Thats the thing with backorders. Plus you can always cancel if it hasn't shipped.

  • Better value per pair-of-cores than the 5600x prices going around.
