  • Seconds after I nabbed the amazon au $377, oh well. I expect the amazon one to be faster delivery to Brisbane, still tempted to cancel

    • +1

Amazon free delivery. Still cheaper than this and faster. Also Amazon warranty is decent. However, I'd still cancel if the price difference is close and I'm not in a rush. Cancel to give smaller companies a chance.

      • Yeah after noticing the surcharge, it's hardly worth the $4 diff

        • In my experience I will always prefer Amazon if the price difference isn't day and night. Small players in the computer hardware space just aren't that satisfying, especially the long handling time.

Got one of these for $390 :).. happy with the upgrade from a 3700X as i only really played games.. the 5700X uses less power so it was a win/win.. sold my 3700X for $250… wanted a 5800X3D but it would be using more power and at the time cost $670

    • What’s your motherboard? No VRM issues ?

      • MSI B550 Mortar.. AMD Master states max power usage at 49w :) dont have to think about VRM on any motherboard unless using over 100W + overclocking

So long as the bios supports the new chip at the vender website its good to update and install new CPU

        • Awesome! I have a MSI x570 gaming edge with a 3800x

I wanted a 5900/5950x but apparently this is one of the worst boards VRM wise…

So I said Allg and might cop a 5700x

5800x3d was an option but so much more expensive and I play at 1440p with a 6700xt GPU.

          Decisions decisions ..

    • Very interesting. I am in the same boat with 3700x I am very happy with. No real need to upgrade but the itch is definitely there that too with these awesome prices!

But is it really worth it as I dont see much improvement in the benchmarks?

        CS Go
        3700X = 1440P Gaming = 242FPS
        5700X = 1440P Gaming = 344FPS

        Cyberpunk
        3700X = 1080P Gaming = 133FPS
        5700X = 1080P Gaming = 172FPS

If your gaming its a bit of a jump.
I upgraded because I'm happy with the LOW power draw of these chips and i dont think we will get that with the new stuff coming out. I also sold my old CPU for $250

        • how much power does it use? did you undervolt?

          • @vash12: it sits at 49w MAX usage all cores according to ryzen master.. when i undervolted it using The PBO under volt method in the MSI Bios settings it was still sitting at 49w but the Mhz was up around 400Mhz

I put it back to stock settings as i dont want to risk any crashes.. even though it was stable i dont trust it

Did the same thing on my 5600 Revision B1 and it sits at 54w max load and using PBO under volt method in the MSI Bios settings brings it down to 49w and the core boost to around 300Mhz… again this was stable but put it back to stock anyways.

            the 5600 runs on a MSI B550 Tomahawk 64GB 4x16 Dual Rank DDR4 3200 CL16
            and the 5700x runs on a MSI B550 Mortar 32GB 4x8 Single Rank DDR4 3600 CL16

  • Does this come with integrated graphics card?

    • +1

No. The G CPUs do but have less power than their counterparts without it.

      • And the difference in power consumption between the G and non G? marginal I'm guessing?

    • No. But here is the problem, unlike intel CPUs where model with and without the F suffix have same performance, AMD APUs iGPU is much more powerful, but at the cost of much steeper performance dive compared to similiarly named CPUs-in this case, the difference between 5700x and 5800x is not large, but there is a very significant difference from 5700x to a 5700g, which have an iGPU.

I would only recommend AMD APUs in machines where you know you are not going to get an dGPU, otherwise go with the 5700x for certain.

  • That is a great price for what the 5800x should have been. Excellent performing, cool running CPU.

  • +2

AMD to launch Ryzen 7000 in September confirmed? :o
Now pls also drop mobo prices. The prices on those have gone up $50-100 since EOFY sale.

  • Isn’t this all time lowest? Buy now or wait u til further drops????

    No rush for me

Running a x570 MSI gaming edge which has supposedly the worst VRMs of any MB lol so I dropped to a 5700x for upgrade (wanted 5900x/5950x initially)

    • +1

Same no rush for me…. but I'm not sure how much longer I can hold :)

  • worth upgrading from 3600? for gaming only, was considering the 5800X3D as a last hoorah for AM4, planning to hold onto this build until AM5 is more mature

  • Hi everyone, My son has been asking for a good gaming PC. Do you think this is a good one? So I just need to attach a monitor, key board and a mouse?

    • +5

This isn't a PC, it's only the brain.

    • +1

      You need motherboard+ video card + m2 ssd or 2.5 ssd+ min 16gb memory.

      • thanks

Check out the Techfast deals that regularly pop up on here if you're looking for a full system. Went with them last year and have been happy.

          • +1

@Hurg: Can vouch for Techfast. Bought a system in 2018 and it's still kicking.

    • +1

This will be a good CPU for his PC.

Please do some research online and on youtube on how to go about getting parts to build a good PC. Then either do it yourself or get someone to do it for you.
Or else buy a ready made PC from one of the reputed stores like Scorpte, mwave, ple, centrecom etc..

You can also search for good deals here from economical options such as Techfast which have a good reputation here.

Good luck and yes once you do that, you can buy and then attach a monitor, KB and mouse :)

      • thanks

        • All the best. Your son will surely appreciate a great gaming PC.

        • +1

Recent deal with the same CPU to give you an idea. The GPU in this is pretty awesome and can handle most games today at the best resolution.

This is a CPU, a computer component, not a computer.

If your son wants to have a good gaming PC, you can either buy him a prebuilt one, or set him a budget and have him pick out the components and assemble it himself.

Logical Increments is a good place to start if you want to get an idea of what components are needed, and what sort of builds you can do at different price points.

Building his own will usually lead to a better machine for lower cost. It‘s also fun. Like expensive Lego.

      Why downvote this guy?

Anyway, check out pre-build deals here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/techfast%20type%3Ao… It will give you an idea for a full pc setup before attaching the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Looks like its not worth upgrading from a 3700x. Please correct me if wrong?

    Great price for this though!

    • Same boat, from the gaming benchmarks i've seen on youtube, 5700x performs around 10-15fps better on average than a 3700x at 1440P with a 3080. Considering the 3700x is being advertised on gumtree/marketplace for $300. Seems like a pretty decent upgrade.

Do they accept posted cheques instead?

I recently placed an order with centre com. I am impressed with their service. The package arrived the day after I placed the order (in vic, about 30km from store). The courier company sent an auto sms when they were a few minutes away, and the SMS had link which showed me live the courier location on a map - they were one street away.

  • About time for a 5700x deal!

  • worth $140 difference with 5600?

    • For gaming NO.. the 5600 will give you the same performance… buy the time the 5600 is not good enough to run games.. Neither will the 5700x

But if you can get one that's a B2 stepping.. those things overclock and under volt really well… They also use less power at stock settings

I purchased a 5700x and 5600 at the same time from the same store… The 5700x was a B2 revision and the 5600 was as B1

Spoke to some people on here and they have received a B2 stepping 5600 so its all a luck of the draw..

  • At what point do I upgrade my 3600 with 3080 running wqhd 75hz with a 5700x, if i upgrade screen to 144hz?

    • After you get the screen and if you think you need the extra frames…. at 1440p in newer games not even a RTX3080 can get 144FPS like cyberpunk

      Also I think a 5800X3D would be a better match for a RTX3080.. you have a $200 CPU running a $1250 GPU

      • Yes I thank the techfast deal from almost 2 years ago lol. Cheers for the feedback. $650 is a bit steep tho.

        • Prices will drop when zen4 comes out… a 5600 is going for $220 that would be a much better match for that 3080 :).. you can still sell the 3600 for $$ to make it a cheap upgrade

          • @vid_ghost: yeah that'd be the plan, sell the 3600 and wrath cooler to pay for 5xxx and aio

  • I told myself I wouldnt pull the trigger until this was $350. Hard not to.

  • I have an old MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo, from what i've read i can slot this or a Ryzen 5 5600 etc in with no dramas but before i pull the trigger has anyone done it? Rocking an old ass Ryzen 5 2600x which hasn't given me any issues but could use an upgrade

  • This worth upgrading from a 3800x?
