  • Anyoen can recommend a good coffee grinder that's c. $150? Need one that grinds the exact amount automatically without me guessing.

    • Nothing electric really for that price, better option here would be to match some kitchen scales + a decent hand grinder.

    • Hand grinder will grind exact amount you put in.

  • +2

Make sure you service it every 1-2 years as these things start falling apart internally pretty quickly.

    • They don't if you do that.

  • This is a really good deal😭 now I’m so indecisive if I should upgrade it because my 870 is being fixed…..

  • There's going to be all of like 3 of these in stock nationally, and they'll be gone by now almost guaranteed.

These have been either out of stock or unavailable as a solo unit for years, people froth them for good reason. I got mine for $1200 recently from a re-selling scalper, and I'm not even made about it. If you can get it at this price for the love of god, do it. You're looking at $3.5-$5k for a equivalent step up that looks nicer, and it's guaranteed that it still won't have some if this guys features.

It is dummy thicc tho, and you do need a external grinder.

Tempted but how does it compare to the Decent DE1pro, not really concerned about price as I'm super confident stakeholders will be offering me a 6 figure salary soon.

    • +1

no comparison, you will have to jail break it to be comparable

    • Wow looks like alot of haters on the DE1pro, duly noted. I guess 6k doesn't mean better coffee.

    • Decent DE1pro includes built-in IPad, but not double boiler.

  • I did not understand it, you goto the store and ask them that you have a code to bring it down 15% and then you pay via gift card?

    • +2

Call the 1300 number, ask for them if you can get the 15% discount and they'll SMS you a link to pay with the 15% discount applied. Go get the gift card with 10% discount, and use it as a credit card (It's a virtual mastercard number, not a gift card; has 16 digit number, CVV and expiry date). Was painless, $10 shipping and it totalled $816.65 from TGG and the gift card came out to $734.98. Great deal!

      • Thank you!!!

      • +5

MAKE SURE YOU GET THE EXACT AMOUNT ON THE GC - IT WILL NOT LET YOU SPLIT PAYMENTS ONLINE!!!

        • +1

Was going to reply to your other pass, but yes, manually put in the price on the giftcard site.

You don't have to install anything on your phone though, but do need to register for their website. It's a faff, but after you do, you can get the mastercard number via the website :)

          • @drewbles: OOS in the entire NSW, I called a few stores tbh nothing is available. Can I get delivery from another state?

            • @sqheaven: Yes you can. I called the 1300 number and mine is being delivered to VIC from QLD.

              • @RyanMK: I'll try my luck tomorrow 😂

Actually, buying for a friend. He's too dumb to figure out such deals. I already have a BDB with slayer mod lol

  • Thanks OP. Worked as you said. They applied the 15% in-store without me needing to ask for it.

  • I always find that whenever someone posts coffee machines or grinders, it would attract so many comments

    • Now you know why this is always out of stock as an individual item.

  • Thanks so much, our coffee machine was playing up. Staff were so helpful at my local GG and happily applied the 15% discount. Also bought the phillips airfryer along from the recent deal (15%+$100 cashback) and smart grinder. Was able to pay with the ultimate gift cards which I bought for the exact total spend. Stocked with the savings. Now to pay off my credit card!

  • 1300 Number was the way to go for me - Managed to get one in VIC

There was none in the Bendigo store but managed to grab one from Moorabbin - Shipping was $20 however.
Phone support said there was only that one there.

They were a bit tentative on the phone, saying that you can only get it with the grinder, but I was just like my friend (not lying, OP was being friendly by posting deal, ty friend) actually just brought one from a good guys without the grinder and was just wondering if there's stock anywhere else in Victoria that I can grab and then she took my details and sent me through a phone link.

    Automatically applied the 15% - was 806.65 + $20 shipping.
Then the gift card for 826.65 was $743.98

    Cheers, OP

I must have got the same consultant straight after you… when I rang to place an order she said that she wasn't aware it was available without the grinder but just processed one the call right before me. You did the hard work for me so thanks :)

      • How did these people convince the consultant to check properly? Mine was adamant that she couldn't find it on the website and so it doesn't exist

        • +1

Tell them it's a BES920. I told the guy I spoke to the code and he was straight on it.

    • I called Moorabbin directly at about 4PM and the sales person went to physically check stock and told me there is 1 left and processed the invoice for me. She knew BES920 is the one without the grinder. Was even friendly to ask if there was a price they wanted me to beat. I said, just the 15% store discount was fine, she said no problem.

Not sure why my response was different to your tbh.

Hopefully we all get ours :)

  • I don't need to upgrade I don't need to upgrade I don't need to upgrade I don't need to upgrade

    Amazing - thanks OP

Dual Boiler + Eureka mignon specialita for $1225

    • +1

I got near enough the same thing, but went with the Eureka Mignon Oro Single dose. Fantastic combo.

The single dose has some little QOL things you'll want for your mignon. Get a cheapie tilted base off ETSY and maybe a bellows. Stops stale coffee getting stuck in the chute.

      • Where did you get your Oro from?

        • +1

"MY coffee shop" in Abbortsford, Melb east side.

      • I ordered all the things from Etsy for my Specialita. Can't wait for them to arrive to give them a try.
Retention isn't that bad so far, but it's new and I can imagine it just gets worse over time.

        • They are pretty damn good as standard! On the plus side your unit will fit the really neat stock Eureka tamp mat, even if it is pricey.

    • Im happy with this setup for the last 2 years now :)

    • Great combo, amazing deal.

    • @PaPaGeorGeo, that makes the Eureka Mignon Specialita about $500. Can't find any near that price. Do you mind sharing where I can get one for that price? Thanks

  • Nice find! Been eyeing off one of these dual boiler coffee machines for ages.. just bought 1 with a Breville Smart Pro Grinder for about $955.80 total. Thanks!

  • So apparently you can only use a max of 2 gift cards per transaction. Anybody wanting to buy a $10 TGG gift card from me, I have nothing to use it for now and very rarely shop here :(

  • Calling 1300 was told they sold out nationwide..

  • Thanks OP! Finally got one. Managed to snag one just in time before the 1300 number closed.

  • Thanks OP, just picked mine up that I had set aside for me earlier today. Had been waiting for a good price, and $725 is excellent

  • This price is incredible if you can get it.

I was waiting for ages and snagged one under $900 and was very happy with the price.

  • Anyone who’s bought interstate got a delivery date email yet? Just worried they don’t actually have the stock and will cancel on us

    • +1

No delivery email yet, says 2-5 business days for dispatch on the invoice though. I am worried the same thing will happen, but i ordered mine at 6.30pm WA time, so near the end of closing for the east coast and the guy i spoke to said that there was still stock. He paused and checked something but then confirmed there was still stock. He said the item appeared to be massively popular over the last few days.

Fingers crossed it arrives, I ordered a refurbished one for 600 last friday so 735 for a new one (used the gift card) is a steal. Now i just have to get my money back from the refurbished one which still hasn't dispatch after paying for it 7days ago, the company has ignored my emails when i enquired midweek too so probably have to claim that on paypal now

      • Have yet to receive any correspondence… preparing for the worse, already bought my grinder

        • I received a text message late saturday for my digital invoice. When i clicked the link in the text it showed me a page that said mine had dispatched from Queensland but i do not have any tracking info. Usually have to wait 1-2weeks for stuff to arrive from the east so i'm hoping it arrives next week. Hopefully you've had an update on your order, i have received zero emails it's all been via text.

    • I got a tracking number today so should be all good.

  • Gave them a call today for my order on Thursday, and they said that they've sold out across Australia and that the product is discontinued. They didn't even send me an email or anything…

After telling them how disappointed I was they were willing to give me the Dual Boiler + Smart Grinder option if I paid an additional ~$190.

I said no, and they doubled checked again and found their final unit.

  • I walked into JB Hifi the other day and found out the manufacturer is restricting the BES920, he walked me through what each code meant in his little handheld PDA.
The BEP920 was on order only, he seemed to think it was to artificially restrict sale of them there was zero in store.

I went to the nearest store on the night this deal was posted, and found that their 2 items in stock were both reserved by people that day (presumably also Ozbargainers!) The guy took my details just in case, and lo and behold, called me on Monday to say 1 was still available for me if I wanted it. I picked it up later in the week, and set it up yesterday. Definitely need to work on grind as pressure is still low so far (still produces a decent taste), but the milk texturing is amazing compared to the pannarello on my old entry-level Gaggia.

Wife is impressed despite the hugeness of it taking up a lot of room.

    • +1

To increase brew pressure just need to increase dose and or grind finer and make sure you tamp properly and level.

      • To increase brew pressure just need to increase dose and or grind finer and make sure you tamp properly and level.

You have to start with fresh beans.

        • +1

After you open a bag of fresh beans and it gets older you tend to grind slightly finer. A really stale beans wont get you a good crema too.

  • Just wondering, for those who get theirs shipped, was your shipped double boxed or just the Breville box? Mine came in the Breville box and has shipping scars on it. Just curious. Thanks!

    • Not sure if this helps but when I got my BEP920 a year and a bit ago, it shipped double boxed. The outer box was plain brown cardboard and had a sticker saying item 1 of 20 or something so was probably one of many on a palette. The inner box was the 'nicer' one with the photo and description of machine etc. I purchased from Appliances Online.

    • Last time I purchased one from the Good Guys, my one was double boxed - retail packaging a snug fit inside carboard boxing with the shipping labels on that.

      • Mine too.

        • Mine came from the Morrabbin store and in the coffee machine box with a label slapped onto it. It was not even sealed! My box has rips in it and the Toll carrier even carried it upside down over his head lugging it to my door! Called the store and they said there is none left anywhere and this is a discontinued line so they can't order it. I told them they do come back in stock when Breville so chooses but they just said we can't order it…

  • Just wondering if the Breville dual boiler is suitable for low volume eg my gf and I just have one cup of coffee a day - me 2 shots, her 1 shot…but are keen to DIY to save that $12/day we’ve been spending at the cafe :| I’m not sure if the beans will go stale / it needs more use than just 2 cups a day of volume to be worthwhile ? Also whether by the time you buy good quality coffee, plus milklab $4/1L it’s adding up? Keen to hear anyone’s thoughts!

    • Yes its good option. I make 2 cups cappuccino a day (double shot each) and 1 kg beans last 1 month. When I open new beans bag, I put some in grinder for few days use, and divide rest in 4 sealed small container and remaining in coffee vacuum sealed container. Beans stays fresh. 1kg beans makes 50 double shot cup. If you buy 1kg beans bag for say $32 then the double shot beans cost $32/50 = 64c. If you paying $4/ lr for milklab, then cost of frothed milk per cup is ~$4/6 = 66c, so total cost is $1.30. You need to factor in cost of good grinder tho. But if you have occasional visitors then saving is even more!

      • that's really helpful - thanks so much for the reply & numbers. Definitely a lot cheaper than cafe prices! Sounds like it'll cost me roughly $1 (single shot) & $1.30 (double shot) ~ $2.30 a day; so saving $7.70 a day if I'm spending 10 bucks at the cafe. Should pay itself off in about 6 months from the initial capital investment assuming its about ~1500$, and then the rest is additional savings.

        • +1

exactly and you can enjoy the coffee anytime you want in comfort of your home, rain or hail, just need to practice with brewing coffee and frothing milk.

    • The upfront cost needs to take a grinder into account also which may blow your cost out.

As far as consumables, I have found at times there are ways to bring down the cost:
Australia's Own barista almond milk from Costco for ~$28 for 8x 1 litre which you may find similar to the Millklab one (which is also on sale on Amazon sometimes)
This year I have been getting the St Ali beans delivered each month on subscription which was a 50% discount when they had the sale on.

A final thing to factor in is the maintenance cost, water filter every 3 months and after a couple of years you will need to get it serviced every 18 months or so for $100-$150 or so (or some people do this themselves if they have the skills).
