  • Hmmm what would ScoMo do?

    • +1

      Go to Hawaii & Bengaluru

  • +3

I certainly wouldn’t be flying with qantas any time soon.

  • +8

Will the luggage allowance be one way or return?

  • +1

WTF is this considered cheap now? dang

    • +2

What? $450 each way to HNL is expensive? That's a MEL-SYD fare.

      • definitly seen significantly cheaper recently. mind you qantas being full service and all, but for that price, think ill be happy with a bag of chips bought at the airport

Alan Joyce promises to set aside some of your ticket price for himself in the form of a bonus. It helps to dampen the empathy a CEO may share with employees and customers at the arse-end of service after record breaking bailout.

How do companies like Qantas and Woolies get away with so much. Imagine if this was your local independent store doing this. There would be a boycott. Qantas took a government handout, took job keeper, the fired all their staff. How is this allowed? Shouldn't we get a say in where our tax money goes instead of bailing out Joyce because he is incompetent

I was just at Brisbane airport. There was two staff members at the check in counters, one staff directing the line. The amount of people that had issues with the self drop bag but there was no staff to help so everyone had to queue up.

Amazing with woolies that they keep throwing around inflation but their ceo has a salary of 8mil but got a 37% salary increase last year. Who else in Woolworths got a 37% pay increase? Who else in general got a 37% increase in other jobs? And they had the audacity to say prices are up due to inflation. GTFO

Seems like the only thing inflated was woolies executives salaries. Surprised no one actually brings this up more.

But hey, if it was your local IGA that does this, or if they didn't pay their staff, there would be an uproar.

      you are not wrong Sir

    Great effort OP.
IMHO After travelling in Economy class of Singapore airlines, Etihad, Emirates even Cathey & Thai I feel Qantas is miles behind in service & customer experience.
I have taken 2 long haul flights from Sydney in last 6 months both were terrible experience, Lodged complaint 8 weeks ago and they have close the tickets yesterday without even contacting me. Sent them messages on twitter via DM & public tweet with complaint - no response.
But above price is good price, considering current inflation I imagine $$$ is decisive factor.

Thanks! Prices these days are not quite the same as pre-covid/Ukraine war/inflation etc I agree Qantas is behind the airlines you mentioned. However if you are interested in flights to Hawaii what are your alternatives - Jetstar, Hawaiian Airlines (for the most direct route). Is Qantas worse then them?

Last year, had a flight booked to CBR from MEL. At 2.30am they send me a text to say that the flight had been cancelled so I get bumped to a flight 2 hrs later. Problem is is that the flight is now too late as it was a time critical event. So at 2.30am, I have to ring up and wait an hour on the phone only to plead that they issue me a refund as the flight is now useless. The flight home on Virgin later that day went unused, so I lost $150 as well..

Then I had to wait 2 months for the refund to arrive.

What a joke. Never again. I'd rather drive.

during covid I had a flight cancelled that was $600. No voucher or anything.

tried contacting them every single way possible. Eventually get a reply 6 months later asking for my flight details despite putting every single detail in my original email so I would avoid waiting months for replies. Obviously that didn't work.

When they replied next like 8 months later they said it's now been over 12 months after my scheduled flight so I am no longer entitled to a voucher lol.

      • Joyce is king of the shyster CEOs.

  • Brisbane flights to Honolulu are via Sydney. I wonder if they're targeting Hawaiian again, they did this when the 747s were on their last days with cheap first/business seats to Honolulu in the before-times.

  • HNL is beyond my budget atm.

Pricey accommodation and dollar under 70c.
