Slightly better deal as it is in stock to be dispatched immediately (unlike centrecom, amazon), free delivery (unlike PCCG), no payment surcharge (unlike centrecom) and an enormous 0.7% cashback to make the deal even sweeter.

Delivery estimate shows $10 but during the checkout process it goes to free.

TL;DR of the processor is it's exceptional value for gaming and light productivity, especially if you've got an existing AM4 motherboard upgrade. If you're after something top of the line with AMD then you're better off waiting for AM5 but you can't beat this value wise.

  • Tempted recon this will drop more? Either this or 12400f. Have ddr4 and a cooler already that suits AM4 only. Decent AM4 and LGA1700 boards seem to be the same price.

If you've already got half the stuff for AM4, surely you just go with the 5600.

I jumped on it, I figured used AM4 processors would drop a lot in price when AM5 comes out, so I figured I'd get this as an upgrade sooner than later. Could drop further but who knows.

Can you find / how much does a mounting bracket for LGA1700 for your cooler cost?

      • 12th gen is cpu board and cooler vs just board and cpu for amd.

no lga1700 brackets unfortunately too old.

        • Dunno about the status of Windows 11 secure boot performance issue with AMD:

The microcode update should be available by now. I got fed up and bought a hardware TPM module for my AMD system.

If you are willing to pay for a decent intel 12th gen board, then you could get USB 3.2 gen 2x2 or Thunderbolt 4 support. It also depends on whether you can resist having multiple PCIe gen 4 SSDs. You do have to pay a lot more for PCIe gen 5 support I reckon. Unless you really need a new PC now, it might be better to wait for the next gen offering. If all the hype is correct, AMD will do PCIe gen 5 support on the chipset as well.

          • @netsurfer: See that stuff doesn't bother me, USB 3 thunderbolt 4 etc. It's something i don't use.

I have 2 M2 drives now one is only pci3 anyways so that doesn't bother me either.

I am surprised that the x570/b550 boards are so expensive still.

            • @natens: That's why I don't bother with this type of deals at the moment. Once you factored in the board, RAM, case and most importantly, GPU, it is just not that attractive.

Did you get to checkout? I purchased it yesterday with free postage and it says promotion ends at the end of the month. Estimate showed $10 but it went to free at the checkout.
