Flavours sound good, how are these for someone whos normal go-to at the pub is a hahn super dry?

    • +26

      A bit sour.

  • +3

Think of a sour more like a cider. Beer with sweet flavors and a sour aftertaste but it still tastes like a beer.

    • +3

I'd say it's like Kombucha so if you don't like Kombucha your chances of liking sours is significantly lower

      • +4

I hare kombucha but love sours so YMMV!

  • -1

    Sounds horrible?

    • +1

Lime…milkshake sour as beer… I'm kinda with u on this one… Maybe it tastes good.. but it doesn't sound like it would in paper!!!

    • Dive right into your childhood with this can of liquid nostalgia.

Must've been a rather sad childhood to get nostalgic about sour beer.

  • As a gen x, I just don't get this. If I want a milkshake, I'll order a milkshake. If I want a beer, I'll order a beer. This kinda feels like craft gone crazy.

    • +21

Right? Its like the other day I went to a cafe and they asked if I wanted a blueberry milkshake. If I want a blueberry, Ill buy a blueberry.

      • +8

        damn straight!

When I order a sandwich I get BLT and eat the B, the L and the T separately.

        Goddamn mishmashing hippies.

        • +7

Bloody yuppies with their sandwiches - if I’m hungry, I eat the pig raw.

      • +1

Blueberry compliments dairy. A closer analogy would be being offered a vegemite or sweet and sour sauce milkshake.

    • +1

What about a beer that has hints of a milkshake in it?

They're actually pretty decent, I've ordered a few of the assorted packs from Dad & Daves - they're really interesting :)

  • I want to try these but I don't want to buy 24 cans for a taste

    • You can order 4-packs as well from the website

        • +8

We still have the Cherry Sour on tap at the brewery at 45 Mitchell Road, Brookvale. You are welcome to come down and have a sample taste for free.

@jamesdumay: Will keep that in mind, cheers.

Please note I wasn't meaning to be negative towards you OP, just thinking out loud.

        • +3

neg me till the cows come home, I was just stating a fact.

I wouldn't try a niche product like this unless there was some sort of offer that didn't require me buying a dozen of each.

I'd rather stick with what I know I like.

  • If you haven't tried Sour whiskies before, you better try them out first before buying the 24-can one. I tried a few different flavors and it's not for me. But the taste is an individual choice.

    • +7

If you haven't tried Sour whiskies before

      what about sour beers?

      • lol, didn't proofread. I meant beer.

  • -2

how is $5.40 per can worth posting on ozbargain?

    • +10

      Isn't this $2.70 per can?

      • +3

yeah that got me too, it's two packs of 12 cans, so 24 total. Good price for craft beers since they're like $7-10 a can at the local IGA's craft beer section.

    • +1

      but why male models?

      • +1

Are you serious? I just told you that.

Some reviews for those on the fence:

    https://untappd.com/b/dad-and-dave-s-brewing-cherry-sour/474…

Both sound like they're worth a crack @ $2.7 a can if you're into sours.

As someone who just about exclusively drinks wild ales and sours, seeing these gawdy mashups of flavours is just blegh. It's like vodka cruisers. Sounds cool when you're 12 but then you adult and grow a palate.

  • +1

Love sour beer, so I obviously couldn't resist.

  • Is there any wheat in these? I can have barley and other grains, but not wheat.

    • +1

I believe the Banana mango has some.

  • I'm in! Thank you OP

    • Thanks Carl

  • Orderd these late last night, sounded so interesting (pronounced "weird")I thought I'd have to have a crack. They dropped it off to me in person (in western sydney) around lunch time and had an awesome chat. Don't know how they taste yet, but what service!

    • Whack em in the freezer and get back to us once you’ve tucked in.

        • +1

Or, just live in an old house house that is as cold as a fridge….

      • Well, not being particularly experienced in sours. My first thought is "yes. This is sour"

        • +1

My second thought is "yup. It is definitely sour… but not unpleasent". An interesting combination of abit of smooth milkiness and a hard sour punch, only a slight pine lime memory to it, but that might be the previously had covid effect….
Obviously i've started on the pine lime milkshake sour…

  • As a fan of these styles, and buying local craft more generally, this is a solid deal. Particularly when factoring in free shipping.

Haven't tried your brews before but I've pulled the trigger on this pack. Looking forward to tasting 'em!

  • Bargain, love cherry, love sours!

  • Out of stock now it seems - unfortunate…

  • damn missed out!
