Price and shop on the title please.

My bad! First deal, I should've read the guidelines…

    • +8

      in exchange of pegging?

      • +12

        In exchange for negging

    • So you buy it for nothing, and then get a goldie as well? smh

  • +5

Wow what a price! My 6800XT was $950 on launch day

    • +5

Launch price of 6800xt was 1050
      950 was the 6800
      In Australia anyway

      • +3

Well mine was $950 and it's definitely an XT

  • +8

Not a bad buy for those that didn't jump on the Asus TUF for the same price.

      Gigafail no thanks lol

      • +1

I keep seeing this sentiment here and I don't quite understand why. I have purchased several Gigabyte cards this generation and have had no issues with them.

        • +2

I've seen a few youtube reviewers have issues with coil whine and lack of performance on even the latest Gigabyte cards, though it seems to be luck of the draw.. you can find a lot on google just searching "Gigabyte Coil Whine".
Because there's a high enough chance you'll get one that's been kneecapped, I personally wouldn't be purchasing a Gigabyte card at this point. When I don't see such a steady stream of these issues though, I'll happily purchase their cards again (I stopped with their range on a 2060 a few years back though it's been fine).

          • +2

            @MrKnowItAll:

you can find a lot on google just searching "Gigabyte Coil Whine"

To be fair, try this for basically any brand and you'll get a bunch of threads — anecdotes are cheap.

Gigabyte has certainly made some mistakes (psu comes to mind) but overall I haven't seen a lot to suggest they're significantly worse as a brand than others

        • They have been hacked multiple times. Lost a lot of data to do with RMA tickets or something so people never got their GPUs back for months (from one of the hacks). They sell exploding power supplies.

        • Gigabyte has recall issues galore, vote me down all you like.
Gigabyte has had long history of not supporting their video cards, and power supply's setting on fire. Google it.
I would chose Zotac cards over a GB card every single time.
Don't come crying to me when your card fails, I'm only the massager.

It's obvious Scorptec and it's partners voting me down to shift the GB dead weight.

      • +1

I mean, all manufacturers will have failure rates. It's how they handle RMA that matters.
Gigabyte has extended 4 year warranty, unlike some other suppliers.
My gigabyte 2080 developed overhearing/fan ramping after 3 years. It took about 2 months for the card to be retuned to me working, but this time period is in line with other RMAs I'd had previojsly such asAsus for a motherboard. The whole industy is slow.

Gigabytes online support though? Yeah that's atrocious, over 2 weeks after submitting a ticket without a reply. Better to go via your retailer.

(and yes, you always have ACL alongside manufacturer warranties, but ACL can be more of a pain to claim with)

        • hahaha lies

    hodl

  • +31

I think most people would agree (see here) that now may not be the best time to strike if you're interested in getting the best deal on current gen GPUs..

It's trending downwards and prices are tempting, but they haven't quite hit the sweet spot if you're targeting the ultimate bargain

    • +13

      Agreed. HODL!

    • +5

And given talk about delays of next gen to 2023, could be another 3-6 months before those bargains come.

No one knows. Prices for similar tier are stable, we're all guessing.

    • +2

Idk 3060 ti has stayed within 670-750 for 3 months now

      • +5

just grab a 6600xt for around 350 delivered when deals pop up and will be good

        • +2

Not an option, software too heavily optimised for nvidia

          • +1

@Pugkin: i hear you. guess you're up for nvidia tax then, or wait 6 months and get a 4060 (non ti) and would be 40-50% faster for the similar price

  • +16

buy now and enjoy, regret later.

    • +3

      That's the OzBargain Way

    • +3

There has been a few people on Ozbargain who have been crying over $$ they have lost in the past weeks because they didn't HODL.

      • They should get more dollars then

        • +2

Sage advice: You can always get more dollars, but you can't always get more graphics card.

  • +4

I've been enjoying my 6900xt for the last month or more, I feel they have more quirks than nvidea but overall a solid performer if you don't care for RT / DLSS.

    • Do you experience any stuttering in games?

      • I don't, no.

Use for VR too, great for games that don't support DLSS, it's a rasterization power house.

  • Waiting for when the RTX 3080 falls below 1K

    • +3

Waiting for the 12gb to fall below $1K. Nearly there.

      • isn't this better than RTX 3080?

        • Depends on the game.

I need it for DLSS. Currently running 3 x 1440p with a 2080ti … which is just doable.

Am waiting for the 4000 or a cheaper 3080 12gb … which ever comes first

          • @CY: How much would you buy a 3080 12gb for?

            • @Poor Ass: As per my comment above …. Waiting for <$1k

Depending on the model I won’t jump at it though.

              • +1

@CY: lol thought it was someone else

  • +1

Loving the 5900X/6900XT combo I built last month.

  • +25

Really excited I paid $2200 for my 6900XT

    • +18

Someone get this man on suicide watch

    • +2

I justified by thinking no gaming for a year would have been worse to my mental health :P

    • claim price protection on credit card!

    • +2

Typing this with tears in my eyes.. I feel your pain mate - $1900 for my 6800 XT just last year

  • +1

Knew I shouldn’t check Ozb for a while, just picked up a 6800XT from scorptec last week for the same price

    • +3

$999 for a 6800xt hasn't been a good deal for a while tbh, especially since xt's were as low as $799 last week.

    • +6

you must have bought that knowing it was a crap deal, since a week or two earlier 6800 XTs were $799 at BPC…

  • +4

Decided to pick one up. My 1080ti died last week and missed the other one on Friday. Surely the price wont drop much more, maybe another 100 over the next few months…. Maybe

    • +1

Honestly, the best way to upgrade and no guiltz (OzB syndrome of not getting the best value). :D

    • Or don't visit OzB, otherwise you get heart attack (if new deals dropped)

  • I have a 6600xt is it worth hopping on this or waiting for the 7xxx series

    • +5

Honestly, unless you are going to enjoy gaming at a higher resolution (such as 4k, etc), best wait. The price drops to this level elude to the next-gen being that much better.

      • what would you recommend for 1080p gaming, especially sim racing with triple screen?
I know upgrading to 5800x3D will get massive gains (especially in ACC) but trying to weigh up cost of replacing GPU (+ selling old 6600xt) or CPU only.

    • Is there a game you want to play but can't run at the frame rate or resolution you'd like?

      • Only game that springs to mind is Flight Sim 2020

  • +10

Same price at Centrecom and PCBYTE

    • Nice, this means the price is probably being pushed through from Gigabyte Australia themselves rather than being retailer-initiated (also because Centre Com only appear to be selling out of their warehouse, not their retail stores).

  • +3

The fact that it's still in stock tells me they aren't moving quickly anymore and prices will continue to drop.

  • +3

Done. Gigabyte video cards have been good to me. This price - with cashback - is too good to let slide.

  • This would be the clear out of non 6950XT stock.

  • This or a 3080ti for Microsoft Flight Simulator

    • +1

This is supposedly better for Flight Sim.

  • I bought in May for $1399. Excellent card for madVR 4K upscaling with NGU high quality. No frame drops and happily passes through HDR metadata to my projector unlike my previous RTX 3070. Card gets hot but fans work well and never noisy. Great price for a top-tier GPU.

  • +1

    OOS!

    • Actually it's back in stock and the price has dropped to $30. What a balls-up! 😆

      • Yep but not longer a bargain as other websites provide free delivery.

        • Ohhhh it's back up to $999 now 😎

  • good deal. better then 3080 or 3080ti. But for me I would get the xx90 range or x900 range
