    Looks kinda cheap no?
Exposed screws and abs plastic knobs etc.

    • +3

I think I like it better this way than the mainstream silver plastic and unreliable electronic controllers that don’t survive my buttery fingers. But proof is in the toasting. I’ll report back.

      • Agreed, these look like Dualit Toasters. They've got a timeless look. High quality slightly industrial look.

        • It turned up today, It is a solid piece of gear and looks the business on the bench. Couldn’t be happier.

    • +1

from looking at the site they sell commercial gear. need a 10 slice toaster?

  • I want a toaster with individual controls per slot. Am I asking for too much!? Toasters are also fairly simple tech. Anything over priced is just porsch-ing it!

    • Had that, last toaster had a fruit toast, crumpets, lift and look….it was ok while it worked but then it didn’t . I’m going to try to simplify and just stop toasting it when it’s done.

      Or use the Thermomix.

    • This does that.

      • It does but not with great flexibility. I want a push-down per slice. What happens if I put a slice in and then a family member places a pop tart in 1m later - you can't. There ain't no option. Think about all the toasters in the world people use with 2/4 slot toasters that people only place 1,2 or 3 in when that other slot(s) has nothing.. wasted electricity and it's such an easy fix. Appliance makers are just plain dumb!

        • Wow I’ve never had a pop tart so this is not a situation I’ve found myself in, and I’m more likely to be toasting the same thing for 4 than four different items at slightly staggered intervals.

What you are describe sounds great but I would find it annoying for my use case and it’s more likely to fail earlier due complexity.

You can turn on 1,2,3 or 4 slots so energy wastage is optional.

          • @vidiot: Is that a glass half full or empty line. I like it!

If you got no food issues like gluten, wheat or soy (or to GMOs) try the brown sugar cinnamon - it's delicious but I do remem it tasting better when they first came out. The fragrance out of the toaster is alluring. I don't know what it is about apple, cinnamon and sugar but it's such a homely combination.

  • That's one expensive toaster.

Under 'Useful documents', you can download an 'exploded view diagram and spare parts list'… interesting.

    • Yes was about to post the same thing, this is almost more interesting to me than the toaster, I've added the toaster and a bunch of spares to my cart… jsut not sure I like the $30 postage to WA…

      • …why would you buy spares?

        • +2

To build an even better toaster??

        • +3

          to have spares

        • +4

          why would you buy spares?

Because the spares make the original parts feel threatened, so the original parts will refuse to break.

  • Note this toaster doesn’t “pop”.
When finished, it goes ding, and waits for you to lift the toast.
This brand actually invented the electric toaster, and has a good reputation for durability and spare parts for repairs.
I like the look of the boxy, prison/hospital issue one they sell, but it is $300!

    • That's amazing to know they originally made the first electric toaster. I thought, "That sure looks like a boxier Dualit".

  • Looks like for industrial/ commercial use!

  • I purchased. A large amount of bench space is required, but worth it.

  • Thanks got one for work!

  • I bought this last week. It's not at all cheap plastic, it's built like a tank. It's huge. It is also disappointingly slow, but on the plus side it'll probably toast slowly for 10 years and be fixable rather than landfill

    Makes nice even toast though

  • I emailed them wanting to know when my toaster would be delivered, finally got a reply "This item is no longer in stock and won't be in the future. We have gone and cancelled the order for you".

    Anyone else get cancelled?

    • I rang them and got cancelled to. I asked what would happen if I didn't call? Would it just sit at pending indefinitely?

      • "pending indefinitely" lol, yep probably. Prior to mine getting cancelled I got a few emails and a phone call to confirm my address for delivery, so that department was very efficient. After that no one responded to my emails until I finally got a cancellation email. So disappointing, I was looking forward to a toaster that actually toasts evenly, which I believe this does, albeit very slowly.

        • Yeah. I'm never ordering from them again. Terrible service and no contact to let me know. I'd be interested to know how many people here got one.

          • @OzzyBrak: I agree, and yes it would be interesting to know how many actually got delivered.
