      • I beg to differ. 6900xt prices are inflated due to lower supply, compared to their previous lows of ~$900.

        4070ti performs under a 7900xt and around a 6950xt by most benchmarks.

          It's OzBargain here, not OzRippedoff

          • -1

@karkassa: OzBargain can identify as whatever they want

          • @karkassa: These are normally going for $1200 at cheapest so I don't understand why you hate it so much. Nvidia fanboi?

            • -1

@Budju: There's good reasons, there are 6900xt cards which have been around $900 on good deals, and it's "last-gen" tech, if you consider last gen just a few months ago. The price is higher than usual because they've stopped building 69—xt cards, so people who can't afford/can't fit the next gen are stuck with these.

But really it's a deal today.

              • @Pusheencat: Yeah those 6900xt deals were good, but also they were power hogs compared to this card.

            • +1

@Budju: Both 6900 XT and 6950 have been cheaper very recently. 7900 XT and 4070TI have been at this price point.
You would need a very specific scenario to go for a 6900 XT, and being in OzBargain the recent price history should be very important, even if the card stock is only going down.

              • @karkassa: Lol I thought this was a 7900xt deal. Oh my days XD

Poor attempt to pump prices. GPU prices will fall regardless of advertising them on ozbargain

Note the upvotes (from others who'd prefer their gpus value not to crash). This sub can't be trusted

Am I the only person who wishes the pantry stuff wasn't posted? Used to be a nice little surprise jumping on that Amazon page and seeing what interesting things have made their way there. Now it looks like a COVID era toilet paper aisle.

    • +2

Hmmmm I don't mind them but perhaps it doesn't need to be at top level so as to avoid the notification to 700+ people for a $0.70 packet of biscuits that has 1 left in stock. Maybe one top level post a day and then the items underneath? Hard to manage though.

    • +2

So turn off notifications and you wont be bothered 🤷‍♂️

      • +4

Defeats the purpose of the thread if you turn off notifications.

    • +9

Don’t forget to only reply to a deal not post a new topic as it alerts over 700 members that your comment is a potential new deal :)

      • +5

I think this is a valid discussion point to add to the top level though.

    • +1

I think AaronR's ppint is not getting bothered by notifications etc, it's that it gets posted and notified everyone so it gets snapped up right away. He preferred to jump on that page and see the interesting items that were in stock but now there's never anything in stock because we grab it all immediately.

      • +2

The point of this thread is literally insufficient quantity though so I think that comes with the territory.

I think if people want to be sure there's quantity for a deal they shouldn't follow this thread at all and just view main deals as that has a rule of needing to have sufficient quantity.

This thread is specifically for items that may sell out really quickly because there's only a few left.

    • +2

Yup, There are so many of these which are mainly very very low stock with a slight discount and getting notifications for them filling up your usual ozbargain notification folder :(

      • +4

I like these pantry items, keep them coming

        • -1

I would prefer they were kept in a separate thread.

          • +2

@ozbs25: They are, they are posted to this Low Quantity thread.

            • @PVA: A few of us think there should be separate low quality/quantity thread posts.

              • +1

@ozbs25: I thinks it’s perfect as is. Top level notification is on, works well.

      • +1

This is a low stock thread. Usually these deals will go to the main page if there's enough stock, this thread is for items where there is 1-10 of them left.

By design you'll miss out a lot of the time, which is why this exists to stop it happening on the main page. But sometimes you'll get lucky!

        • +6

I think you are missing the point, He was saying all the Pantry deals. We understand this is low stock thread, but it used to be more about just random stuff amazon stuff from electronics to whatever. But now its being completely overtaken by pantry "deals" which are dime a dozen and filling up the whole thread / notifcations.

          • @lonewolf: Exactly this.

Especially when someone posts multiple times per hour for amazon pantry item with 1 quantity. No issues if they combine posts but that means people might miss out on edits.

          • @lonewolf: Yeah I guess so, but I was replying to you talking about them being low stock which is the point of this thread. Feeling like there are too many comments in this thread is another issue.

Not opposed to having a separate thread for food as those who are interested can just turn on notifications for that too.

But really half the electronics etc I don't want either, I just keep an eye and sometimes something I want pops up, whether that's food or another item.

            • +2

@snoopydoop: I was responding to his post so i had taken it for granted that we were talking about pantry stuff. The problem is with pantry stuff there are hundreds of hundreds while electronics or whatever else, there just wont be. Pantry amazon constantly goes up and down to compete against grocery stores and for other reasons. So yes not every post will appeal to everyone but with electronics, there will just be far less of them so it doesnt really affect people the same way as pantry posts. I mean just go through the last few pages of this and count all the pantry stuff as opposed to the other categories. I actually think Pantry posts should be on its own thread.

Its basically clogging up all the notifications and thread to the point that people miss out on other deals. The other thing with pantry deals is that they will repeat themselves very often while electronic deals are not that common ( i mean for the same product) so if you miss a pantry deal, it doesnt matter, so many grocery stores and so many choices. But you dont want to miss out on a notification of an electronic deal on something you may have been after for months.

          • +5

            @lonewolf:

but it used to be more about just random stuff amazon stuff from electronics to whatever.

You can go to page 1 or 2 of this thread and see that it always has been mostly pantry items posted here.

            • +2

@hamza23: I dont think to the same level it is now, considering others are saying the same thing, its something they have experienced as well.

              • +5

@lonewolf: You can look for yourself at the first pages of this thread and see that from day 1 it is mostly pantry items that were posted. Your claim that it 'used to be more about just random stuff amazon stuff from electronics to whatever' is not correct. Perhaps you are trying to say something different.

                • @hamza23: Its about the frequency.

                  • +8

@lonewolf: Okay that is what I thought you might have meant. The frequency is the issue, not the mix of products, which has in fact remained consistent.

I have tried to include multiple items in a single comment and also quickly edit the comment with additional products, rather than making a new comments, for that reason. To reduce noise, ie the amount of notifications.

                    • +1

@hamza23: Thank you, I do like the way you combine multiple items into 1.

                    • +1

@hamza23: yes that would be good. No problems with it being posted but i feel like in the past i could go away from my email and come back and see a certain amount of posts from this thread and these days that has skyrocketed and seems to be all pantry one off posts and sometimes the same item being reposted when it gets more stock.

Ideally you dont have to do it all by yourself but if other people are able to do it? I havent looked up the stats for this but are people posting one off posts but multiple times for different products instead of combining it themselves?

                      • -1

@lonewolf: Can you guys take this conversation elsewhere? Or perhaps include a deal along with each of your comments?

I'm getting a ton of notifications for zero deals. Very annoying.

FYI, better off getting notifications for top level comments, not every comment :)

FYI, better off getting notifications for top level comments, not every comment :)

Every comment is better because then you receive notification for all the "back in stock" comments instead of missing out on the deal all over again.

                        • +2

@HomeAlone: Change your notifications to top level deals, thats the point of it. The idea was people can comment under each post and not notify everyone.

                    • +2

@hamza23: Thanks, +1 to combining them.

I agree there's a little too much noise for just 50% stuff which some of them can be found at colesworth half price specials.

I'm receiving these notifications 3 times with the 'automated warehouse tools', so would love for the cream of the crop to be posted here.

But, I'd also rather more noise than no noise and miss out! :D

                      PS. Sorry @HomeAlone ^.

                      • @rompastompa: This is one opinion. It all depends what the majority and/or admin wants. Maybe it would be fair to EVERYONE if we have a vote? For me personally I live in the outback, Colesworth are 50km away and for me it’s a big win getting these deals for 50% off and save hours of driving and shopping.

                        • @Thrifty Dan: Answered here FYI. I think that is the best way going forward.

                          • @hamza23: I like the combined posts too.

btw, since it seems not everyone is finished discussing reckon would be better to create a new thread to talk about it?

I prefer to have all notifications for when someone replies a deal is back in stock, don't mind the odd OOS stock reply or something else that is still usually related in some way to the post, though might have to change temporarily. I think I'm at over a hundred notification emails so far with little to none actually being a deal (and yes, I realise I'm contributing to the problem now ;)

                            • +1

                              @bamzero:

new thread to talk about it?

I think the discussion is coming to a close and everyone is on the same page mostly.

I prefer to have all notifications for when someone replies a deal is back in stock

I think we should create new comments for items back in stock (some time later), rather than replies, for this reason. I know someone complained about this, but perhaps they did not understand the reason for creating a new comment for an item back in stock, is due to notification settings.

          • +1

@lonewolf: We have websites like shppngtrlly that grab pantry deals, but I entirely agree with the sentiment, maybe a separate thread specifically for low run grocery deals and this remains for everything else?

            • @doobey1231: yes, i only recently started using shopping trolley as well. Havent used it properly yet, only a couple of times . but i presume there are methods of configurations / settings that i can delve into?

            • @doobey1231: Amazon warehouse deals are majority pantry items, because they are the things that have expiry dates and low expiry is the thing that triggers most of the significant discounts. For electronics deals it will be mostly damaged packaging and in many cases the discount on those is only small.

Creating a separate thread won't create non existent discounts for electronics etc. items. Most of those will be found on the main deals page.

              • @hamza23: I disagree. There are plenty of deals other than pantry and the discount can be massive.

        • +1

I do think there's a valid discussion to be had here.

There is a lot of chaff on the warehouse across both the pantry and other sections, and I don't know that all of it is worth posting about and sharing.

I certainly appreciate everyone that takes the time to share their finds, but in my opinion it doesn't hurt for the selections to be curated. The way I think of it, if you wouldn't be sharing it as a deal if it had a lot of stock, or think it's an interesting/niche enough item that you think others would want to buy or discuss, it might not be worth notifying everyone about?

Of course, this is coming from a perspective of both building and using tools that notify for new pantry items on the warehouse, and as someone who is usually too slow to share the deals here that I consider worth sharing (🤣), so I can see how some people might want to have a wider view of what's available.

          • @sircrumpet:

Yes 100%, I meant to mention that earlier but forgot. I try do some basic price checking to see if it's a good deal, rather than just sharing everything. The word 'deals' is still in the forum title.

  • +1

Love all the hard work to be bothered posting. Its always exciting to find if you win the lottery of finding stock.
    Keep it coming please.

    • -1

Agree. Who doesn’t like it, turn off notifications and make your own thing your way!

      • +3

Would you consider if instead of adding another comment with a new item, perhaps editing your last comment if you were already the last one to post something?

        • I might if the majority thinks that is the right thing to do, but it really depends on the admin.

          • +5

            @Thrifty Dan:

            really depends on the admin

As that is what I am doing myself (combining multiple items into a single comment and editing the last comment if new items come out shortly after, within 5 minutes or so), needless to say that I do believe that is the best thing to do. Especially for single items. Although if there are multiple quantities of a good deal for a single item, then a standalone comment is warranted.

At the same time I am not going to tell members, who are taking time out of their day sharing things with others, what to do. But if you are asking me, then yes that is probably the best way to tread the line between letting people know about deals and having too many notifications.

          • +2

            @Thrifty Dan:

but it really depends on the admin.

I did share my thoughts above and you indicated that you were willing to follow admin's advice (me), but that doesn't seem to be the case?

2 comments, 3 mins apart for the same item but different flavours.

    • +8

Just remember, 736 people get notified if you post a top level comment

  • +13

Here's an electronics deal, cos apparently yall keep complaining:

We understand this is low stock thread, but it used to be more about just random stuff amazon stuff from electronics to whatever. But now its being completely overtaken by pantry "deals"

GSP 300 by EPOS Gaming Headset with Noise-Cancelling Mic, Flip-to-Mute, PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Smartphones (1000238) - $38.35

    • Like New - Item will come in original packaging. (1 in stock)
    • Like New - Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. (1 in stock)

EPOS GAME ZERO Gaming Headset - Black - $84.33

    • Like New - Item will come in original packaging. Packaging will be damaged. (1 in stock)

Seriously, this is a thread where we all come together and try and get a deal (as well as contribute for some), and you guys really complaining about notifications. If you're sitting here all day waiting for notifications, you need to do something better with your life

    • -8

Wow , didnt realise we lived in a dictatorship where we cant discuss things especially being a community and a forum it should be about discussion and people voicing their preferences.

Btw both deals are gone, not sure who does the crossing out? is it the Poster or Hamza?

      • +2

Hamzas thread. He can do what he likes. Do you complain as well if you don’t get into a club? It’s their choice and not a public place. I would suggest to put an end on these useless discussions to put on a vote for all subscribers. It’s hard to accommodate over 700 different opinions but at least the majority.

        • People need to learn the difference between having a discussion on a community forum, otherwise whats the point of the forum. And Hamza even pointed out thats why he combines posts to try to reduce the amount of posts.

      • +1

        …where we cant discuss things…

No one said you can't discuss things. Some voiced their opinions in complaining about notifications (fair enough), and I voiced my opinion about that opinion. Which is basically:

about discussion and people voicing their preferences.

        And also

Btw both deals are gone, not sure who does the crossing out? is it the Poster or Hamza?

Since you replied, I can't cross it anymore. Only mods (usually @hamza23) can. We also can't combine stuff, if people reply to the original comment. There's limitations here, and only mods have the power to change things

        • Right, so people who dont agree with you are complaining but people who do are voicing their preferences. I dont have a problem with you disagreeing, its the way you did it and the context of it. Other people also disgreed but did it in a normal conversational method.

I mean the whole irony is this Thread was created because people would have discussed or "complained" about low stock deals being posted on normal ozbargain threads….But now if people try to voice something, it needs to be put into a negative context in order to dismiss the whole conversation by some who dont agree with it?

You dont have change or improvement without discussion and people being allowed to come forth and state ideas or preferences.

@Tyrannosaurus Rex: Yes that does help, but not with what they were complaining about this morning. Lots of 1 deal item posts for very very low stock still hit a notification every few mins

If all at the same time should group into one top level post.

@Tyrannosaurus Rex: People were talking about the top level comments basically about the amount of them and certain types of posts. Thats basically what i subscribe too, toplevel and replies to my comments. Probably the best option for most people i reckon.

            @lonewolf:

so people who dont agree with you are complaining

My original comment wasn't even intended to be agreed or disagreed upon. It wasn't even a poll. I wasn't trying to get people to agree with me. Also with your comment here:

getting notifications for them filling up your usual ozbargain notification folder :(

Every new notification just replaces the last one. I don't see a problem with that. Unless what you want is for mods to create a new thread titled "(Amazon AU / Amazon AU Warehouse) Insufficient Quantity GROCERY Deals (Post Your Low Quantity Deals Here)"

Other than this, people are going to continually post grocery deals, and as I said before, the limitations of not being able to edit the comment to add more after someone has replied to the comment means people are going to have to continually post new level comments.

I'm not mad at you or anything. Everyone here is voicing their opinion which is a good thing

@I Smell Pennies: not relevant but about notification, i wish they can combine if one post hit more than 1 keyword.
for example i set watch list of xiaomi, vacuum, and aliexpress.
when there is post of xiaomi vacuum in ali i get 3 notifications instead of just one

              • @CyberMurning: Whats this watch list? Where do you go to set it up?

                • +1

                  @lonewolf: Search alerts.

Once set you can see/manage them here.

They are to be used for keywords. If you are wanting deals on a specific product then use Product subscriptions. They can be seen/managed here.

                  • @hamza23: Thanks mate, Had no clue about the search alert.

@hamza23: Any chance of putting notifications bell in android app sorry ??

ATM we cannot see old notifications on the app

                    Thanks

@USER DC: Unfortunately app development has been stalled (although we are still looking at the issues you raised earlier about it not appearing the Google Play store for some devices, that should be fixable).

The app development was done by a third party and the idea was to get to a basic useable app, but Scotty isn't wanting to put further resources into it at this time. We know there are quite a few things like that which would be good to have, and also fixing the notification bug where it doesn't take you to the notification you can click on, hopefully one day.

@hamza23: statistically looking from the begining of this thread from end of August-22 to end of Fed-23 (6 months) there were 35 pages of posts
from march-23 to now (3 Months) we have about 25 pages of post.
I think most earlier used to look up the grocery page for amazon warehouse or follow sir crumpets twitter for the pantry deals.
so that is the reason there were much less posts..
I assume @AaronR misses the thrill of finding the deals.. expecially where the quantity is less than 5 by the time you click on the post its sold out & get dejected.. maybe we can post pantry only if there is more than 5 qty?
edit i have no idea how to tag so just replying to your comment as you are the mod.@Thehairpolice,@I Smell Pennies

You also got an extremely high chance of grabbing the deal if you do this, like what @hamza, myself and many others do. It's also more fun that way. Chances of grabbing the deal from an OzB notification is decreased and near impossible depending on the time between the person first sees it on Amazon and how long that person takes to type up the deal onto this thread.

            • @I Smell Pennies: I am not sure what you mean by every new notification replaces the last one? Do you have a mailing package that adds the content of the new mail to the previous mail from the same sender? as in adding together the posts into one mail? Or do you have it setup to overwrite the previous one.

I think what the OP and how i use it, is the email we receive can be looked at and has a link / post about the deal. And the no. of them seem to have increased a lot to the point where going through them all means you either end up just deleting them or save to look at it at a later date of course which doesnt work well with low stock threads / posts. They also go into the same folder as normal ozbargain emails / notifications due to coming from the same domain. The latter part i presume i can possibly edit on my mail package to get them to send to another folder altogether but it still probably doesnt get to the original comment being talked about.

But anyway if it is this way thats fine. Hamza has been kind enough to combine alot of them which is great and saves people a lot. But its a lot of work for one person to do.

@lonewolf: OHHHH, the entire time I thought you meant OzBargain notifications. I didn't know you had every single insufficient deal comment notification go to your email. Which makes sense why it is very annoying for some of you.

I don't have these general notifications go to my email, only private messages. I hope other suggestions here fixes the issue, now I can sympathise with you
