Whats the ideal receipe for making espresso with this bean?

    • +1

      Nice question!

We've got you covered. You'll find our recommended brewing recipes on our coffee bags, we have them listed for black and milk based drinks too :)

  • What roast is this? Would it be good in an automatic espresso machine (magnifica s)?

    • Morning Azif,

      Great question!

We omni roast, so it's a Medium roast suits to both espresso and filter methods, it should be delicious on your machine at home :)

  • Hi OP 1kg is showing as $30 for me, am I doing something wrong? Thx

    • I have a hunch you've got 2x500g selected, which is $29.99. 1x1kg is $26.39. On the product page you can select between the two options under the packaging menu tab. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

      • Ahh yes thanks that’s it. Is it all roasted same date or if I delay will it be fresher? Thanks again

        • +1

Perfect, mystery solved. We aim to dispatch all our coffee fresh within 48 business hours of roasting and we also roast-to-order e.g. if you select dispatch in the second week of September, then your coffee will be roasted in September. This helps prevent any wastage and means you get super fresh delicious coffee, win-win :)

  • Just tried our first bag and ain't too shabby, both wife and I approve.
Actually. placed a delayed order so we don't need to think about coffee in a months time. Is it possible to change the date just before we start to realise we're running low? Thanks

    • That's terrific to hear, music to my ears, very happy you're both enjoying our fresh coffee. Thank you for placing another order, it really does mean a lot!

Sure thing, we can make that happen for you, we do our best to be as flexible as possible. Just send an email to [email protected] if you need to change your delayed dispatch date :)

  • Hi Tom

Is the recommended brew time printed on the front of the bag from when the button is pressed (including pre infusion) or from first drop of coffee from portafilter?

I'm using a Breville Bambino Plus

    • Great question!

It includes "pre infusion." With the Bambino Plus, start counting from when you hear the pump engage (few seconds after you hit the button), you'll also want to use the same ratios but with a 16 grams dose instead of 20 grams :)

      • Thanks, that's very helpful. I've been counting from button press and wanted to make sure I'm doing it right. Will do it from pump engage going forward.

        I've been dosing 18g, 36 out. ~ 28 seconds from button press.

Will have to give 16g a try. Is that 16g/16g out or 16g/32g out?

        • Glad it was helpful :)

18g is OK for this one, just because it has a double walled basket I'd recommend the 16g.

          Try out "16g/32g out"

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks. I'm actually using a non pressurised double basket

            • @djevoultion: Sure thing, try 16g/32g and 18g/36g to see which you prefer :)

              • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks, I've been testing over the last few days. I'm pretty happy with 16g/32 out with 25 to 30 second extraction time

Will need to try 1:1 ratio to see if that would work better in milk coffees

                • @djevoultion: Terrific to hear, always great went testing goes well, hope you enjoy the 1:1 even more :)

                  • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks for your help. For 1:1 using 16g, should I aim for the same 25 second ish extraction time?

                    • @djevoultion: Great clarification check!

Keep all the same settings you have for 1:2, pull the normal shot and stop the extraction at 1:1. A 1:1 shot should be around 18 seconds :)

      • Interesting. I always start timer straight after pressing the button on Bambino plus.

Anyway, is the receipe on the bag correct?
It says milk based ratio is 1:1 rather than 1:2.. ?
While black coffee espresso says 1:2 ratio, 27 seconds..
Shouldn't it be the other way around?

        • +1

Some machines engage the pump virtually at the same time the button is pushed, with the Bambino there's usually a slight delay.

They're correct, yet only a guide, so feel free to experiment. White is a double ristretto, which we find allows the flavour to nicely cut through the milk. However, for black coffee we recommend a double espresso, as a ristretto we find a bit too concentrated for a straight espresso or long black. Hope this clears up your question :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks!
            I shall try 1 to 1 ratio.
On the bag it says 20g in 20g out for 18 seconds. I have 18g basket, so if I use 18g in 18g out, do I still aim for 18 seconds or should be less?

I am liking 1:2, 18g in 36g out around 25-27s at the moment!

            • +1

@OzFrugie: Terrific to hear you're enjoying it!

Still aim for around 18 seconds. Essentially you're restricting the existing shot AKA stopping the shot early. Keep all the same settings you have for 1:2, pull the normal shot and stop the extraction at 1:1 :)

  • Looks like this has just ended? I shared with a friend who ordered and tried to order not 15 minutes later!

    • Appreciate you reaching out and sharing too!

Deal is back open until midnight :)

      • Grabbed two bags! Looking forward to it

        • Terrific, thank you so much for your order :)

  • Thanks, keen to try you guys out

    • +1

Sure thing, glad it all worked out :)

Thank you for placing your first order with us, it's truly appreciated!

      • I ordered last week with delivery option on 19 Aug. Still today (22nd) waiting for carrier to pickup :(

        Your package is

        Awaiting carrier pickup

        • +1

I can confirm your order was dispatched on the 19th as promised. The next tracking update you'll see is when it's been processed through the first sorting facility of the delivery company :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: Thanks for speedy update. Was hoping 19 would be the pickup date

            • +1

@freedomofspeech: You're spot on, that was when your order was picked up by the delivery company, but they'll scan it to prompt the next tracking update once it's been processed through their sorting facility :)

              • @LimeBlueCoffee: All good mate thanks alot for speedy response here.

I see people use this one and Airjo (or swapped from one to the other) - Any guidance for Breville Barista Express, are the settings similar? Or good starting point for tuning the perfect shot?

                • @freedomofspeech: Sure thing :)

We don't generally comment on other companies, as we like to sail in our own direction, so I'll have to leave any setting comparisons between the two to the Oz B Community. We put our recommended brew guides on our bags, covering both black and white coffees. I'd recommend following the guide ratios based on an 18 gram dose for the Barista Express and tweak the settings from there. Once you'll pulled a shot or two feel free to email with any questions [email protected]

                  • @LimeBlueCoffee: Received the coffee and tried it out.
Around 20g in, 45g came out.

That's happening at outer grinter setting 5 and extraction just at the max within range.

I mainly drink with milk in barista express. And would like it stronger (felt very week)

Hope should i adjust from here?

                    • @freedomofspeech: Appreciate you reaching out, I'd recommend you follow the brew guide listed on the bag and adjust from there :)

                      Milk based 1:1 ratio 18 second extraction e.g. 20 in : 20 out : over 18 seconds and add 150ml of 63 degree c heated milk

If you'd like it even stronger then try the black recipe 1:2 ratio 27 second extraction e.g. 20 in : 20 out : over 27 seconds

Also try those ratios with an 18 gram dose as you've got the Barista Express :)

I'll be able to help more if you could please email the following to [email protected]

                      1) A photo of the coffee puck in the basket after extraction
                      2) A photo of the coffee puck once knocked out after extraction
                      3) A video of the shot being extracted (will be able to tell if the shot is channeling, needs a finer or coarser grind size…)

  • The household has really been enjoying these beans! 1:2.1 (21g in, 44g out) in around 30s + 200mL of milk.

    • Wonderful to hear, thank you so much for your order and terrific feedback!!!

Always love to hear when people experiment to find their perfect shot :)
