  • Apart from more chippers and width capability, is there much difference to this set? https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B072MJ2V9J/ref=ox_sc_sa…

This one is much easier to set up and adjust - you just set up blades according to width required and micro adjust by clicking the dial.

For someone with zero clue about woodworking, what can you do with these that a router can’t do?

    • slice up zombies

I think the main difference is speed. This would be a lot faster than a router. I've really wanted to have access to a decent dado set about twice over the years. It's a lot of money for something even most woodworkers will not use a lot, but if you're churning out work quickly then this would be a great time saver.

      • if you are building a timber framed house, and either charging or paying for time this would be much faster than a router …. if you are just building an extension or reno, then router could do the same as you probably have more time and are doing framing yourself,

        • Do table saws get used much for framing? I thought it was mainly hand held circular saws and multiple, quick cuts if they need a lap joint. My experience of that side is fairly limited though.

  • Approved by Sigmund Freud!

Some Freud router bits have a mark engraved on the side labelled "minimum insertion". I'm sure even Sigmund would have had a little chuckle at that.

Though he would have preferred a Mumo set instead

Does it give you a socio-sexual explanation whenever you make an error while woodworking?
