Amazon reviews suggest a possible battery issue?

Here’s a review on Tom’s Guide which scored pretty well:

I would recommend blackshark in this price range instead. Not bad in quality and sound and really good customer service.

  • Which of these would be first for making calls to block ambient. Oise going thru the mic?

  • Anyone with experience of the AU-XT ANC Noise Cancelling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones?

Pulled the trigger on the ANC verison of the Stream, let's see how it goes.

  • $149 ——>$29?!?

Man, I am a sucker for steep discounts. Might as well add another pair of cheap wireless earphones. They can't last that long if they are that cheap right? Right??

This will be my 2nd sub $50 pair I have bought through OZB, so I might as well compare these to the SoundPeats T2

    • Same here but all reviews point to average sound so maybe the price drop is warranted. That said this would have bonus of ANC. I would have considered if not for recent purchase of Creative Zen at pre order pricing

  • So this looks like a re-skin of the SoundPeats brand. I enjoy the multiple colour choices on offer but I don't need another pair of cheap Bluetooth earbuds or headphone!

  • “ All units are sold BRAND NEW and as is.”

What is this weasily sounding wording, you saying there is no warranty on these things?

Grabbed the AU-XT ANC Noise Cancelling Wireless Over-Ear Headphones. Thanks.

  • I ordered the Au Flex ANC. The product page says they are in-ear planar magnetic. Curious to try them out. The price is perfect.

Mine arrived yesterday. They're really comfortable and sound great but battery drains 10% every 10 mins :(

    • +3

Just because they say "sold as is", doesn't mean they can just waive consumer rights and is generally considered a misleading practice according to the ACCC. No idea what the customer service is like them so you may be in for an uphill battle.

    • I also have this issue on my right earphone..
      this is what I bought
      AU-Stream ANC Noise Cancelling Wireless In-Ear Headphones(rio.com.au) - $49 (Last Sold $119; RRP $239)

Trying to contact the sales to see I can have it replaced.

    • Thankfully we havent had any come back to us faulty but please contact us and we will happily assist you! We had one person bring a pair back with the same issue but turns out they were using their laptop to charge and not a brick plugged into power. As soon as we plugged the case in to a power point we had no issues with the headphones. Please try charging the case using a brick (at least 2Amps) as they do need a bit of power to charge them up properly, and once this is fully charged then charge the headphones in the case. If you still have issues please let us know :)

      • I will definitely be trying this. They're the most comfy pair of in-ears I've owned so I want to keep them.

        Thank you for responding!

      • Hi Rep,

I have tried with different socket different cable and still right ear is charging or it lasts only 5 mins battery life. seems faulty to me.
I have also messaged the live chat but got an SMS saying that all AU-STREAM is sold out hence no can't do replacement. It recommended me to pay$20 to upgrade mine in person but I am not in melbourne…
        What to do now?

          Hi Rep,

Similar issue here, battery lasts about 10 -15 mins of playback then I get the battery low warning. Have tried charging the case with EarPods in using a 2.4 amp power brick a few times, no change unf.

Any other suggestions or just exchange/ refund?

      • Ok I tried this and the battery seems to have become worse. It went down 50% in 20 mins. Anything else I can try?

      • +2

Similar to everyone else's comments on here mine arrived faulty, with the right ear draining in less than 5 minutes. I have tried all your solutions and nothing works!!

Seems like these were sold in full knowledge that they were faulty and this was a last ditch attempt to make money on them without having to offer any type of refund/warranty by making the postage costs prohibitive given the price of the product..

Well done rio sound, you have deceived many people and made yourself some tidy profit!

I just received my AU-STREAM ANC and they last about 5min at the most for battery life. I charged them for 3hrs and all the lights indicated full charge, with in 2min; I get battery low and then they just die. I will charge them overnight and see and if still the same, I’ll contact them tomorrow and see what they suggest. Pain in the ass if I need to send them back.

Just received the Au Flex planar magnetic earphones. I was skeptical after all the comments. But, I am blown away by the sound quality. These are phenomenal. The separation, detail, clarity and sound reproduction across frequency range is outstanding. Thanks for the great deal. ANC, transparency mode and USBC charging are added bonus. Will watch out for the battery life and report back. $89 for planar magnetic earphones seems like a steal to me.

I spent late into the night listening to music on these. The battery appears to hold up well. Seems like I am one of the few that got a great deal. I can't believe such great headphones did not get the fame they deserve. The steep RRP could be the reason. Once again thanks to RIO for the great deal.

    • I just bought their last pair and mines perfectly fine, have to say no issues in dealing with them at all. I have bought very high end audio from RIO and never had an issue period. Thanks again and love the deal

Hi I ordered au anc for my son as a gift and my. I gave it to my son yesterday, but he told me they are faulty. The left one does not have sound at all and the the right one stopped working quickly as well.

I’ve tried myself, charged them overnight, I noticed the left one pawed off in less 20 seconds. The right one told me battery low in a minute. I am vey unhappy about this.

  • Has anyone been able to get a solution for the battery issue? Haven't had any response from the rep, wondering if others have had more luck

Edit: after emailing I have been asked to send the earphones in for assessment at my own expense which is bizarre considering the product is faulty. I'm also still being told to charge the item "correctly", when that clearly isn't the issue. I won't be sending it in and warning against shopping here in the future.

    • I did send them back at my own expense. They seem reluctant to refund and end up sending me another pair. I'm still waiting for it to arrive but already over with the drama…

      • +1

I have never come across a company that makes you return a faulty item at your own expense. I'm reluctant to pay for shipping only to get sent a replacement that also doesn't work, currently I have 0 faith in this company to ship me a product that actually works.

Also interesting that they said no refunds or returns but will go back on that as long as I pay for shipping.

        • I'll see how it goes with the new pair. Nonetheless, not a great experience 😞

          • @colorlessblack2: I'm fingers crossed you get a working unit! These were my favourite earphones while they worked :(

            • +1

@peppet: they end up sending me AU-FREQUENCY non ANC version. It's working fine finally! However the case is lighter than AU-STREAM's one and that's when I realised there's no wireless charging… Anyway, can't be bothered sending it back again. I'll just make do.

              • +1

@colorlessblack2: Oh wow I'm pleasantly surprised it works.
I'll talk to their guy again and confirm what they plan to send me because I definitely only want the same model or equivalent with the same features.

Thanks for the updates! Feel a little more hopeful now

              • +1

@colorlessblack2: Does that mean you paid more for it than the actual price? Considering it is non ANC version as well as no wireless charging. Did they refund you the gap?

                • +1

@usbc activist: I bought AU-STREAM non ANC version for $29 and I assume AU-STREAM non ANC is the same price. But yes I have paid more for the shipping ~$10 I haven't contacted them but I doubt they'll refund the gap.

I recently bought 6 pairs of these for the family had an issue with only one but sent it in and the team at RIO kick started the charge works fine now…I suggest send them in or get them to kick start the charge in store
Have to say though what a bargain on these awesome headphones for the money!! Thanks RIO
