First post so take it easy haha, found this while searching for a replacement laptop for my currently dying, fatigued, plagued with covid one. Great deal, $400 cheaper than an original one i saw on here with the 3080, not the 3060.

    This is a fantastic laptop

    Maximum Graphics Power 105 W

    From the manufacturer
    for anyone interested

Probably better off with the 3070ti model then, it supports up to 130w of GPU power, and has the (15%) more powerful 12700H, which will also use less power when running on the e cores.

Why did they put DDR4? I does not make sense if it's using gen 12th

        • +5

ddr5 sodimms at the speeds and latency they current runs at provides negligible improvement compared to ddr4 sodimm. Its true that its a cost saving feature on gigabytes part, but that also means you can upgrade to 32gb or 64gb kits for much cheaper compared to if they are ddr5.

      • That laptop is even better!

      • $2749 at mWave

      • Where are you getting the 130w? Everything i'm seeing says 115w?

" This allows the laptop to operate with a total thermal design power (TDP) up to 160 watts (45 watts for the processor and 115 watts for the graphics card)"
Nvm, it does say maximum 130w further down on the specs. Seems like an OK review from JT too https://youtu.be/uZA95LcW2YQ?t=275 - possibly no mux switch though, from the searching i've done

      That's really low….
I would expect this to have lower performance than most 3070 laptops.
And expect that to be even worse if gaming at it's native 4k resolution.

      • This is what I was thinking too - the legion 5 pros that were going for ~2197 (as low as <1900 with cashback) were running 3070s at 140w.

  • There is another model with amoled screen, same price!

    • +1

I believe it is still the amoled screen, the linked video shows amoled, and the next picture down the page states 'Samsung Amoled'.

4k oled isn't that great for gaming, 105w 3080 will struggle

more of a creative workloads machine with that gorgeous colour reproduction

for gaming Aorus 15 with 3070Ti and QHD is better, but I am not a big fan of this gen of Aorus: ditched mechanical keyboard, and design became more meh (subjective)

    • Well at least 4k screens look better in 1080p…

  • I’m looking for a laptop that I can stream and edit on (adobe suite) primarily. But in the back of my head should I be looking at a Lenovo or Zephyrus instead or is this just as good?

Thinking that this one may be the choice though:

The ASUS equivalent to this would be from the ProArt StudioBook series, the AERO is more of a creator focused laptop than the gaming laptops you mentioned.

      12700H + 130W 3070 Ti would likely outperform a 11800H + 105W 3080 across the board

      • Thank you friend. I think I’ll take the plunge.

Nope terrible deal, cause is a 11th gen CPU.

  • What were they thinking with that webcam placement though? 😂
