ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 KO V2 OC 12GB Video Card $499, ASUS Radeon RX 6600 Dual $325 + Delivery @ OnlineComputer

530

Delivery looks to be around $8 to Sydney and $12 to Melbourne metro.

Reviews of the store are mixed (particularly negative regarding delivery) so I'd recommend buyers to purchase in-store if possible

Another notable deal is the RX 6600 which they have for $325 here

  • is this seller worth the time and potential stress?

    • +1

      No.

I dealt with them years ago with a faulty laptop battery on a newish laptop. Initially they were ok requested I send them the battery for testing etc. Then I am guessing they had issues sourcing or didn't want to replace it just started dodging my calls and enquiries. Had to call fair trading and they just dodged their calls as well.
I just gave up as it wasn't worth my time to keep pursuing it.

They are the worst computer company I have dealt with ever.

  • +2

    KO = OK ?

    • +5

KO seems to be positioned between their Dual and TUF versions. Bigger heatsink than the dual, and maybe the higher quality materials of the TUF according to some claims, but with 2 fans like the dual, rather than the 3 of the TUF. I don't think you'd really need 3 fans on a 3060 though.

      • +3

I have the 3070 KO. It's fine. Silent at idle, vaguely audible but inoffensive at 100% load. It handles the 3070 just fine (no throttling). Seems as well made as you can ask for a plastic shroud (metal backplate)

So the 3060 will be absolutely fine if it handles the 3070.

      • Slight correction to my previous post, apparently it might be the same heatsink as the Dual with a larger shroud, and the same PCB as the TUF version, whatever that means exactly.

This should be the cheapest rtx 3060 deal up to date right? I can't remember any 3060 deal start with 4xx$ price

    • +8

Wow you might be right. I've been under the assumption that this was already in the 300s given the 6600XT price for a month or so now. The Nvidia tax sure is stubborn.

      • +6

Yeah given the direct competitor 6600 XT is way cheaper and better in raw performance, this truly is nvidia tax.

        • +2

Give it time for them to crack too.

        • +8

Careful, you'll attract the "but I need Nvidia for all my important professional workloads" crowd with that kind of logic.

          • +4

@xyron: Well some of us do, buy yeah if you don't then AMD is definitely a far better option right now

          • +1

@xyron: Don’t worry, we are also annoyed by the nvidia tax, nvidia is now only a person specific choice for people until they lower their prices to something reasonable

            • @Pugkin: And if they still don’t do well, then I might dabble in different software to save me self some money

          • +2

@xyron: I just have PTSD from buying a 5700XT, I was moving from my RX480 which was a fantastic card with zero issues to the 5700XT, which I heard had a lot of stability issues, but I thought "well the card has been out for 6 months now, surely newer drivers for the card have fixed this issue", nope, still just consistently crashed within 10 minutes of even half intensive gaming.

Tried every suggestion online that I could get my hands on before reaching the advice of replacing my PSU, which even if that was the fix I wasn't going to bother doing, so I just got a refund and bought a 2070 super instead which has had zero issues for the past two years now.

    • +1

Yeah I think this is by far the cheapest 3060 deal ever, and the Asus KO is considered a higher build quality model, as far as I know.

    • +1

this should be consider more like $5xx, since it is only a $1 less

  • whos buying haha

    • Hrm I was about to, a bit apprehensive about the bad order experiences which was mentioned, but then on the checkout they only accept Paypal, cash, or direct deposit, which seems odd, and now I'm a bit more concerned about what that means if the item never arrives or something.

      • Surely you’d be covered with PayPal? You might be without your funds for a little while though if it goes badly

        • +1

I'm not sure if Paypal would have the same safety nets as a bank with chargebacks etc, and also haven't updated Paypal in years with a non-expired card so it was a bit of a hoop to jump through which combined with the other issues left me kind of unsure about whether to proceed.

I think this is probably the best 3060 deal that will be seen for a while, but it's no good if the courier is rubbish and it doesn't show up for a month or something…

edit: Ah screw it, updated and ordered. Thanks OP, now I can stop checking GPU deals every day for endless months. Hopefully the old GPU can be sold for ~$150 making this only $350

          • @CodeExplode: should keep waiting..

GPUs are only going to get cheaper moving forward
due to oversupply and crypto miners selling their gear

            • +1

@pinkybrain: I suspect they more likely will drop further than not, but I've been waiting 2 years and don't want to risk waiting longer if prices jump again for any reason, with some storm clouds on the horizon with the drama coming from China.

If prices drop dramatically than the resale value of my old card would probably be wiped out too, so by subtracting the current resale value from this price it's probably fair to say it would need to drop almost that much below this in the future. Given that this is a higher tier model that could be a long time away to get this value again.

And hey, there's a chance i could always resell this and buy a higher tier card cheap and not lose so much, while being locked in for at least having a card now too.

Rambling thoughts of somebody who has been checking GPU prices every day for months…

              • +1

@CodeExplode: Yeah I’m tempted cause my old 970 still goes for 150 ish so making the card 350 is good value

  • +8

This is why you should hodl. The reduced crypto demand will show more over the coming weeks. I would expect decent 6600XT models for sub $350 soon and 3060ti for sub $550 and quite possibly even less.

These are lower prices than usual, but only a measly $30 cheaper than what these cards have cost over the past 5 months.

    • +2

It's not just cheaper, it's a higher tier model for cheaper, which is a more noticeable difference.

I've caved, it should work out ~$350 in the end for a card which will last me a few years, after selling my current card. I'd like to hold for bigger savings, but it also has to be balanced against the potential missed opportunity if prices skyrocket again due to something like war in Taiwan (though we might all be dead then) or another global pandemic. I'd rather potentially overspend by a hundred now and be locked in, than have to spend a thousand more for the same thing later, or not even have the option later.

3060 Tis seems to be resistant to price changes, maybe due to being lower performing 3070s and they just don't produce enough defective versions of those. Anything higher and it would require a new PSU, so this will do. The 12 gb of vram is probably better for my occasional machine learning uses anyway.

      • Can you update once u receive the unit? Just want to confirm they are a reputable seller

        • +1

It's apparently shipped a few hours after the workday started, which makes me optimistic, though the tracking number doesn't work yet.

        • +1

Just arrived. Got a tracking number on Monday morning, courier picked it up in Sydney on Tuesday afternoon, arrived in Queensland on Thursday morning. It all went really well for me.

I was pretty worried with the courier's reputation, but it could depend on location, or maybe those who have a good experience are less likely to speak up (but then you'd think all couriers would have a similarly bad reputation so it's probably not that).

Either way, I'm pretty happy, and have zero buyer's remorse. After months of daily checking I finally have an RTX card and my build is finished. :D

There's a slight chance the box was already opened, the sticker on one end seemed loose and dirty (you could open it either end), but the card seems fine.

          • +1

@CodeExplode: Awesome mate! Happy for you and thanks for the update. I would've probably bought it now based on your feedback but alas its out of stock now. Will wait for the next deal to come around

  • Good to see these cards coming down to almost-reasonable prices.

  • how come 3060 comes with 12gb, while we struggle to source 3080 with 12 for a reasonable price

    • +1

The 3060 has slower & cheaper RAM. It's a marketing gimmick. Look at memory bandwidth, in the 3060ti/3070/3070ti with 8gb RAM it is much higher.

      • +1

Bigger number = better is basically what it’s for

  • +3

Hodl for 3060ti and 6600xt at these prices

  • +1

    sub $500 for a decent tier/brand 3060 is good,

  • +4

3060 performs worse than a 5700xt dont do it to yourself

    • and u can buy 5700xt with higher hash power and more efficient with much less $$

    • -1

But has more VRAM, ray tracing and DLSS - and is newer so will likely have longer driver support

      • -1

Ray tracing is terrible so dont worry about that. DLSS is good but aparrnetly high fidelity fx is also decent now

  • +2

Not a bad deal if you just want larger GPU memory and cuda without paying a ton.

  • -1

People should buy 3 year old mining 2060 super on eBay for $365 instead of this brand new 3060 -_- /s

    • People should buy 3 year old mining 2060 super on eBay for $365 instead of this brand new 3060 -_- /s

A new RTX 2060 (non-super) can be had for $399 sometimes ($420 now on Amazon selling from amazon itself). The 2060 is not a bad choice if you want to save some money and want to stick to the vendor with around 80% PC market share. No real need to be worried about over-used cards.

      $499 is a decent price for a 3060 though.

      • Exactly. Though, ebay buyers still pay up to 365 for used 2060s lol, when as you say, can get a brand new one for 399 delivered, but why get a 399 2060 when you can just get this 3060 for 499. hence the '/s' at the end of my sarcasm ;)

  • +1

6600 is good price for low level gamers

  • Also correct me if I'm wrong, the Asus KO model is one of a few that have 5 output. But we can only use maximum for 4 (or 3) at once?

  • +1

RTX 3060 deal is sold out

  • +1

Seems to have the 3060 at 499 back in stock?

  • So going this or the 6600 xt .. I have a 1440p ultrawide monitor I’ll love to fully use.

    • +1

AMD cards can give you much better value right now and they work better with Linux, though if you want to do any machine learning stuff on Windows then Nvidia is the only option. Nvidia cards also have better raytracing and super scaling to higher resolutions, but I don't think this card is powerful enough to really do those anyway, and there's not much stuff which uses it.

      • yeah its funny I would love to play with some linux distros but really like the idea of 12GB for HD textures

  • The 6600XT was $349 recently, I wouldn't go lower GPU than that. I don't think the pricing here warrants a seller with minimal RMA reputation.

Ideally a $399 12GB is what I'm waiting for, the VRAM isn't going to stop increasing just because of FSR.
