Just my opinions, the main differences between UST projector ( some might call it Laser TV) and TVs are

      Pros:
it would have much bigger size, even 100" is about 50% bigger than 80"
much better color gamut (Bt.2020 vs Bt.709)
Arguably better movie feeling? as UST projector is reflected light

      Cons:
      Ambient light rejecting capability
      Sharpness especailly the top corners

A tv has worse colour gamut than a projector?

        Give me a spell

        • +4

Oled is usually 70-80% BT.2020 at best
          https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/picture-quality/wide-color-g…
For tri-laser pjs, 107% Bt.2020 is the norm

          • @pilotyuan: Interesting, looks like projectors have made some massive improvements over the past few years

I wonder how much of a real world upgrade it would be to a 4k dlp projector, seems like it would be very noticeable

            • @TEER3X: Yeah, there are lots of laser pjs coming out of market this year

I think that would depens on your actual usage, we have lots of reviews and reality shot on our Youtube channel. Feel free to have a look :)

To say LG OLED TV has inferior picture quality for "movie feeling" compared to UST projectors is a out right lie. there is loads of factors especially HDR performance, frame rate, Contrast, Resolution which will crap all over a UST projector. you'll need something like the native 4k JVC or Sony long throw laser projectors to come close to a OLED performance.

An $8,000 TV for $1,400, did you happen to buy it off a Russia oligarch's yacht?

    • +2

Can you link me the 4k 80" OLED for a third of this price?

With the Bose system ideally but I'll take without.

I ran out of negs so wasn't the one that negged ThunderDownUnder… i will wait for my supply to replenish

    However, ThunderDownUnder…
Were you meant to be posting on your own blog or something?
Do you phone Harvey Norman after watching an advertisment to personally tell them you aren't interested?

  • Very silly question, but can I replace TV with Projector for reasonably lit room ? (Does 2800 ANSI means bright enough!? )

    • +2

Probably yes if you use it with a screen, we have many customers do that.
If you are still hesitated, feel free to send us a pic of your settings and we will give you a wild guess :p

Depends on whether you're ok with a washed out image or not, even with an ambient light rejecting screen the image will still be washed out. Personally I would not go for a projector without a dedicated space that can be completely darkened.

I think you're trying too hard to sell this thing without taking into account the limitation of any sort of projector and any bit of ambient lighting. Alr screen is not magic, you will not get the same amount of contrast as you would with something that is direct lit if your room is reasonably lit. Photos shows absolutely nothing.

So again, it depends on if the person is ok with a washed out image or not.

          • @zorrt: Nah, not trying to hard sell anything, I totally agree this thing is not for everyone.
Like I mentioned above, OLED still wins on amibient light rejecting capability due to the mechanism

          • @zorrt: If have some downlights or bright room will the picture be washed out even with ALR screen?

  • Rep - Any deal on the XY screen?

      Please PM

  • Any relation to Mandingo ?

    • Meaning?

  • +1

Well the projector just like Xiaomi cinema 2 is excellent …will need an ALR screen which adds around 1500 to 1800 for 120 inch and then some .. not worth the price in my opinion ..if you have a dedicated room ..an Epson/BenQ long throw may be a better buy for a larger picture.. nothing matches an OLED though..but the again a 120 inch picture is hard to beat

    • Just want to mention, it has a combo there, only A$800 more for a 120" XY PET Crystal screen :)

      • +1

Yeah bud "Only" 800 more for an xy screen maybe better than buying it direct but still the whole package is way too expensive for a 120 inch or larger pic.IMO either wait or buy a long throw if you have a dedicated theatre room

        • For XY screen, I think A$800 is a steal TBH

  • What is the smallest picture this can produce and how far from the wall would it be ?

  • Is there any difference in performance with the T1? It just seems that you could save a bit by getting a T1 if the Android system isn't a big deal - I would personally be plugging in my own android stick or my Nvidia shield pro into it so the built in software interface wouldn't be that important to me.

    • +1

Not much difference TBH, and you are right. If you use external player and don't need to full CMS (color management system, mainly for color calibration), then you would probably go for Fengmi T1 for a better price.

We have the comparision here, pls check

  • I can’t seem to find any info on what the fan noise is like on this projector. I’ve got a fengmi 4K UST but the fan noise is terrible during quiet scenes. Does anyone know what the fan noise level is like on this model?

    • The fan noise problem has been solved after the 4k model.
You can check our sister website nothingbutlabel.com, there are lots of real test there.
