yes, but each bean is laser scanned and the ones not right get popped off the conveyor belt …..

I am not a fan of Illy, at all.
Locally roasted beans can be had for cheaper/better.

  • the tins are alright for storing other beans, at least

  • Buyer beware - this is not the normal ‘espresso’ blend you get in Coles or Woolies!

  • These are like a year old probably.

  • Last one I bought from Woolworth had no pop sound when opening and was a first time I ever saw mould growing on coffee =( I know, its probably a one off thing, but as mentioned already - there are so many freshly roasted local coffees, that I no longer buy any from the supermarket

  • Illy is great, in Italy.

I might get a lot of flack, but I normally get these as they make a fantastic espresso and the consistency in taste is amazing. I normally order the 3 Kg container and as someone says, the containers are excellent for keeping beans fresh. The 3 Kg goes for $ 135 on Amazon, and yes, I know that's $45 per kilogram, but as someone who drinks espresso without sugar, compared to all the beans I have tried, I like it. I prefer consistency mostly and hit and miss with the range of beans you can get out there, I suggest anyone try a 250g canister of the illy Intenso Espresso Coffee Beans.

Like most things, that's my personal opinion.

  • I love illy coffee, the best coffee, but I have tried the beans from Coles & could not get the same flavour from the Cafe. I do have great success with Vittoria organic

  • How do you use it? Just put into a cup and stir…

Not sure if this is supposed to be a sarcastic comment, but that will not lead to a good time. This isnt instant coffee, it will not dissolve in hot water. Like lots of people say, you can get amazing coffee from local roasters often cheaper per KG than this. BUT, If you make your coffee in a stovetop Moka, and you can only get supermarket coffee, Illy is the best Moka bean you can get from a major supermarket.

So if you are in a smaller town with no local coffee roasters, see if your Woolies or Coles stocks Illy. My (Italian) parents are Grey Nomads who travel all over in a motor home. Illy serves them well if they cant get better beans on the road.
