A decent price drop for those who love these mx keys keyboard. Personally, I have the full-sized version (among 3 other keyboards) and can't say I love it but these things are of a personal preference. At one point I wanted a mini for travel/bringing to work purposes but ended up with an Anne Pro 2 instead.

Previous prices include $122 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/702572 or the rose colour for $95 here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/709329

Logitech MX Keys Mini uses Bluetooth. If you prefer a wireless USB dongle you need to purchase a separate Logitech Bolt USB Receiver for $29-$39. Logitech MX Keys Mini is not compatible with the Logitech Unifying USB Receiver.

I bought the full size version but rarely use the number pad so should buy this one to regain desk space but don't want to waste money

  • What is your pick of the full sized ones?

Recently got the full mx keys. Really annoyed by its forced auto-brightness adjust feature. Why can't they just let you keep it at a certain brightness level? Having to adjust brightness every time you switch off and on is annoying.

Of note the mini uses the bolt instead if unifying receiver. And it's not included as part of the package.

    • It won't bother you after 1 month or so :) I have the same complaint when I first got it

      • On the contrary, the backlighting situation bothers me immensely. I have my home office in my bedroom, and the bloody thing is incessantly pulsing overnight when my computer is off. I have to physically turn the keyboard off each night. There's a warranty voiding hack that involves blocking/disabling the proximity sensor but I wouldn't go that far.

Try removing all the things hanging above the keyboard like monitors? Mine will keep pulsing sometimes if my Mac is off and I push the keyboard under the monitor.

I just turned the backlight completely off in Logi Options. And turn the keyboard off regardless to save battery.

      • ye but why.

    • Interesting you say this. I've got 2 of the full-size ones, and have had them for a couple of years now. Neither of them change the brightness setting automatically at all. I've had the lights pulsing when my computer is off, like zzyss mentioned below, but if i leave it alone, it stops after about a minute.

Are you running the Logitech options software? I've received firmware updates through that a couple of times, so I wonder if that might be the difference.

  • I love the fullsized version, agree the number pad gets in the way of the mouse if you are using cad etc (one hand on kb one on mouse), so I'm a bit on the fence. It's a bit hard to decide which is better, depends how much number crunching you are doing.

I’d love to get one and was very close to buying. However, the layout of those buttons on the bottom left is very annoying for my use case.

FYI, I’m a Mac and PC user, mac for work and PC for gaming. The cluster of the keys Fn, Control, Alt, Cmd/Win make it hard for my work and gaming. Fn key should be removed as it’s out of place.

    • would be confusing as it's different to the fullsized one too. Hard enough knowing which one is the windows button without looking

  • Also consider that there's no home, end, page up or page down keys, nor is there a native solution for mapping them. You have to resort to 3rd party software.

fn + arrow keys is mapped to home, end, page up/down by default.
I have this keyboard and use those keys regularly.

      • Good to know, thanks. The only thing I could find online said what I said above, which made me hesitate to get this 'coz I use those keys a lot.

    • The full-sized mx Keys probably better bet, like mine

    • This would have been the perfect keyboard if it had those keys. Can't do without them.

  • I don't mind the MX Keys Mini and have been using it on our secondary WFH setup for a while now. Things I found frustrating though were the lack of USB receiver included in the box and needing to source a Logi Bolt (which was surprisingly hard at the time). The keyboard itself is fine to type on though.

    • Easier if it comes with the unifying USB, if you're using other devices too - usually get a few spare then for different computers

    • Why not get a Bluetooth receiver for all your wireless devices?

        Bluetooth is rubbish haha

        • ~Didn't neg btw~
I've had my MX Mini since Feb, used solely with Simplecom NB410. Flawless every time.

@Techie4066: Yeah that's cool, whatever works.
Some people take it too seriously
            (Bluetooth keyboard warriors ha)

      • In some enterprise environments bluetooth is disabled.

        • -1

Just uses more Power, interference, less reliable etc. I actually like the unifying receivers

  • How will this compare to a compact (60% / 65%) low profile mechanical keyboard?

    • +1

Quieter. More portable. Easier to clean.
