  • Isn't https://koalabi.com/ also Australian made?

We own the LAST sheepskin footwear tannery in Australia, therefore all other UGG companies send their Sheepskin overseas to be tanned and some even pre-cut before shipping back to Australia 🇦🇺

Why does AU made matter if the price is not the best value?

The price is excellent value considering that it enables an Australian business stay in business and employ Australian workers.

        • +3

Exactly. We need more businesses like this in Australia.

        • +3

          employ Australian workers

          A more appropriate statement is:
          employ people residing in Australia

They may or not be all citizens

The sheepskin down under one will be for the US market where they can't use the Ugg name.

    • Seems a bit strange to market yourself as the only company making luxury sheepskin boots when there's two others that do the same you own. Sheepskin Downunder makes sense for licencing reasons in America but what's the deal with Opal UGG?

      • Companies use whatever domain names they think will get a hit, and to ensure competitors don't buy a relevant name to poach business from them.
        It's the same company.

Yup in WA too shipping kills it

Time for my indoor slippers to move down the line and become my outdoor slippers.

    • +1

They always get mixed up eventually. I find a rotating pattern better, couple days 1 pair, couple days another pair. If the sole get mud on it… compressor time.

  • +27

Bought a pair of these a while ago as a gift, super poor quality. Wool pulled right off quite easily and looked like something on par with Kmart quality. Didn’t even end up gifting it.

    • +6

Yeah i'll second this. The upper and sole of mine had come apart and winter isnt even over yet.

    • +15

I've had mine for about a year. Within about 6 months of semi-daily wear, every single point where my foot contacts the sole is just rubber now. All the wool is gone. They're still comfy enough for me not to want to replace because wool on top is still intact… but I'd not buy another pair of these

      • +1

      • +1

I wear mine night and day working from home. The wool is worn under heel and ball of foot, but still plenty keeping the arch nice and cosy, and across the top of the foot. I expect they will last many winters.

    • +3

Are they definitely from this seller, as there are a few similar ones? I've had mine for a year and been very happy with the quality.

      • +1

I don't know whether these people are confused with some other product, or ozbargain has been infiltrated by Ugg competitors trying to discredit them, or Ugg has quality control issues and some of us just got lucky????

    • Argg, damn I just ordered a pair rip

    • +5

Can confirm. Bought a pair in a deal earlier this year. Within a few days of wear, I noticed fluff everywhere. Bald patches quickly developed where my feet made contact with the slippers.
Threw them out within 6 months. So if you purchase these, just know that it will lose all of the wool and you'll need to replace them after several months.
      They are VERY poor quality.
In comparison I had a pair of Peter Alexander ones I wore for years before they were bald and I replaced with these. Never again.

      • +1

Just to clarify, this is not the experience of everybody.

I'm very happy with mine, to the extent that I bought my wife a pair on the next sale. So we're 2 for 2.

    • +2

I've had a pair of UGG Australia scuffs for more than a year. They've been perfect!
Bought it last year when they had them on special, advertised here on OzB.

    • Appreciate the reviews from everyone! Something I really want to be sure about is which brand are these reviews for? There are so many "Ugg" brands advertising on OzBargain with such similar name and website… and then sometimes the same store sells on eBay under a different name…or is that a different store/brand?!?

Anyway, I think the big two are Ugg Australia and Ugg Express. Then there's Original Ugg Boots, Ugg Nock and Ugg.com.au.

Have all these reviews been for this seller, Ugg Australia?

      • +1

I got a pair a while back from a post here but they were just like the others above. The toe on one side bunched wool up and it felt like something was between my toes all the time then the rest of the wool wore down extremely fast (weeks) and it was left being quite uncomfortable. Others who got them last time have said positive things so perhaps it was a one off but for me personally, it was a disappointing purchase.

They are still used to quickly get the mail here and there but I would not be able to use them for long periods of time.

  • Love these - great quality for an Australian-made product at this price.

I recently bought three pairs to get free shipping.

As they are not easy to clean, I view them as disposable - a pair lasts me two winters.

    Recommended.

  • +2

I've been wearing mine for the last 6 months and they are doing great. Just ordered some more.

    • almost a year for me and I love them, so comfy and warm in winter!

  • +1

Never owned any UGGs, decided I'd give it a go. Bought a pair each for my partner and I. We always get cheapo's so here's hopin. We would only wear these inside though.. Unsure if those complaining about wear/tear use them partially outside like I see so many do. I imagine they'll last longer being inside-only.

    • +1

      they do not haha.

    • +1

Yep, never wear them outdoors. They are totally unsuited for that.

    • The other question is do they wear socks with them? I do and mine are still in good condition, gifted some to fam who do not and they're looking pretty ragged a year later.

      • I often wear socks during colder months with slippers, though as it warms up I stop with the socks and use slippers only so will be half half for me I guess.

      • -1

Nope. Why would you get nice soft wooly slippers and then wear socks? These are instead of socks in my book! Although… sometimes the back of the feet get a bit chilly if it’s really cold.

        • +1

Much comfier with socks and the wool doesn't get grimey.

          • -1

@Cheaplikethebird: Shower. Wear straight away. Take off. Go to bed. No grime as feet are always clean. On the contrary I find socks leave fluff all through the wool

            • +1

@djsweet: Yeah that used to be my process when I would wear shoes without socks but they would still inevitably end up with a layer of grime on the insole, I'm assuming it's oils, dead skin, etc from your feet.

            • +1

              @djsweet: Your feet don't sweat?

      • +1

No, don't wear socks. They are warm enough.

    • +1

Mine have lasted 2 years, will buy new ones next autumn. Not bad quality but not outstanding either.

  • had these for few years, they still feel and look great - highly recommend

  • In general the quality is good. Be aware the bottom feels pretty hard - there's little cushioning that you get from stepping on rubber.

  • They are Not the best quality we think it should be but for $30 I reckon OK.

  • Thanks!
Ordered a replacement pair for my wife.

  • Where do you source the soles for your shoes?

  • The only ones that have lasted more than one season and having wool on the inside are super warm and comfortable.

  • +2

The soles are ridiculously hard. My advice, avoid like the plague.

  • These fall apart after 6 months and the comfort is like being barefoot on concrete fyi

  • +2

The quality is on par with other more expensive Uggs, I've never owned a pair of Ugg boots where the wool didn't wear down on the ball of the heel and toes within a few months.

The unique fact is that the whole shoe is Australian made, I've been to the tannery in Laverton and you can literally see and smell the skins hanging in the sheds, so for that you are getting a very good priced slipper.

  • Take note of the weird sizing system before you buy.

    Eg, Mens 10 is US9 and UK8.

The size name against the product is neither size measure, which is odd. Definitely refer to the size chart. Euro size also listed.

  • Does anybody know how the width is. I always buy 2E in sports shoes. Would these be wide enough?

  • Same here, bought 2 and it's poor quality.

  • Have bought 2 pairs of these and i don't regret it one bit. Sizing isn't weird its just the way it's written on the sole. M8 W10 is what mine says. (So if you are usually a Mens 7 or a Womans 9) -order a size up. I'm a womens 9 so i ordered a 10 which was very snug to start with i thought would be too small but they are perfect. I sometimes wear socks with them but only coz im too lazy to take them off. Either way feet never get sweaty.
