Collect 180,000 Points (Worth $900) When You Install an Origin Solar System @ Everyday Rewards

112

Noticed this in my boosters today and thought it was worthy of a post for anyone considering a solar system.

$900 is a nice little bonus especially if you install a small system.

I have received a quote from Origin previously and found it to be the cheapest by far, plus they offer interest free fortnightly payments over 24 months. The only downside I found is that they couldn't tell me who would be installing it, which was a concern as I live in regional NSW and want that confidence of after sales service etc.

  • I'm not an everyday rewards member, will I be eligible for this if I sign up? Are Origin solar panel prices competitive?

    • I believe it is targeted but if you sign up to Everyday Rewards and download the app, then check the Boosters section to see what you are eligible for.

In regards to the pricing, I found it to be the cheapest quote by far. I think it just depends on your location/postcode to see how competitive they are.

Their price is a rip-off, 3x more than most other solar company. Not really worth it.

And they are just purely a reseller. The bonus points is nowhere near the cost that you are charged for going with them.

    • Thanks for that input - just bought a house in Central Coast NSW (so regional), can you recommend what other companies I should check out? Who did you go with?

www.solarquotes.com.au is a good place to start, you can get three quotes from reputable installers, not sure if it works for regional areas though.

        • Hey great link @17833. Even includes the NT on there

you may find cheaper deal looking around than just on this site.

@samehada: Very true. When I was looking I did find cheaper prices outside of solarquotes. I eventually settled on a company that was on the upper end of the quotes I received, but had very good reviews (was from solarquotes but wasn't one of the three quotes I received). I had a system installed ten years ago that was the cheapest and was a bit of a disaster, then the company disappeared, so I was happy to pay a bit extra to hopefully ensure peace of mind of a quality install and if I have a warranty issue they will hopefully still exist and be able to assist.

These guys were much more expensive on a like for like system. Know your prices before you pull the trigger.

  • Offer is available for all quotes obtained between 08 August and 30 September 2022 (11:59pm AEST).
I also got quote previously. At that time they give $1,000 discount (which is offer for all customer who got quote before 8th Aug). I asked to get the same quote today with today date, but operator said "unfortunately they can't give this $1,000 discount any more.

    Literally you are loosing $100.
Remember this offer is not valid for quote obtained prior to 8th Aug…

  • Update: got a quote. System seems a bit on the expensive side, a bonus is a 20c feed in tariff for two years if your electricity bill is with Origin. I'll have to see what other providers

You can also get the $900 off the price if you prefer not to take Woolworths points to convert to QFF.

basically you a paying for the points on top of their inflated price.

Check ‘Crap Solar’ on FB… then I think you will understand why, in roof top solar, cheap can be soooo nasty.

  • Can anyone provide the quotes they received from origin? Please specify the kw size of the install.

    • I got quoted $5700 after discount for 6.6kw system. Goodwe inverter and 17 x JA panels. Seems expensive to me.

Only good thing is 20c fit and 24months interest free payments.

      • Was that including both the rebate and the govt loan?

      • genuinely asking. how much do you think this system should be worth?

    • I got quoted $5950 after discount for 6.6kw system. Goodwe inverter and 17 x JA panels in NSW Seven Hills.

  • I found Origin's prices to be in line with the other's. However, out of the recommended equipment, they provide the cheapest end of the spectrum with very little warranty (5 years on the inverter + 15 years on the panels).
