That's why I failed me English essay 🤦🏼‍♂️. Fixed anyway, thanks!

  • Timely, I was thinking of buying something from JB

Wouldn’t this be a better stacker?

Buy the Coles MasterCard from tomorrow onwards to get the bonus 2k Flybuys points and head to Woolies to buy the Ultimate gift cards for another 20x Everyday Rewards pts?

If you prefer having rewards points returned instead of cashback from Cashrewards

I'm trying to understand why this comment is being negged? Can someone explain why bargainsgrabber's approach isn't a better deal?

I dont think the coles mastercard can be used to purchase another giftcard. Can anybody confirm this?

        • It worked when I purchased the Mastercards from this previous deal

There was an activation delay and once it had been activated, I redeemed it at Woolies during the Ultimate/TCN gift cards promo

        I have some possible reasons.

Btw, I’m not saying that the approach from @bargainsgrabber is a bad one, but I’m just pointing out that it does not necessarily work for everyone.

        • It assumes you have a Coles and Woolworths near each other. There are more Woolworths locations in Australia than Coles locations (~200 more, if I remember correctly), so not everyone will have a Coles and Woolworths next to each other (or even conveniently near each other).

        • Your local Coles may not have Coles Mastercard gift cards in stock. I went to Coles at lunchtime today and all the $100 denomination gift cards had disappeared from the gift card shelf. Wtf? Seriously?

        • Your local Woolworths may not have Ultimate Home/Teens/Kids gift cards in stock.

        • You actually need to travel to two (and if you look at the last dot point in this list, possible three) stores to get a JB Hi-Fi gift cards. However, with this deal, you can get 5% cashback from the comfort of your own home.

        • Staff at Woolworths may intervene and tell you that you cannot use prepaid gift cards as a payment method for any gift cards at Woolworths. I’ve been told that a couple of times at different Woolworths stores, but Woolworths only implements automatic BIN checks on two types of prepaid gift cards when you’re purchasing some types of gift cards at their stores (and neither are Coles Mastercard gift cards).

        • The gift card offers at Coles and Woolworths are only for bonus Flybuys and Everyday Rewards points, respectively. Some people really prefer an upfront discount or cashback over being “saddled” with a heap of Flybuys or Everyday Rewards points.

        • Ultimate gift cards are not the same as JB Hi-Fi gift cards. Ultimate gift cards are prepaid gift cards that can be redeemed at a list of participating retailers, including JB Hi-Fi. The Ultimate gift cards pictured in the catalogue are the newer Visa versions, although I did recently spot some of the older EFTPOS versions at a Woolworths (which surprised me). Assuming you get an Ultimate (Visa) gift card from Woolworths, you can only redeem 1x in a JB Hi-Fi online transaction, because JB Hi-Fi only lets you redeem 1x Visa card in an online transaction. If you want to redeem more than 1x Ultimate gift card in an online transaction at JB Hi-Fi, you will first need to “convert” your Ultimate gift card into a JB Hi-Fi gift card, but this is not officially allowed by JB Hi-Fi; additionally, JB Hi-Fi’s website will randomly cancel some orders of JB Hi-Fi gift cards paid for using Ultimate gift cards, so you may have to go to a JB Hi-Fi store to do this (and that assumes staff allow you to do this). If you live many kms from the nearest JB Hi-Fi store (e.g. 50+km), this is not the most ideal approach. Btw, I heard a couple of stories from people who placed orders for regular items on the JB Hi-Fi (e.g. Dyson vacuum cleaner, TV, iPad Air) using an Ultimate gift card, but JB Hi-Fi cancelled the order later on, due to the fact that they used an Ultimate gift card as a payment method. It had something to do with the fact that Ultimate gift cards do not support some security features that a debit or credit card usually supports these days (e.g. 3-D Secure, which allows JB Hi-Fi to ask your bank to verify that the registered cardholder is the one who initiated the transaction).

Don't really see an overwhelming argument to insta-neg. 20X rewards points is 10% off (give or take), so factoring the Coles Mastercards portion out of the equation, it's a much better deal. Given the concentration of people in Metro areas, I would also guess that going in-store to purchase your item isn't a massive problem for most people.

    I would wait for the 10% as a minimum (i.e. TCN/ UGC)

How often do these come up?

  • How many can I buy per account?

Is there a limit to how many can be used online ?

    • @wookiemonster

    • Their website states that only 5 can be redeemed in one transaction online, however, I had no issues using over 10 gift cards when buying an S22 Ultra a month ago

How many can I buy per account?

No idea. This would be set by True Rewards, so you may want to contact them.

Is there a limit to how many can be used online ?

There is currently no limit for the number of JB Hi-Fi gift cards you can redeem online. The limit was removed over a year ago.
