Hooray… back to normal special price.

Lunch sorted at work. Great lunch when paired with roast chook. Approx $5 a day.

  • I like making this egg-drop style. Not sure if it helps with the heat or if it's just me getting used to it lol

  • +1

    Sodium packed goodness….

    • This is gripe of mine. They could seriously tone down the sodium (or add healthy sodium substitutes) and not sure it would effect the spicy flavour that much.

Often make the mistake of making this a snack, post a big night out, wake up in the Sahara.

  • +1

Still no special with the Kimchi

    • Which brand of kimchi to use?

      • +2

I mean Nongshim kimchi noodle, they use to on special at the same time

  • Add a slice of cheese on top once the noodles are done. Thank me later.

    • +11

      Thank you.

I'm in the ER right now. The spiciness and my lactose intolerance devastated my anus. Doctor says I may never walk again.

      • -1

lol then this product is not for you.

      • +2

Please pour soup at the other orifice

      • +1

Since it only took you 4 minutes from suggestion to response, you obviously ate the noodles dry, packet and all.

Your ER visit and wrecktum is entirely on you.

      • Have it with a cup of cement…

        • Put the cement in salt bae style.

  • What cheese do people recommend? Their own website recommends Kraft cheese. (Weird that they would recommend a brand name product)

Is that just plain sandwich cheese? Pictures look like a really orange type of cheese ala cheddar.

    • +3

Without seeing the picture Kraft + orange could mean Kraft singles, which is a fake processed cheese that only americans like. It's orange due to an orange dye.
BUT I believe they dye real Cheddar cheese orange too, so could be either. The processed cheese will melt more easily, but tastes horrible (in my opinion)

    • Colby is a nice easy melting cheese.

    • +1

Yeah it's those cheese slices, the ones in the individual little plastic wraps. I'd say you could use any brand, but name brands like Kraft probably have better melting texture.

    • +1

My favourite for these kind of "korean fusion" dishes (or American influenced Korean dishes is technically more correct) are the ones that are similar to the McDonalds cheese made by Kraft:

      Woolies Smokey Cheese
      Coles Smokey Cheese
      Dairylea Burger Slices (previously Kraft)
      Kirkland Signature American Cheddar

Yes its processed cheese blah blah blah but it has that distinct flavor you associate with cheeseburgers and american mac and cheese so it is fitting.

      • which one is your favorite?

    • +2

I believe it was American influence during war that led to the use of kraft singles cheese in Korean food.

It's also why Korean's have a thing called army stew which is like leftover rations like sausages, spam, baked beans etc which often also has a piece of kraft cheese on top.

      • Definitely consistent with what I've heard. I heard that dish came from the Korean war where the americans were sharing their rations with the Koreans, which is how they got that instant noodle kimchi flavour mixed in with cheese, spam, sausages, and baked beans.

  • +2

oh no it is listed on Ozbargain.

    • +1

Better hope you get to a supermarket before the ozbargainers do. Or bonus tip: put in a click&collect order for a date after the special ends.

  • +1

Showing as $5.40 online in Sydney.

    • +1

Just went to buy some at Redfern. Price came up as $5.40.

Edit. Turns out Woolworths and Woolworths Metro price things differently. Redfern is a Metro store.

    • Stick to your vodka cruisers

    • Each to their own…

For soup noodles these win. The Kimchi ones come close if you want a milder version.
For dry noodles Indomie Mi Goreng win.

      • Nope Japanese ramen is always better for soup noodles. This shit is just spicy without any flavour

        • +1

This is just objectively wrong. There is a huge amount of flavour. It's very mushroomy as in shiitake flavour.

I get noodle preference, but there is definitely massive flavour here. Do you have sinus or nose issues where you lose taste/smell?

        • Yeah well Japanese ramen costs $15+ a bowl

        • If you add mayonnaise to the dry sachet mix, and mix it in with a fork before adding the noodles and hot water it makes a big difference.
I wasn't a big fan of these noodles until I added the mayonnaise.

      • For dry noodles Indomie Mi Goreng win.

The Paldo black bean noodles are really good

      • If you cant handle the spice, try:

        Paldo Gomtang

Kang Shi Fu - Braised Beef Noodle

Ibumie Penang White Curry - Its not as spicy as Nongshim but a little spicy still

MAMA Tom yum - again a little spicy but not as bad as Nongshim

        Nissin - Sesame Flavour

      • If you prepare this as a dry noodle with cheese it can be even better than indomie.

  • it sucks metro woolies don't do these prices

    • That is some BS.

Coles don't pull this crap AFAIK.

      • +1

They do. Coles Express (not the servos, but actual supermarkets) don't carry the same specials as their normal stores.

      • I've actually found more luck with Woolies Metro honouring specials than Coles Express (the supermarket). For CBD locations both have stores that don't.

Eh whatever meant to reply to OP lol

  • +3

Add all spices and 1 Spoon of peanut butter tot he boiling water. Add noodles and crack 2 eggs in. Cover the pot and boil for 4:30. Stir occasionally. You got yourself a great meal.

    • +4

Trying to make satay dish? Add coconut cream and you got a laska.

      • +2

peanut butter is a great hack, plus smokey cheese and a copola slices of smoked pork belly too oooohhh yeah

    • +3

Peanut Butter?! You monster! (secretly tries it)

  • +2

Plenty of stock at town hall woolworths

  • My favourite instant noodles, thanks OP

  • This is the big bold flavour that more Australians are embracing?

  • Collect 5x points for international products everyday rewards lol

  • For those who can't handle the spice but still want a Korean instant noodle experience, Nongshim also make a line called Neoguri Ramyun in a mild spice version. The flavour is a little more pungent because it's seafood flavour but the noodles have a much better texture than these ones.

    • If u can’t handle the spice try half the spice pack lol

      • +2

But then you only get half the flavour

  • I always buy too many they expire

  • +1

1 tbsp soy sauce and vinegar

1/2 tbsp sesame oil and fish sauce

Beat an egg and pour it through at the end while it's simmering on the stove.

flavor town, similar to a hot & sour soup

    • 1 table spoon soy sauce? That sodium hit

      • +1

It's not that bad diluted in over half a liter of broth like the noodles call for

  • +1

I wish they have the black 5pack.

  • +2

Where is the Amazon price match?!

  • As it is written in cover, it is very spicy. add one egg and stir it well and add one slice of cheddar chese on it.. it is much better!

  • i like black garlic also and kimchi

  • Any deals on kettles or pots?

  • +1

Anyone else sad Woolies stopped stocking Samyang Carbonara Hot Chicken Ramen - it use to sell for around $8 from memory and they seemed to stop stocking it about 2 months ago. Amazon sell it but for a shockingly high price of $32 for a 5 pack

    • +1

Check your local Asian grocery, sells for about the same price. I've been to a couple and they've all been in stock

    • Saw some at Coles this week.

  • Popped into Woolies Town Hall (Sydney) this morning. They had plenty of stock. My local Woolies was out of stock last night.

  • Bought today, they didn't update the price on the shelf but scanned OK.

  • Don't see anyone mentioning the hack with the kewpie and egg. Boil noodles without seasoning. Mix 1 egg, chopped garlic and kewpie mayo with some leftover water from boiling and then mix with noodles

  • +3

Lots of noodle hacks but these taste best just plain or with an egg imo

    • Just eat the seasoning straight out of the packet. Throw away the noodles and dried veggies. No better way to start the day with a bang

  • not sure if my tastbuds have changed but the batch (exp ap 2023) that I bought taste much Spicer than previous ones I bought. Just me?

  • bought these a couple of times in the past, seems nobody else in my house likes them.. I usually cook three quarters of the noodle pack and only put in half the flavouring.. crack an egg into it add water from boiled kttle then microwave it for a minute or 2. hot. but yum

    • Cooking on the stove makes it take completely different.

  • NongShim should co-list on the ASX
