  • Damn i bought one of these the other week and i got an additional angle grinder but only one battery, although that one battery was four or five amp hours… and it only cost $350

Looks like a few Dewalt kits are around 15% off when you go to their pages. Was hoping they would do something like this while TotalTools has their Dewalt bonus credit promo running. Nice

  • Why is brushless important/preferred over a non brushless drill (for general household work)?

    • +3

More power/longer battery life/you probably won't notice, especially with gear of this quality.

  • Picked up the exact kit from the Bunnings expo @ sydney showground for $399 with dewalt blower

    • Does the blower use the same battery as in this kit? Link?

      • yes the blower is compatible with the powerstack batteries. This is the link to the blower Dewalt DCV100-XE 18V

Are you serious? That’s really cheap!

  • What's the benefit of this power stack battery?

    • More power and more compact supposedly.

      • had a look at their video. they replaced the 18650 cells with cell phone like li-ion cells. better utilizing of the limited space… nothing much special though… marketing gimmick

        • Yeah i feel its been done more to reduce their costs than be a true improvement.

    • longer running time, lighter in weight and impact dc850 is really compact. Pretty much like the 12v tools with the power of the 18v tools. When you using a drill all day long your wrist gets tired.

      • +1

I don't know about longer running time. The capacity is smaller. When they say more 'power' I assume them mean more ampacity, ie being able to supply more current & thus power, but that doesn't directly equate to longer running time.

        • theres more energy density compared to using the 18650 cells. Also theres double the cycles in comparison to the usual 18650 cells.

          • @Will Mcdonald: Might be more energy density, but there's no more capacity. If there were it wouldn't be a 1.7Ah battery

  • I have a set of Ozito, but it can only handle light work.THe drill is really struggling when drill hard wood and steel.
    Compare this $599
    https://www.totaltools.com.au/183774-bosch-18v-brushless-2-p…

Bosch: pay $174 more, for a grinder, larger batteries (2*5Ah) and a 40m laser ranger from redemption
    Dewalt: has a box

    Drill : GSB 18V-85 C (85Nm, bluetooth) vs DCD805N-XJ(90Nm)
    Driver : GDX 18V-200 (200Nm) vs DCF850N-XJ(205Nm, 3-mode)

Hard to make the decision. Bro, give me some suggestions.

    • i started with ozito because they were cheap but it was a waste of money and time. They lack power and accuracy with all their tools.

    • Batteries aren't cheap these days, go the Bosch I reckon. There's more than $174 of extra value in there

      • Bosch, Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee r all decent with no troubles. Ryobi Hp series is good but on the same price point with the rest without many tools

  • Back to $499 now
