Buy rechargeables instead of single use batteries

Rechargeable won't work in everything, I recently has to buy alakalin AAA's because my rechargeable won't work in one of heater's remote.. though I respect your care and love for environment, you don't have to neg the deal just bases on that ..

      • first time i heard about this. Never knew there were limitations on rechargeables.

        • +1

Rechargeable battery chemistry is 1.2V and has a consistent voltage for most of the depth of discharge.
Alkaline chemistry is 1.5V with a slow decline in voltage across the depth of discharge.

I'm surprised a remote wouldn't work with rechargeables but it's certainly possible.

          • @coxymla: So, it's fixed remote on wall for Bonair heater Model 1E78, I would genuinely appreciate if you can help me with that .(not having go at you). …

            • @DaveD: Oh, it's a thermostat? That makes more sense as to why it would require alkaline.

If you're desperate to have it be rechargeable then you can fit one or two LiFePO4 10440 cells instead.
If you use one cell, you will need to complete the circuit with a piece of wire. Battery life will be less than a pair of alkalines though.
If you use two cells, you will need to take the adjust the battery holder to put them into parallel.

Price on aliexpress for these cells is around $23 for 4.

              • @coxymla: Yep…it is thermostat and have to change first time in like 5 years .

                • @DaveD: Hah, well if alkalines last that long in it then I would just replace like with like!

        I agree

Children's bath toys that tend to get water ingress over time - would rather not use expensive rechargables in those

    • Any good deals or recommendations? I know Ozb loves Eneloops

Thanks qvinto but who made you the Fuhrer?

  • Have anyone charged this batteries with Alkaline charger? How compare to Varta and Enegerizer batteries?

    • Am I missing something? These aren't rechargable.

      • +1

Technically you "can" recharge standard alkalines if you have the right type of charger and quality batteries

    I would avoid that option….
