Redmi Note 10 Pro camera and Sd888 in the body of the Poco F3. Not bad not bad for the price I guess

    • Seems like AMOLED is with better standard as well but not sure about it.

    • +2

      Redmi K40 Pro = Mi11i
      Redmi K40 = Poco F3

      • Actually, this is wrong. Redmi K40 Pro Plus = Mi 11i

  • Thats a nice phone for the price with 108MP camera. I tested S22 with Poco X4 camera and in many cases, the 1/3rd priced Poco won. But really slow phone. This seems to have everything better.

  • +1

I wish the battery was a bit bigger.

  • +2

This is dirt cheap for a phone today. In overseas is selling for $700+aud

  • +7

Just get rid of the garbage MIUI and put Google stock rom on it and it will fly.

      • +26

Is that why google lets you search for free?

          • +16

@Tyrx: LOL if you think google servers are not open to CIA or Pentagon. I don't know why people still pretend it's not happening even though everything is out.

Just install Xiaomi Eu Rom or any other cutom rom if that's the concern.

            • +3

@Armaghan: I have reported the 11 boxes of TOP SECRET info in my basement but the CIA are a bit slack?
Can't understand why they wouldn't be interested in my kids report cards, family photos and all the OZB discount vouchers and deals for the past 10 years… ;)

          • +11

@Tyrx: The reality is that Google, Apple and Microsoft are even more proficient at customer profiling (I am really heavily sugarcoating that) and has access to far more personal data than most people think. The reality is that we may not actually fully own our mobile devices. Apple did a remote deactivation on one of my old iPhones last year, forcing me to update to the latest iOS, otherwise it is a brick (unable to unlock to home screen).

It's not just the US companies. Our own government keep a close eye on all of us.

          • +9

@Tyrx: when america does it its cool and when china does it they are evil?

            • +2

@ninohax: that's how cold war propaganda works. country that never stopped warring = good, one that lacks war experience = bad.

              • -1

@Creamsoda: Or could it be that China actively kills it's own population and suppress the slaughter of thousands and the active genocide of Uyghurs?

America and Australia have far from a charmed history but aren't actively committing genocide of an ethnic minority.

                • +3

@Telios: Lets just say atrocity propaganda is all true and has 100% fact based evidence to back it up. why are Americans suddenly caring about the Chinese or worried about them? do you for a second think Americans really care about anyone but them selves? As a foreign country shouldn't we be more alarmed about Americans invading other foreign countries and doing the killing of millions through out history?

When Americans start caring about a countries human rights or its freedom bombs will follow. why does that represent Good?

                • +1

@Telios: You should ask native Indian & First National people if you want to know the truth.
Or you can ask Trump, it's not the guns he'll tell you.

        • -1

Yes, and also why GMail is free. The main issue is we are hooked on majority of Google services whereas the MIUI equivalent spying is far less polished and gets really annoying sometimes.

My old Xiaomi phone has some annoying bloatware and ads which are not relevant. Weird pop-ups with Chinese ads. However, my main gripe with Xiaomi ROM with MIUI is that Xiaomi can fix one bug in 1 release but introduce 2 new bugs.

          • @netsurfer: I never found them that buggy TBH

            • @John Doh: Good for you. I am not going to bother given most Xiaomi phones nowadays are no longer great value for money (price has gone up). Also, these international sellers, there is a bit of lottery on the type of phones you get. Some sell you carrier subsidised phones.

              • @netsurfer: Ya, buying kogan is dodgy, i got mine from amazon uk via au.

                • @John Doh: It's not directly from Kogan, it's a third party reseller, in this case Heybattery. You might even find them on Amazon and eBay.

A lot of companies have changed to this model as it expands their brand name. They've turned their online presence into a marketplace, just like Amazon or eBay. Even Coles and Woolies have done that.

          • +1

            @netsurfer: Miui.eu rom fixes this.

            • @Korban Dallas: From memory, certainly better, but still have minor glitches.

There were many attractive OZB deals. I already have a Snapdragon 888 phone with local warranty. Dual SIM too. Paid around the same and that was close to a year ago.

    • +1

I actually love the MIUI ive used many phones I used to have a xiaomi mi9t and loved it. I had no bloatware on it seems to be the cheaper phones they did this too but now they dont sell retail in Australia they are putting more bloatware on it to get money ells ware

    • Agree, every couple af years I try Xiaomi because I'm frustrated with Samsung.
Only to realise how good I got it with Samsung compared MIUI. I have always gifted the phone to someone after using MIUI for couple of months.

      • Could have just put a custom rom on it

  • +2

$442.99 cheaper below but don't know much about the shop …
    https://www.jackdeal.com.au/xiaomi-mi-11i-5g-8gb-256gb-dual-…

Got NFC but NO wireless charging is a deal breaker …

    • +3

Wireless charging at this price range with highest end chip ? Seems pretty unfair ask.

You can add a Wireless charging pad though.

      • -2

Lg's Nexus 4, and later xiaomi 's mi mix2s did it. I'm still stuck on my mi mix2s waiting for a new wireless charging phone worth the upgrade in the circa $500 range.

    • +3

They accept PayPal & have free shipping, I'd give them a try, can't be worse than AliExpress/Banggood.

You're not getting any genuine consumer guarantee unless it's from Amazon.

    • +1

Yeah I bought from your link, see how it goes!

      • Did you pay the $30 extra for insurance?

        • +1

No insurance, but PayPal and credit card has protection.

I should have researched the site - ozb recommend against it haha. Plenty of average reviews for it.

Will say how I go though, likely be a refurb that'll have issues, silly me

          • +1

@teereb: Ah dude, I definitely think it is a scam, on product review theres ab unch of 5 star reviews yeah, but theyre all most definitely fake because it is fresh accounts iwth only one review on them, If I were you I'd cancel my order asap lmao! There's many fake sites these days, I remmeber seeing this other site sellings gpus and im positive they were fake as well.

            • @AndrewMTG: Oh yeah, it was PayPal, so see what turns up. Can't cancel it straight away unfortunately, and AUs post has shipping details.

Like I only looked for the site review after I bought. Sleep deprived, yay haha.

              • @teereb: So how did you go ordering from Jackdeal? Any issue at all?

                • +1

@ifuggedxyz: No issues at all, been using the phone for a couple weeks now and haven't found any faults with it.

Got lucky this time I think!

                  It's a great phone.

                  • @teereb: Awesome!

                    It's a great phone.

                    And such great price too!

Did it arrive sealed in original packaging?

I am thinking of getting the Poco F4 from this mob.

                    • +1

@ifuggedxyz: Yeah was sealed, but still feel like it was a refurb. Had a different, almost vinegary smell inside packaging. Just lucky it's all working fine, so far anyway!!

                      Good luck on your purchase!

  • +1

    NFC?

    • -1

      Yup

      • +1

I don't think it has. Can't see on Xiaomi Website.

        • +1

GSM arena is also saying no

          • +1

@bakemon0: So this is not for global market?

          • @bakemon0: I think international version got it which it it.

        • Does have NFC, been using it :)

  • -3

Anyone got cheap mobile phone deals?

  • +2

Is there any waterproof android phone with wireless charging at this price level?

    • I'd like to know too!

    • +2

Um, Pixel 6A for another $250

      • +1

I don't think you'd put them in the same price class to be honest.

    • +1

      Second hand samsung note 10+

    • +1

wireless charging is too old technology to be sold as a premium nowadays. the phone companies basically just use it to force people splashing hundreds of dollars more on the phone for a convenience/luxury (which I like, btw)

  • Won't let me add to cart. Low stock then said out of stock when I try.

    Anyone else?

    • Yep sold out for me

      • Just missed out damn it, if anyone finds a similar deal let me know, was ready to buy

Shared in the comment and it's cheaper at $442. I am not sure about the site.

          • +1

@Armaghan: It's not a pretty picture when you go digging into Jackdeal on previous Ozb deals.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/622548

They basically scrapped the sale orders and didn't refund you unless you emailed them.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/631127

They're actually the old notorious Tobydeals/Tecobuy/DWI Camera/eGlobalDigital mob that re-pheonixes every year to avoid warranty/aftersales/litigation.

            https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/jack-deal

Just some 50/50 reviews that won't matter past the year when they "close shop" and a new face shows up.

            • @Synticulous: That's why i said in my comment that someone else mentioned the link and i am not sure about the site.

Also thanks, now people can get aware of the potential problems.

              • +1

@Armaghan: No worries, I quietly ordered one off DickSmith after doing my due diligence, so thanks right back at ya.

            • @Synticulous: Actually, I had no issues with tobydeals AU, they had good prices and they definitely shipped products, I received my Poco F1 shipped with toll, and it definitely did arrive! Perfect condition no issues at all, sadly they closed during covid, I don't think jackdeal is an related company and jackdeal is definitely a scam

          • @Armaghan: I ordered from Jackdeal as it's sold out at Kogan. Received my phone on 23 Aug. (Ordered on 14th). Brand new sealed.
            No issue.

        • You may still catch the last train, PM me :)

      • Guys, you might be able to buy it stil ldespite it showing out of stock, if you go on the website on this deal and then it shows out of stock right? Tried to fill in the notification form and it says error occured item is in stock, so on a computer or desktop mode, if you scroll down a bit it will show add to cart on the top, i was able to checkout successfully doing it like that :D

can you trust Xiaomi with your data?

    • +7

Can you trust google with yours? There's a reason all their stuff is free to use right?

    • +4

can you trust any tech company with your data?

    • +3

if you can trust google and apple, the you can definitely trust xiaomi

    • +2

you cannot trust any company with your data. They are here to make more and more and more money. They don't give a shit about customers. If you still don't believe that, if you own or would own a LG TV in the future when you set it up go through their T&C which you have to accept in order to use their TV and you will understand how much data even a firm like LG collects and sells to third parties.

  • +1

I want the 11s Ultra still so expensive tho

    • haha I actually want the 12s Ultra instead, the Leica lens will make me feel like owning an expensive unaffordable Leica camera

      • That's fair, 11s Ultra is bad a$$ tho and the Camera isn't a huge deal for me

  • I love my Xiaomi mi11. Even sold my s22 ultra cause the Xiaomi was better

  • I know it's sold out now, but how would warranty work with this seller?

    • +3

      Send it back and pray

  • Helped get MIL with a phone. Settled for the Redmi note 11 5g pro plus as it had expandable storage and 3.5mm headphone jack.

  • Sounds like.this is the best mid tier phone?

    • I tend to agree, I didn't even know this existed.

    • +2

With 888 chip i would class it a high end phone with upper mid tire camera.

      • +1

Wow! Game changer! Xiaomi are including tires on phones now. 😯😜 Just kidding! I know you meant tier.

Yeah, could probably be considered an entry level high end phone. It's exactly the same thing Apple, Samsung and other companies do, they introduce a series/family of phones based on the same chip, just reduce certain features to get them to a price point. Think, S22 series, iPhone 13 series, etc.

      • I'm saying mid tier based on price range. You can't get a better phone under $500. Pringle need to spend $200+ for marginally better devices

  • Average size battery. Mixed reviews on battery life.

  • Trying to decide between this, the Poco X4 Pro, and Poco F3/4. Seems like this is the best value of the bunch, or am I missing something?

    • +2

id go f4 for the ois but thats just me

      • Yeah leaning that way now, seen that the SD888 can overheat very easily in the 11i, so might wait for a sale on the F4 (or the F3 if things get desperate haha)

  • Op, where.do I find warranty info?

    • JB until recently sold the Xiaomi Shark phones, JB may be able to give you atleast that warranty info.

  • +1

    Available again.

    • Seems like it, please try and let us know.

      • I'm in need a replacement for my aging LG v30. Would jump on this if it has NFC.

        • I think there is NFC, it's present in international version.
I can confirm once i receive the device.
