eBay Refund Missing - Used My Coupon from Signing up to eBay Plus

So bought a $25 item that was listed as SATA.

Received an old school IDE version.

Seller agreed to refund me $15 (as I could get a $6 IDE/ SATA convertor and keep the product).

The $15 refund was processed. Somehow ebay concluded I get $5, and they keep $10 (coupon).

Looked in my eBay summary, no $10 coupon.

What's the go here?

I understand if it was a normal 5% promo etc, but I received the coupon for paying for Ebay plus. So there was a payment by me to receive the coupon.

I'm thinking a charge back on my credit card for pocketing my coupon?

      They NEVER refund Plus..

Op needs to chat to them, they'll probably give him a coupon code..

Try adding to cart another item with buy it now,.. then in checkout see if voucher is in voucher section,.. as since you made an original purchase with the voucher it gets tied too ones/your account,… well all my past voucher refunds (even gift cards) have all moved and is tied to my account and can't be used on any off my other accounts,..

hope you find it there 👍😁

Of course your other option is to go on chat,..

Ebay plus is a scam. They sent me to a debt collector for unpaid fees. Yet I never signed up with them. They can't provide the proof but would continue harassing me and now I have debt collectors harassing me also over it. I ain't paying shit. I used to use ebay all the time. But I refuse to now. I assume my account is blocked. But even if they unblocked It I'd still refuse.

    • did you ever sell anything on ebay? thats generally what the fees are related to is sales - each month i get a statement saying i owe 0.1cent and no payment is required as its bellow the 1 buck minimum

they wouldnt send a debt collector for ebay plus membership as that needs to be paid upfront?

Once years ago. Those fees were paid. This was specifically for ebay plus. I clicked the free trial link and nothing happened at all. So I'm like okay. Then months later the harassment started. I asked for them to send me proof of me signing up. They said they had none. I got no email saying I'm a ebay plus member or to say how much it was. I even tried negotiating with them first to sort it out. But they refused. So I gave up

Ebay system is buggy and things don't add up, before you do chargeback, call them and explain the situation. A couple of times I've had a situation where I bought items, ebay charged my card through paypal, but my ebay account did not show any purchase made. Because I used vouchers it became messy to chase up and resolve and there are a 6 parties at play, seller, their bank, your bank, paypal, ebay and yourself.

  • I think the issue here is ebay doesn't credit you on coupons used.

Here's the debit and credit - with my assumptions.

    • Item is $25 - $15 your own cash, $10 being the coupon credit
    • seller refunds you $15, the waterfall that ebay works on is coupon credit is first than your money so the $10 coupon is netted off, so the credit to you is $5.

Does that make sense? it not fair I get it but just explaining the mechanics.

IMO, probably not worth the chargeback but to each its own

Just to wrap up. I contacted Ebay chat and they issued me a replacement $15 voucher code with 30 days expiry.

  • Sorry to tag on here, but the ebay plus monthly $5 vouchers, were they supposed to be for a minimum $15 spend? It looks like it has gone up to min $50 spend, but maybe my memory is serving me incorrectly?

    • I used one today on a $15.29 spend…
