  • anyone recommending this?

I bought one in 2016 and still it’s going strong. We cooked rice almost two and half years, everyday ( we are rice eaters). Few times I made slow cooked chicken, it was good. Nonstick pot is very high quality, still no signs of deep scratches. Costco also has these with an additional stainless steel pot, but you can’t claim Philips cash back.

      I would recommend this.

      • thank you we got a ricecooker at home we are after more like a pressure cooker to do things like cooking beef stock, etc

        • +1

          Definitely worth buying.

      • Are you cooking white or brown rice? Mine always getting overcooked

    • ours gets used quite a bit…great value for money imo.

    • totally. got one in 2015 still going strong and is superb for cooking a variety of meals

How does this compare to Instant Pot?

    • Haven't used the Instant Pot but the one feature I wish this Philips had that the IP has are those metal pads on the lid. On the IP you can put damp tea towels on those metal pads and the evaporation helps the contents to cool down faster. So the internal pressure comes down faster and you can do a quicker natural release.

Dunno about this but got the 8L Instant Pot with air fryer lid during Prime Day for ~$200 and it's been amazing, both for pressure cooking and for air frying.

  • Good price! Thinking of upgrading from its little sister/brother which has been an absolute gem. Couldn’t be without a pressure cooker in the kitchen.

  • I have the older 6L capacity version and I really like it. Sometimes I wish I had the new 8L instead but really can't justify the upgrade right now with my 6L still going strong! So easy to make lentils and chickpeas in it (and rice too). My personal go-to hearty dishes to make in it are bolognese, Taiwanese spicy beef soup, pork ribs, and quick chicken stew.

I have a small brother of this and Tefal comparable 8l one. Philips is good, but I don't like the aluminium cover membrane (bad choice of materials) and the silicone ring which falls off when it is hot. Very inconvenient to open and close lid during the cooking. Another annoying feature of Philips is display 59 minutes limit on pressure cooking… Anyhow… I tried to create video comparing two… Here it is: https://youtu.be/mYbAyn-9W4I Hope it helps.
If you can live with Philips imperfections it is good pressure cooker.

Thank you for your video, very helpful in making a decision.

      • +1

You're most welcome. I'm not good at videos, but being fed up buy BS we constantly get fed by advertisers and promoters I decided to create my own channel where I tell how it is LOL. At list from my perspective :-)

$10 delivery unless you got eBay plus or click and collect.

  • If we have claimed cashback for air fryer, are we still eligible for this cashback?

    • +2

yes, I bought both and they are both approved, its one cashback per eligible item, so you can get cashback for each different item purchased.

  • Is that cashback thru any seller? as costco selling that for $250 - kinds of similar price

    • +1

no, only selected retailers, if you check the T&C in the cashback promo page, it will tell you costco is excluded from the promo.

Is an "all in one cooker" just an antivaxxer who believes in UFOs?

  • +1

It's good. Gets pretty hot actually, power output is higher than competitors. Still takes some time to build pressure presumably because it's so big.

Doesn't have manual pressure cooker functions which is a huge pain. Pot is a nice non scratch surface, looks quality, haven't had a problem with it yet. There are stainless steel pots for around $50. Lid is okay, doesn't seal well again after you cook something with the lid on without cleaning/drying it.

Also doesn't build up pressure well unless there's lots of water in the pot, presumably because the cooker is so huge

All in all would probably have gone with an instant pot if this wasn't so much cheaper and bigger

  • Hmm how hard would this be to "modify" for distilling purposes?

  • Any sous vide function like the recent costco InstantPot deal?

  • how come AFPAYDAY didn't work for me

    • +1

You need to choose the afterpay payment option first then enter the code

      • I see thanks

        • You able to use t he code?

  • Can you still use gift cards to pay down the amount?

  • Not delivering to Far North QLD

  • +1

Logged in to say thx as just browsing for a new pressure cooker, great timing.

  • Hi, Cant seem to make AFPAYDAY work even after choosing afterpay as my paymenty option.

Any one have the same issue?

    • No should work for you, I brought and paid around 3 hours ago. Did it work?

  • Have this cooker(8L), pretty huge for family of 4 or less in my view.

  • Is this a pressure cooker as the pics seem to look like it's more of an rice cooker

  • It is back in stock.

    • still generating errors while adding it to basket.

  • Hi, bought the cooker a week ago and Binglee is still looking for stocks to send out. Has anyone received a despatch notification yet? :)
