I'm thinking that the 7700X may have similar multithreaded performance and higher single threaded performance and cost less than this. Only issues are that the first new mobos and DDR5 will be expensive and will take a bit of time to mature.
The current price rumour is that the 7700X will be $480 USD, which would make it around $800 AUD. Prices won't be confirmed until the end of the month though.
This or wait till a 5800x3d sale? Primarily gaming
Exact same dilemma, found a 5800X3D for $636.65 (After Afterpay discount). Not sure if for about the $120 difference in price to go for the cheaper 5900X or the 5800X3D
Wait for the 5800x3d to get a bit cheaper when the next gen comes out. Right now it's too expensive.
Great price - totally jumped on this to extend out my AM4 platform.
Just use ebay gift cards to reduce the price down. That's what I had done. Happy to purchased it under $500.
It's pretty amazing a 12 core Ryzen got this cheap. The 3900x bottomed out at around $600, and TSMC 7nm wafers were a lot cheaper back then.
