Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how to get an optical prescription without them trying to hide it from you and sell you their own glasses?
Optometrists are all associated with either their own business or a big business like SpecSavers or OPSM.
Get an eye test done. Ask for a copy of the prescription.
You don't have to buy their glasses. Just ask the printout of your prescription.
Just ask for it they can't lawfully refuse. Make sure you get your PD too. They try to leave that out (Specsavers, with whom I'll never do business again cheap and nasty bastards).
Just ask. Both OPSM and SpecSavers gave us the script, no issue at all. You need to also ask for the PD measurement.
Your eye test is bulk billed. The government (via taxes) paid for it. Plus it's your personal information so they're obligated to share it, even if they don't want to.
Getting your PD (pupil distance) is asking for something extra but just ask. If they say no, go to the next shop and ask until you find someone who will tell you (it doesn't need an optometrist)
another way is to just get a frame and lens quote done. they have to measure your PD as part of the process. you don't have to go through with the purchase. i find it's useful to take the time to do this anyway so you can explore what lens combos are possible for your prescription.

Asking as only US/Canada available at checkout (using au.lenskart.com)…I did previously (see post on the 30/3/22). Got 2 pairs of high index progressive, both using the same frame, from the clearance range. Total cost $100 AU (ie. second pair free).
I do remember I had to pay in $US. If you're having trouble, you can phone them. I did and they were happy to help.
