    • +1

Pretty sure they are the same business

  • Can you use these on a RAID setup?

    • Any internal hard drive can be used for RAID.

  • How reliable is this model as a primary OS drive?

  • +3

So tempted to buy it. Is anyone else in the same boat and hoping something like this deal pops up again?

    • The better deal for me was the 8tb QVO for 749 with $150 steam cards

      • +3

Except the 8tb QVO gets creamed by this for sustained writes, and is an entirely incomparable product, really.

        • Except the 8tb QVO gets creamed by this for sustained writes

That's only sustained writes over 78GB in size.
99% of the people reading this will never ever do that - it's a complete none issue unless you have a very specific use case.

          • @Nom: If genuinely don't think people with an 8tb might occasionally be bursting large amounts of data to/from it, okay then.

Fact remains, it's not a comparable tier of product.

    • Yeah same boat, been waiting to get a 2.5 ssd deal for quite a while.

    • This was the best. In the market for another 4TB or bigger drive so hopefully I can get another one at a similar price.

  • Ouch, was $475 during Afterpay week on shallothead (KS Computers) eBay last week. I guess this is fine if you are against using Afterpay.

  • Ouch on price

  • I'm seeing this for 519 normal. Price dam. Looking for bargain here

  • +1

I had one of these developing bad sectors in the first 6 months and lost data. Also lots of negative experiences with this model on the Internet.

    • Are there any other models you prefer in particular?

    • Same, I have the 2TB version and I'm getting bad LBAs now. Drive is very rarely used, have only written 6TB so far in a year.
