  • What's the max size of blackout blinds this can handle?

    • Interested in this also :)

I have a couple of these, it works well!

Dont buy the rubbish with the wheel that pull the bearings!

    • Whats rubbish about it?

      • noisy, if curtain is heavy, it will skip a teeth sometimes, need to have the "perfect" tension, smaller batt. I have 2 of these type, I uninstalled them mainly due to noise + skipping teeth once in a while, pretty annoying!

    • I have been using the ones with teeth and have had no problems with them so far. Yes you need to have enough tension on the pull cord and the bracket itself has slide adjustment to set the tension. The only issue I have is it doesn't expose the battery indicator when using Home Assistant.

  • @sky-zemismart what's the measurement of the tab bit on the bracket - I have dual brackets already but the previous motor I bought to try didn't fit as the tabs were too big…

    • it comes with it's own bracket, you would replace your bracket with they bracket in the box

      • Can't do that - they are only single brackets.

  • How do these compare against the Aqara E1? I bought a heap of the Aqara's from the afterpay day deals to do all the blinds but would preferred without cords + solar as a bonus

    • What did they cost you on special?

They had bulk discount, Max was 4 at $89.99 each. Came to about $306 for 4 with Afterpay discount.

        • I have 4 blinds… but not sure I can justify 300-400 for the luxury of automating them.

          • @Kaz0551: I know what you mean. I have about 40 (alot of double rollers)! Only trying to automate the few that gets neglected so those rooms doesn't get stuffy/cold. And the Aqara was pretty price competitive against these type of electric ones.

Edit:installed my first today. Set to open/close with sunrise and sunset. See how first one goes.

the Aqara E1's were $76.50ea delivered

  • I have a blackout curtain and the tube is about 2.13m long and i'd say it's a bit heavy if compared to normal blinds. Would this motor be strong enough to roll it up?

  • Any engineers in the chat? If it takes 10 KG of a luggage scale to begin to open roller blinds would that require a motor that is 10 KG x 9.8 = 98 N?

This one says it's rated to 0.8 N but I reckon my testing methodology is all kinds of wrong.
