Same price at Computer Alliance and Scorptec. Philips must be trying to get their resellers to clear out stock.

    First released in 2020 I think. https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidemasterrace/comments/jy8btg…

Philips must be trying to get their resellers to clear out stock.

Yes my IngramMicro account manager emailed me about excess stock of these a week ago. Offering a few pallets for some pretty good prices.

      • Looks like IM really want to get rid of them, thought the stuff we're seeing now was just a promotional/MDF deal

        • +2

It's probably because I told them my Dell account manager gives better deals on ultrawides 🤣

  • usb TYPE C??

    • +4

Stated twice both horizontally & vertically:

      Signal Input
      DisplayPort x 1

      HDMI x 2

    • Can someone explain why we want USB C on a monitor? Just curious. I just assume I would connect USB devices to the computer or router.

      • +2

It's new, and in the future your laptop may not have an hdmi. Also it means sound, video and power can be transferred via one cable (e.g. If there's a hub in the monitor) and I believe it also has a higher bandwidth than at least some of the hdmi standards

      • you can do a reverse charge to the macbook. Less cable on your workstation.

I've had 34" Ultrawide Curved and non-curved side by side before at work.. I just can't use the flat ultrawide. It's kind of hard to use IMO. Eyes felt a bit strained. YMMV

    • Even a flat 13" Macbook when staying right below a 34" curved ultrawide looks weird, let alone a flat ultrawide 34"

      • Ha yeah we have this setup at work. The monitors sit high enough to fit our laptops below. I only use the laptop screen for chats though so it's not too bad.

  • +5

    Read the title as 75" ultra-wide… I BSOD'd.

    • Damnnn that's a big screen

      • +1

One day we'll have the 360 monitor, a big circle around you

        • a big circle around you

          Make a hexagon/ heptagon with some monitors…sorted

  • Is this the cheapest 34 inch monitor we can find?

    • +1

This was cheaper a few weeks back.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713232

EDIT: Just notice OP's post is a 34". BARGAIN!.

    • Well you would normally buy a QHD for gaming and 75hz is not great so I personally don't think it's cheap. You could get QHD 165hz for around $379 or even probably find a 27 inch 144-165hz for cheaper.

      • +1

Which 165hz screen at that price point please ?

        • +6

He is comparing QHD to WQHD monitor, and thinks everybody is a game junkie, so making such comments. 😂

      • If I didn't already have a decked out wfh home setup, this would be it. It's probably pretty hard to offload a bunch of dell monitors lol

    • I paid $333.88 each for 2x AOC 34" IPS 144hz back in Feb incl ebay plus discount. Hopefully we see again!

  • How is Philips computer monitor's quality? I am after one if it's good.
I've heard that their TV is just a random Chinese OEM.

    • I'm intrigued as well. I know they make very expensive medical-grade monitors. Wonder if that quality carries on into consumer-grade. Or if it's just the badge slapped on some generic kit.

    • It's not good.

    • Have 3 Philips monitors at home. Comparing them to LG and Asus. The panel is not bad. Especially they are cheaper.

I enjoyed using the 2 that I have and the other one with another family member.

If screen quality is all you are looking for then yes.

Speaker quality is not good. I don’t use it. Or I should say I cannot use it.

One of my monitor came with a built in webcam. It’s not good too.

USB hub on my 43” & 27” Philips works really well, but it sucks big time on 49”.

So you have to decide what you are after.

I got this last week and set it up today.

    First impressions:
Build quality is fine, bezels are reasonable and the back is flat so my monitor light bar sits properly. Yay!
A little wobbly when VESA mounted on my $25 monitor arm so may need to tighten the screws a bit more.
No dead pixels and IPS glow/backlight bleed isn't noticeable in a normally lit room (YMMV)
Can't get it to go to 75Hz (probably my laptop's problem) but 60hz is fine for work.
Colours and viewing angle are decent, will probably need time to get used to an ultrawide so too early to tell if the flat panel is gonna affect me.
edit: stupid lock where you can't change brightness if you enable sRGB mode. annoying but most manufacturers do this it seems. Seems to have a slight warm tint OOTB
Has speakers but I'm sure they will be awful. Didn't bother testing

Well, it's definitely a monitor- nothing really to complain about so far.

    This isn't 4K is it?

    • +5

      4k'nt

    • It's 1440p, but it's ~34% wider.

  • Tempted to use this to replace the 24" screen which i use in portrait mode next to two 27" stacked in landscape.
But i was looking for 4k but since 32-34" 4k IPS is still too expensive will consult the minister of finance

  • Is it worth another $150 for 144/165hz and curved? Are there any other problems with this monitor?

    • Not for productivity I don't reckon

  • I had this, it had pretty bad IPS glow. Not worth it IMO.
