  • What is your was price based off?

Big W says 35-40% off, but you are saying it is 50% off?

  • +1

    175g btw.

Yeah, had a mighty shock in the chip isle the other day.
    $2.20 —> $4.40 !!!

Used to be my 'go to' when all others weren't on sale.
What will i do now !?

Get Aldi chips, $1.99 and I believe the packets are bigger too!

      • ymmv, but I find they're not as nice.

      • lol they used to be even biggers.

Aldi Sprinters Crinkle Cut $1.99 for 230g. They used to be 250g.

    • +1

And the chip packets getting smaller. Shrinkflation.

      *shakes fist

Picked up the new Simply branded ones the other day thinking I'd give them a try, didn't realise it was only 120g! Regular price is listed at $4.30 too (I think I paid $3).

Chip prices have gone bonkers, I guess it's testing how much the market will tolerate. I should start my own chip brand, OzChips, and just sell them here on OzBargain.

I haven't bit (literally) at the new $2+ "half price".

Now having withdrawals at night watching TV! Weening myself off with my stash of Delites and rice crackers. Sadly, Shapes are now cheaper per gram.

@tunzafun001: That was us last night !
            Watching TV chip-less.
Then had the big chip-inflation discussion with wifey. lol

    • Same with me

    i miss Ruffles!

    • +1

      Same! These are close though….

    • Dude go to the Reject shop, kiwi brand. Only issue is there's no Ruffles BBQ which was thr goat.

  • +2

Love how it's a bloke called Paddy telling us about potatoes.

  • bbq is the only decent flavour…this is blatant discrimination!

  • $2.20 is the new 'half price' that was $1.75 for chips a month ago.

    Apparently inflation up 25%

The party bags at $3.50 haven't changed, but limited flavours.

    • Apparently inflation up 25%

Inflation is high, but potato is a special case.

funnily enough all the corn & riced based snacks have been jacked 30-50% as well
its every packet in the whole aisle which as we know is owned by a small number of companies….funny that eh?

        • +1

i thought this was odd considering the price of frozen chips hadn't increased. will have to stop buying

          • +1

@bgbrendan: yeah ive cut down snacks by at least half because of this and am buying from other places instead of the usual colesworth…eg aldi
            screw em, i say…!

  • These were 220 normally at woolies/coles when not discounted. not a deal

    • Thought $1.75 at biggest discount.

      • those day are gone…$2.20 is the new 'half price special'

  • I prefer Aldi chips and better value 230gram for 1.99

  • +2

Was not long ago that 175g Thins/Smiths/Natural Chip Co Crisps were $1.60 on special. Then they creeped up to $1.87. And now they are $2.15

Havent bought them in a while.

Also Grainwaves used to have the biggest bag for like $2. Its size went down fairly significantly, and the price up.
