  • Replacement filters at $150 a pop? Wow.

    Any recommendations for air filters that are a bit more bang for buck, for a smaller inner city apartment?

      • Which sometimes takes long to arrive, or not arrive at all (the voucher email) yes checked spam folder.
        Is that slowness still the case?

  • We recently bought the Winix 5-stage from a seller on ebay. Discount and special put it delivered at $579

    Whilst there is no app, it is super efficient (50W), quiet and a smaller unit than the samsung. I think the filters are a bit more expensive though. We are really happy with the purchase. The additional pet filter is great. You get 12 monthly replacement filters of those in the filter pack

    • I considered this but the ozone generation turned me off after I injured my throat with ozone from the Xiaomi Mi 4 Pro.

      • Fair enough. This article discusses how that all works on the Winix https://www.ausclimate.com.au/article/what-is-winix-plasmawa…

        You can turn that off if you want on the unit as well

        According to the article;

        PlasmaWave® Technology can sometimes be incorrectly mislabelled as an “Ionizer” or confused with negative ion generation technology. Winix' technology is far superior because it produces both positive and negative ions while ionizers only produce negative ions.

        Negative ion air purifiers do not eliminate air pollutants. Instead, negative ions force contaminant particles to group together so they are weighed down onto the surface of furniture and floors. Everyday activities such as walking or vacuuming can then reintroduce these contaminants by helping them become airborne once again.

        Our Winix PlasmaWave® technology effectively neutralizes/reduces the concentration of these airborne pollutants, giving you complete peace of mind. PlasmaWave also removes chemical pollutants like Methane and Carbon Monoxide. Air Ionizers can only remove particulate pollutants like dust, aerosols, pollen and dust mites.

        I believe the Xiao Mi is only a negative

        The negative ion generator in Xiaomi 4 pro can be disabled via app.

    This would be applicable for claiming the $500 rebate for small business too. So would only cost $99 or $49(with voucher). Expires 8/9

    This is great price, and the purifier itself is excellent.

    The air quality sensor actually works. It will react by turning itself on shortly after you light a match in the same room. Same cannot be said for the sensor in the other units I tested in the same way (Samsung ax40t, Arovec av-p300).

    I bought one in May this year via good guys commercial for $730, I was happy with that price.

  • Has the highest overall rating on choice. IIRC its dust-specific rating was 95% vs the next at 90% or below. Massive unit though.
