Better than laptop speakers. That's it.

I have both the V2 and V3 and they are both very good…

      • -3

Very good is a comparative measure. These are not "very good". They do the job. Barely. That's it.

        • If you say these "barely" does the job, I wonder what makes you consider something as "acceptable" and "very good"

          • @lesher: Anything other than these, personally. Particularly anything logitech, at the budget end.

There's a half dozen comments on this post already testifying to their lack of sound quality. You do you.

  • Not as great as reviews, and it's bigger in size than i expected.
I sold mine and bought Edifier G2000, which i think perform alot better

    • Seems to be quite a bit more expensive. I own the V3's and I think they are worth it at this price.

"I sold mine and bought Edifier G2000,"

I watched a youtube review awhile back on the G2000 and I think there is an issue that needs mentioning.

When using the USB connection for sound, the G2000's power supply leaks power into your USB port.
You can notice this because when your computer is off some of your nearby USB ports end up powered when the G2000 is plugged in, unplugging the G2000 USB instantly removes power from the other ports.
This issue was mentioned by others on websites such as Amazon reviews/reddit etc.
Here is one of the posts https://www.reddit.com/r/PCsupport/comments/krw7au/edifier_s…
A comment suggests it could damage your USB controller.

Edifier admitted to the fault eventually according to this comment "Bad thing is that after fighting with them about it, and talking with multiple people at their company. They finally came back and said that engineering discovered the issue and that it was faulty. They sent me a new set of speakers, but I didn’t care to have them honestly. Have them away for free. Just use them Bluetooth and you will be good."

If you use Bluetooth or AUX connections for sound you can get around this problem. Maybe Edifier fixed the issue with newer G2000's but it is worth checking for.

Here is a review mentioning the same issue from Amazon US
"Due to the price, features, and brand I was excited to receive these, even though they had a long lead time. I plugged them in, and the sound was great. The rgb is subtle and works well, and the design is pleasing. The next part is why I am giving 1 star. These speakers have their own power source to an outlet. You then use usb to pc to generate your sound. Seems normal, except the usb is back feeding power to my pc, even when it is shut down. I am now trouble shooting my pc to ensure it did not cause any damage, but this can be critical to a system if not noticed. It is also hopefully a dud, and not a flaw in the design. I am awaiting answers from Edifier and will update once I have answers.

Update to issue above: Reached out to Edifier and they confirmed that the speakers should not be back feeding power to the pc. They stated I should do a replacement order, which I did. All well, except the new speakers have the same issue. At this point I am either very unlucky, or there is a quality issue with their current manufacturing process."

      • Thanks for sharing, I plugged mine into docking station, should be fine for my laptop then

  • not sure if it's my computer, but I keep having Bluetooth dropouts with these speakers

Try it with your phone for a bit to test.

  • I have a pair. They are great so long as you don't expect anything magical. Cheap and small size and decent aesthetics.

Surprisingly they compared favourably to some audioengines I compared them with. However, they are very poor when compared to my integrated amp and floorstanders, which shouldn't be a surprise. The thing is, you get used to the drop in quality and once you do, they aren't too bad.

The perfect PC speaker for … movies and even gaming!

    Debatable

  • Tired these but while they were louder than my MBP's speakers, the sound quality is severely lacking despite all the reviews. Ended up splurging and getting some Audioengine A2+.

  • Thank you for the post - my old basic Logitech kick the bucket this week and I wanted a replacement without subwoofer.

These are not LS3/5A speakers let alone comparable to others mentioned here which are twice to ten times more expensive.

They are a simple, basic upgrade for the built in desktop or laptop speaker with the added versatility of connecting your Bluetooth or aux device.

Just keep in mind they are much larger than you think. Which might be a problem if you don't have much desk space.
