  • Can this do multiple computers on this screen side by side (e.g work laptop and home computer).

Is it possible to control them both with that 1 mouse and keyboard by moving my cursor to edge of each frame?

      no

I found the easiest and reliable way is using remote desktop.

I open the work laptop via remote desktop, and put it in the Desktop2. Then set the mouse middle-button(left or right) to switch between desktop1 and desktop2.

      • Ahh thats smart, use virtual desktops for RD.

        • +1

As with bingohah - I have Dell UltraSharp 43 4K USB-C Monitor - U4320Q & do exactly this. Instead of running 4 cables, just the 1 USB-C to main PC and have another computer and 2 laptops that I remote into as needed.

Can this do multiple computers on this screen side by side (e.g work laptop and home computer).

Yes it via Dell Display Manager (see the Key features of "Dell S3422DWG Monitor" section here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000186818/dell-s342…). Dell video on their Display Manager software: https://youtu.be/cqSQO92wCXA. Around 4:22 it covers moving between the devices.

Disclaimer: I've never used the software.

      • Brilliant, yeah that's what I was looking for. Thank you

        • I have an U2720Q, which supports that DDM, but not picture-by-picture, nor KVM.
DDM is only for controlling brightness, changing video input source,… - whatever can be done using the hardware buttons. The only good application of that is auto brightness controlled by my macbook.

        • You'll need PbP to have one side of the screen from source 1, the other side from source 2.
KVM is needed for using one set of keyboard/mouse for two PCs. I've never tried KVM feature from a Dell monitor though.

Bought this monitor recently and it's amazing. I will say that if you have a Mac (or even a PC for that matter) make sure you use USB-C -> Displayport instead of HDMI. It enabled my Mac to use Adaptive refresh rates and also unlocked RGB. Much better colour over YCbCr and the adaptive refresh rate is great.

Can't recommend this monitor enough for both gaming and office work.

    • +1

From the tech specs: DisplayPort: 144 Hz, HDMI: 100 Hz

      • +4

Exactly, so you get higher refresh rates too. But importantly you only get access to Freesync on a Mac over Displayport.

    • But thats only possible with Mac or PC. What to do if I want to use it with PS5? HDMI => DP?

      • +1

HDMI will only get 100hz on this monitor. If you want higher then you can get 144hz off DP.

    • Did you have to buy DisplayPort to USB cable for your Mac? Or is that included?

      • +1

Only comes with HDMIxHDMI and DPxDP cables. You have to buy DPxUSBC.

      • I bought the cable Creation adapter off Amazon for $20

        • Does that charge too? I am after a dock to connect to my work laptop T41 to this monitor that can charge too.
I bought this one but I have to disconnect it often to charge the laptop.

    • Mr Jason Bourne. Thank you for the tip! Seeking some technical advice if that's possible: My partner's Macbook Pro is pre-USB-C. It has a mini DisplayPort so would that unlock RGB as well if we connect a cable from this to the displayport? The current colour is washed out and fuzzy using mini DisplayPort to HDMI connection. Thanks in advance!

  • Does it still have flickering issue with g-sync below 60fps

    • +1

I haven't been able to enable gsync with either a 980 ti or a 3060 ti on this monitor

  • +7

    Thanks prison Mike

    BANG!!! Purchased. Thank you!

names like "AMD FreeSync™ Premium Technology" scary me. It looks like subscription based feature

  • Sold mine as the text is not good on mac. Got some 4k dell with usbc instead

  • Any recommendations on a 1500r or a 1000r curved monitor, same size?

  • I'm very happy with my two Dell's… Stacked… Use it more for productivity than gaming but these do everything I need & more…

  • +5

Just wanted to say thanks to OP. Was in the market for an ultra wide for my academic work. Was just about to buy one, then husband passes by looking over my shoulder, then proceeded to remind me about marriage being a 50/50 thing blah blah blah lol…so ended up ordering two, with academic discount it brought the price down to about $500 each.

  • Does the usb-c also charges your Mac?

    • My Mac? Nah, not my Mac

  • +1

Got drawn in by this deal and then saw all the Mac issues reported. Jumped on Dell and found this - https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/f90j
Hopefully, helps others in the same boat as me (Mac M1).

    • +1

So this one doesn't have the 1440p problem that the one from OP's has?
I'm always wonder why the gaming version of this monitor is cheaper than the non-gaming one :-(
In office we have a non-gaming, S3422 (non-gaming), and I couldn't see any issue with office's Intel Mac Pro 2020.
      Thanks.

  • Anyone know how long Dell take to process orders? I ordered a refurb model of this monitor 2 days ago and still waiting for it to ship.

    • +1

Haha. Dude, I ordered my Dell monitor pre June 30, got delivered last week. They are slow.

      • Oh no :-(

        • +3

But it depends if they have in stock. If refurb model, it should be quicker. For mine, they only started manufacturing in Malaysia after I placed the order.. hence the delay

  • Tanks

    • Please no tanks, I prefer peace!

  • Purchased, nice one OP.

  • -4

Is this Good for gaming my little tits off?

  • +2

Cannot resist, bought one - already bought 5 dell monitors this year alone.

    Ozbargain will bankrupt me😭

    • I bought one for gaming 1440x2560 165 hz 32 inch and it's OK.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one yesterday.

  • +1

Got one last month during a similar sale. Very happy with it.

  • This is a VA panel, so viewing angles are limited. Is this not an important factor when considering ultrawide, curved screens, or not an issue?

    • You can notice some washout if you move your head across to the side but if you're in the middle you don't notice it. If you have a look at the review of this on rtings.com they have video with the monitor rotating, you can compare to others. This one is much better than a cheap IPS the same size I had before it.

  • My pc has hdmi port. If i use hdmi to DP cable, can i achieve 144Hz refresh rate , or still restricted to 100?

    • +1

      I believe that's a no.

      • So there is no way to achieve 144hz using my pc, is there?

  • I'm bucking the tread to wait for the latest tech - new rtx3080 coming next week so this seems like an almost perfect match. Thanks, I think.

    • is it! would g-sync work? flickering below 60fps?

      • What does not work because 60fps is unachievable I will turn FreeSync/G Sync off.

  • is the extended service warranty worth it?

    • I got it when I bought my two monitors as I had read that Dell's warranty service was very good…

Fortunately I have not had to use it as yet…

      • +1

My experience will Dell support on a monitor was top notch. They replaced a monitor after 2.5 years for a single dead pixel. Although, this is going back 10 years and I didn't buy any extended warranty

  • +2

Just a heads up the VA panel on this is kinda old and black smearing is very noticable
Kinda sucks after coming from tn
if you're a big gamer I would definitely consider something else
Also I haven't been able to enable gsync on this monitor with two different gpus
Other than those issues it's been a good monitor for me

    • i actually just got gsync working on the monitor with a 3060 ti
it might have been a driver issue preventing me enabling it a couple months ago when i got the monitor
cant speak for the performance of it yet though but seems like there's a lot of issues online hehe

  • How good is this for a WFH set up.

I will connect a windows laptop mostly and at times a Macbook Air.

I've always used dual monitors. If I wanted to extend 2 apps
    - a browser tab and a doc on to this single screen, Does this do like a split screen or as both side by side?

    • this resolution works great for 2 apps. e.g. browser and word doc. fits 2 apps comfortably side by side.

I'm planning on using it as a WFH display with my macbook pro, then as a gaming display for my gaming windows pc (when not WFH ofc ;) )

There has been some discussion in the comments about it not working well on mac. I have a dell with the same resolution I use at work with a macbook pro for years and i've never had any issues. im going to try my luck with this one and a macbook pro, dell support are usually pretty good so im thinking worst case they'll let me swap it with another dell monitor if i flag issues with a mac within 30 days of delivery (but do this at your own risk).

S3422DWC (USB-C monitor) is also on sale.. even bigger sale 50% off
I believe it should suit better for work / productivity, while S3422DWG is more gaming/media oriented (as it has higher refresh rate and HDR).

    S3422DWC is 20 days wait though….

    • any reasons why the S3422DWC would be better suited for work / productivity over the S3422DWG rather then the same and ~$60 more expensive? Besides the USB-C port that an adapter/cable would solve

S3422DWG goes brighter (who doesn't want a blindingly bright spreadsheet?) plus the other features like better refresh rate and latency

I'd add that the S3422DWG would likely hold a higher re-sale value because of the refresh rate

      • KVM switch is handy for multiple devices, and DWC can charge up to 65W. I believe DWG cannot charge?

I personally have usb c laptop (surface laptop 4) so with DWC I can just plug in to usb c on DWC.
I am not sure how it will work with DWG Display Port.

You said one will need to buy an adapter for it? Will it guarantee to work, any potential issues etc?

    • i just bought this for my father in law for his home office setup. was initially going with the DWG but decided this is a better productivity piece as I'm also getting him a surface laptop 4. The direct usb- c connectivity would be great so i can do away with the surface dock, saving both money and space. I've been googling the KVM feature of this monitor but can't seem to find much - How do i connect a wireless keyboard and mouse with a standard usb-a dongle to the monitor?

Wow! Ordered on the 3rd and shipped on the 5th. When it rains it pours.

  • Dumb question but should I get this or the Dell G3223D

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-32-usb-c-gaming-monitor…

    • +1

If you will use it more for gaming get the Dell S3422DWG…

  • Anyone who got this monitor what settings are you using to calibrate?

I tried using the instructions in this thread but I’m finding the display much too warm. I’ve tried playing around a little with the RGB values to get them to a satisfactory level but I’m not having much luck.

    • you can visit https://dell.com/S3422DWG - drivers/colour profile installed ok on windows 11 and colour looks fine after a restart and night mode off, but maybe that's just me

previously i was using samsung and benq monitors and they all have their different colours

don't know if it will help .. keep us posted if you find anything out - maybe speak will dell support?

  • Hey OzBargainers.
    Hope you can help urgently.
I need to buy a video card tomorrow (Sunday) so I can get use of this monitor I just received.

Unfortunately my current video card won't work on the monitor.
    My current specs are -

    Monitor - Dell S3422 DWG
    Motherboard - Gigabyte B360M D3H-CF
    CPU - Intel Core i7-8700 – 3.2 Ghz

I need recommendations for a card that will run this monitor on my existing Motherboard.
Decent bang for bucks of course.

    Thanks in advance.

    • My knowledge isn't great but I can tell you I'm running a Geforce RTX3070… I have 2 x Dell S3422DWG's stacked & runs it effortlessly…

  • What are the options to be able to charge and project whilst connected to this monitor via the laptops USB-C please?

I am using windows T41 laptop(hdmi) to Dell S3422DWG(hdmi) but doesnt gige the full resolution/refresh rate. Moreover its too many cables.
