Haha thanks for the reminder, didn't buy any beer, but was targeted with this voucher and picked up a Chromecast TV for $58 delivered.

  • "Coupon code is invalid"

    • If you are targeted

    • It worked when I checkout as a guest with a different email address yesterday.

      • Tried & failed.

Same here - "Coupon code is invalid"

  • Invalid :(

CUB.. the biggest C un in the NT in the liquor industry. The amount of dodgy shit they get away and how they rort independant business while them and woolies have their hands in each other pockets. Avoid all their products. Their company is a piece of shit. Their call centre is a piece of shit. Their reps are pieces of shit. Their delivery drivers are pieces of shit. Their products are pieces of shit. AVOID!

Fall on the good side of the targeted algorithm!

  • There is also special on Furphy in Dan Murray with case selling for $39.55 for member. https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_878604/furphy-origi…

Also some new light tasting beer called Cracka Yak for $9.90 for 6 pack.

    • -1

      Showing $50.35 in QLD ?

    • Cheers. Cracka Yak is $10 @ BWS - then 20% cashback (one of them CR maybe, cant remember).

    • +2

I've had the cracka yak and it's horrendous

      • +2

Unsurprising, everything by Fat Yak went to shit after CUB hoovered them up.

      • Is it another Great Northern, Iron Jack, Furphy super crisp etc etc clone?

Might have just saved me $10

        • +1

No. Much worse. It's all malt and no hops. Just tastes strange and flat

  • I just bought the Aldi knock off of this instead…. $29.99 (Storm brewing in the silver box) until Wed

  • Bought before @$48.30/ctn (after cashback) from MyDeal.

Tried ordering Asahi Super Dry soon after earlier Deal posted. Unfortunately not Targetted😥

    Middle finger coupon invalid

  • Picked up some recently…"Brewed in Victoria, Australia by Carlton United Breweries". Tasted just like the fully imported version. Favourite too.

    New advertising campaign starting today.

    https://cub.com.au/asahi-super-dry-launches-biggest-global-m…

    • Bought last week - brewed in Japan (printed on cans).

Bottles brewed for years by CUB (owned by Asahi) in Vic. Not a great taste.

Comment last year the 500ml cans are locally produced - not found by others.

Nearly a year later - haven't seen any. All my cans were sent by CUB from Vic.

Another comment - Australian brewed only appeared on carton, cans showed produced in Japan.

Asahi Super Dry recipe changed for first time this year.
Likely a reason for the new campaign.

    • You also common in the CBD to be served Asahi with labels printed "brewed in China", doesn't taste bad but definitely not the same or as good as the Japanese brew. I don't recall trying the Brewed in Victoria.

      • +1

Asahi Super Dry Bottles have been brewed here for years. Try at any bottleshop.

Would be surprised the Chinese brewed bottles are still imported. Taste used to be complained about on OzBargain.

I wouldn't bother with either - 500ml can imported from Japan is far superior.

        • meh - I've drunk it in Japan - not my cup of tea - just too clean and basically tasteless

I like a bit of bitter in my beer, and this ain't it

I picked up another OzBargain yesterday - German Erdinger Weissbier from Aldi - thank you very much

          • @Hangryuman: Seems you wandered into the wrong beer Deal then.

Why look at Deals for things you'd absolutely never want to buy??
Are you just another Aldi fan telling people it's better there?

Not everyone wants to or can buy beer at Aldi! (I can't, so ignore Aldi alcohol Deals.) Free delivery in this Deal is an advantage.

My comparison was simply between bottled Asahi available here & the better tasting 500ml cans brewed in Japan.

Not that Asahi is the best beer. It's not even my favourite. But has a special (coldest) place in my fridge as the temperature rises. (Only buy when at a more reasonable price in Deals like this.)

As you discussed personal preferences… I prefer great Black beers over White. Drunk a few good wheat beers in Germany & Belgium. Not a fan of "citrus, spicy banana and clove flavours" in your beer.

For me, Asahi Super Dry is a nice reminder of many stays in Japan, drinking this & other beers. My usual drink after a day soaking in Onsens there.

By the way, the Asahi Super Dry recipe changed earlier this year. Might not be the same as you remember. But I think you'd still buy the Aldi😉

            Enjoy🍺

Thanks, didn’t know that I was targeted, surprisingly code worked for me.

  • Cracking price. Gave the code a try and it worked. Thanks OP!

    • You're welcome. I thought so. Apparently not many were targeted

  • Some seem to come from China and some from Japan, reading the description I see this lot comes from Japan, so decent deal at this price.

  • Thanks OP! coupon worked for me. The Asahi cans are easy better than bottles

  • Before asahi took over CUB, asahi was brewing the bottles in China.
Once asahi bought cub, they moved bottling back to australia
Beginning of this year there was a crossover of Chinese and Aussie asahi in stores.
Doesn't matter though because the Japanese brewed cans are soooo much better.

    • one of my favourite beers was called Four something in Beijing - great with char-grilled Mongolian shashlik - where I learned that in 1903 Germans set up a German-style brewery in coastal Qingdao - which explained why the local cheap beer in Beijing tasted pretty good to me - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsingtao_Brewery

that was in 1991 - since then the quality of Chinese beer I've tasted has gone the usual way - down the toilet for export

  • Thanks! I got one for dad too! Didn't know I've got this code!
