What makes this set special? My 12yo collects Pokémon cards. I'm trying to decide if I should order it for Christmas.

It contains 3 Alternate Art Charizards (special artworks) a playmat, a bunch of boosters and an awesome box to store his stuff in. Would be perfect if he likes charizard.
These will probably be very hard to purchase if you dont get it here. Would also reccomend a few magnetic protector cases so he can store the cards and keep them in good shape.
Not really for a 12 year old though, maybe a 32 or 42 year old. Its mainly a collectors item, rather than something that you play with.

Hit him with the truth bomb. Plus that show was announced for Amazon for more than a year now. Was surprised he didn’t post anything about it then.
Unconvinced on this one as investment. Created purely as a collector item and not really associated with memories and nostalgia. I'd rather buy a box of unopened whatever edition packs of cards and stow it.
Looking at Ebay it is pretty popular with the Brodens.
Already selling over 300 USD on ebay and sells out instantly at retail I think it's a pretty safe bet invrstment wise.
OK maybe as a flip to other so called investors. But are they sold listings or listed listings.
There's sold listings I can find at $279 USD others are now set for $300 buy now from what I could see without going through every one, even at so called retail stores here in AU are selling it for $299 pre order at the moment. I can't beleive JB hat it for $249 so I bought 2. I dunno based on the youtube videos and things I've read as well as the overall hype I think it will make a good investment short or long term.

Once that dies down this won't actually hold an nostalgia like the OG cards do, so I doubt it will appreciate much in the long term. As a 32 year old who hasn't bought a Pokemon card since I was 12 or something the "Charizard VMAX" & "Charizard VSTAR" does nothing for me, give me a good old 120hp Charizard from the 90s and I'd be stoked lol.
Yes if you want to broden and just buy to flip for a profit while the hype is high you could probably make a few dollars.
Most selling around 330, minus 14% for Ebay, minus 15odd for post. Hardly worth the time

True but it has not been released yet this just pre order and we're talking USD where this set is retail for $119 over there, I'd say definitely worth it for a quick $150 profit (again USD) or hold long term for more, Who knows.
