[Switch] Metroid Prime 4: Beyond & Pokémon Legends: Z-A: Switch 2 $140, Switch $108 (Vouchers & Gift Card) @ Nintendo (NSO Req.)

320

Using a combination of Switch game vouchers and the Coles promotion of 20% off eShop gift cards you can get Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A for $70 each on Switch 2 (RRP $109.95 each) and $54 each on Switch 1 (RRP 89.95 each).
Note that you need to be a Switch Online member to use the method below, but you can become a member for $5.95, so add that cost to the prices here if that's your situation.

The way it works is this:

  1. Buy at least $175 worth of Nintendo eShop cards from Coles at 20% off ($140) for the Switch 2 versions, or at least $135 of eShop cards for the Switch 1 versions ($108), during the promotional period of 17/9/25-23/9/24.

  2. Using your eShop balance, purchase Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers for $134.95 of eShop credit here or from your Switch: https://ec.nintendo.com/AU/en/pretickets/70020000000141

  3. If buying the Switch 1 versions, use the game vouchers to buy Metroid and Pokemon* and you now have the games for an out of pocket spend of $54 each.
If buying the Switch 2 versions you also need to purchase the Switch 2 upgrade packs for $20 each for each game**, using the remaining eShop credit you purchased earlier, effectively giving you each game for $70 each.

*You can also use this method to buy other first party Nintendo games of your choice for the same price; a full list of applicable games is available here: https://ec.nintendo.com/AU/en/pretickets/70020000000141

**Note that if you prefer not to pay the upgrade fee you can still play the Switch 1 versions on your Switch 2 for the cheaper price, you will just miss the resolution, frame rate and controller upgrades for the new hardware, but the games are effectively the same in other respects.

    • Thanks mate.

    • I am a bit scared of them banning me for abusing those vouchers similar to some people's experiences with JB-Hi-Fi 🥲

        How is it abuse?

      • Can confirmed I’ve been banned 🥲. It’s still possible to buy from JB just slightly more of a hassle.

Great for people who want physical instead.

First you need to find those 20% eshop cards at your local Coles store to proceed the rest of your plan, I suggest you save your brain cells until you actually see those cards.

    • +1

You havent hidden them at your local store yet? What a noob…..

      • Is it really that hard to get your hands on them when it’s 20% off ?

  • Would do this but am not sure i'm gonna like prime 4 never been into fps really, but might pick up a physical copy just to try it out and return/sell if needed

  • I'm starting to lose hope that the Mario Galaxy games will be included in this voucher thing. It was the first thing I thought when I saw the price. Other than Mario Galaxy there isn't too much of interest to me in the catalogue.

Needing a PAID NSO sub should probs be in the title though, for the poor chaps who don't read the whole thing.

    • You can get 1 month of Switch online for $5.95, so effectively $3 more per game if you don’t have it already.

  • -2

oh boy, only $75 for nintendo games as long as i have the $60 annual membership as well

    • Where are you getting $75 from? $75 is closer to the price WITH buying the membership as well, which is an additional $5.95 if you don't have Switch Online already.
Can you find a cheaper price for these games digitally?

Why’s this on the home page with only 8 upvotes?

Buying some Coles gift cards then spending them in the eShop for game vouchers doesn't seem like lot of hoops to me? And not sure what makes you think these will be mediocre; they haven't even been released yet and first party Nintendo games are consistently excellent.

and getting NSO? and the cost of NSO? surely you’ve played other first party nintendo games to know that pokémon is not a real first party nintendo game?

        • NSO is $5.95 if you don't have it already; even with that addition this is still the cheapest price for these games.

Japanese NSO accounts are cheaper, and the games still come with English.

Make a Japanese account, add it to a family or just buy a NSO code ($25 for the base sub) and buy 10,000 yen worth of eshop giftcards from Amazon JP ($100~ AUD). The vouchers cost 9,900 and things like DLC and upgrade packs are usually a bit cheaper on the Japanese eShop too. For example, DK Bananza DLC is 2,000 yen ($20) but on the Aus eShop it's $30. It even works with my friends physical AUS DK cart.

2 games for $100 without having to spend more than that and you can do it whenever. Worst case is $125 for a year of NSO + 2 games and access to cheaper DLC/upgrade packs.

  • Lord! The wait 4 Metroid prime is beyond me.

I was what my boss called ‘spring chicken’ when I engaged with corruption, and it has been echoes since then.

what in the JV is this

Eb games has a trade deal where you pay an additional $29 to obtain the switch 1 version of Metroid prime 4 (or $49 for switch 2 version)

If you play your trade right - you could get two games from Jbhifi for $30 (2 games deal), trade them in + $29 (or $49) (Total $59 sw1, total $79 sw2)

  • +1

Im actually surprised/sad the prime 4 version is much more expensive on the switch 2. Should be the same price imo….

    • Be nice if they followed Xbox's pricing model instead of Playstation's but it is what it is. It's very strange that some Switch games include the same resolution and frame rate upgrades for free though, while others require a paid upgrade; very confusing for the average consumer.

  • Oh that's pretty clever using the discounted vouchers and then paying for the upgrade. Not sure what to purchase with the 2nd voucher though, only interested in Pokemon.

  • easier and cheaper to buy from marketplace
