Barry Zunneberg knows it's going to be a good TV, although he hasn't set it up yet. Could Barry be a descendant of Nostradamus?

      • ps…Barry from the Amazon reviews

60hz no hdmi 2.1 and still $995 …. not sure this is much of a deal … have a funny feeling this was a bit cheaper recently as well

      Bit harsh.

“seems ok”, OP if you don’t mind to give us a mini review based on your experience with this TV?

    Old model?

Philips website says the suggested retail price is $1,395.00 and: "Unfortunately this product is no longer available."

Another one of those TVs that supports all the HDR formats, yet has no local dimming.

    • -1

      Micro dimming pro

      • That's not actual local dimming hardware, just contrast ratio augmentation.

Its a real shame philips cooked their rollout in australia by partnering with harvey norman and spending next to nothing on marketing.

Their ambilight product is actually really good, im surprised no other company have bought the patent off then.

As for the tvs, the oled is good, and the android operating system is all you could ask.
A pity their pricing isnt as sharp. Theyre acting like a mid to higher end when really its mid to lower end

      They still living in 90s

Do not bother if it's a VA panel.

    • +1

      VA is better for TV's.

      • -2

No. It's a subjective thing and VA panels often have poor viewing angles and makes the image washed out on low end LCDs. Hard pass.

        • +3

It's not. Contrast ratio and black uniformity > viewing angles. No one is sitting a meter away from their TV.

        • And LG IPS you will say blooming what do you want?

  • The hisense u7g/8/9 were going for $970

    Overall definitely great values

How can I return it to Amazon if I'm not happy with the TV? Bring it to Auspost or they'll arrange a courier to pick it up?

    • Did you buy it?

    • +1

      That's a very good question …

    • Also what about warranty returns?

  • Anything with Android OS TV in my experience has a very sliw startup especially when doing a cold restart.

Better get a tv with webOS or Tizen OS.

    • My 4 yr old Sony is fine. Only an issue if you put full power saving on. Apps are much better for android. That said, would only go for full Google TV now.

  • I have this at 75 inch and its pretty decent.
The best future is the ambilight it is really really good feature.
I moved from TCL C8 to this and the Android is much smoother on the Philips and you don't have to wait 2 min on startup as i did on the TCL.
Picture is decent, you can't expect oled like quality but blacks are not bad and viewing angles are pretty decent.
I, personally am happy with my purchase i paid $1600 for the 75 inch with 1 year warranty and additional 4 years warranty from HN included in the price so i have total of 5 years warranty for piece of mind.
