Low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia X will add two services between Australia and Thailand, with launch fares starting from $299.
Australians will be able to fly direct to Bangkok from Melbourne and Sydney as of December 1 and 2, respectively.
The Bangkok-Sydney route will fly four times weekly, departing on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, while the Bangkok-Melbourne (Tullamarine) service will operate three times per week on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Oh nice, that's really strange, doesn't Air Asia fly from Avalon to KL? Or did they move back to Tullamarine. Seems odd they'd maintain support services in both airports
There are several different affiliated subsidiaries in the AirAsia Group. AirAsia X is not exactly synonymous with AirAsia, nor with Thai AirAsia or Thai AirAsia X.
In any event, AirAsia X will be resuming services from Tullamarine, not Avalon, in November.

Air Asia X will be returning to Australia later this year, but Avalon Airport will miss out on flights.
The Malaysian budget airline will be offering flights again from November but have jumped ship to Tullamarine, for the first time in four years.
How much more for check-in luggage? I presume this is extra.
