Don’t know how to feel. Reviews stating rj45 capped at 100/10 not the stated 1gb down.

Photo from a review showing a sticker at the back of the packaging box (10/100 Ethernet).

But, not ruling out it is an older model. Macbook Pro 2016, 2017 only supports DP 1.2, and the way the 4K is stated on the box, it doesn't state 60Hz.

      • OK so not quite Gigabit

I have seen this with one HP Z grade 4K monitor posted a week ago, that had a built in USB-C hub. you had a choice of either 60hz 4k but USB 2.0 and 100mbps ethernet, or those two bumped up to USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, but 30hz 4K refresh rate only.

Probably bandwidth limitation or a hub chipset limitation. Probably using the slower kind of USB 3 standard

        • Most newer USB-C monitors can switch between both modes (to achieve higher compatibility). Changing the mode requires going through the menu in the monitor. However, these hubs/dongles cannot.

just got it in my hand, confirmed it has Giga ethernet, and I am waiting for my phone to be charged to test 4k 60hz.

      • Send speed test pic pls

The photo I posted (from a review) does appear to be a photo of a different model sold by the seller. Amazon like to combine feedback of different products. Perhaps OP/Rep can clarify.

I have been looking for something like this but with dual HDMI out. However, most of dual HDMI version cost almost double to the single HDMI version. Do you know why? Thanks

    • I'm thinking it's a power issue? I've got a similar one that has 2x HDMI but it's not working with my new laptop, I think because the power drain of the laptop is greater. Not sure though

    • It requires support for USB-C MST. However, due to Apple not supporting that (Apple uses Thunderbolt with daisy chain), and you do need a Windows laptop that supports that (because Windows laptops / desktops with Thunderbolt most likely won't support MST either) so there is less demand on that type of dongles. With a smaller market, it is harder to run a promotion on those. You'll need to wait for clearance sales.

There is also a higher risk of selling those dongles because there will be customers unaware of MST support is required on the laptop / desktop. The dongle is only half of the requirements.

  • I'm also shopping around for a USB-C travel hub which has 2 HDMI slots so I can run my surface pro 7 with 2 external monitors, is that possible? If so, which hub do you recommend??

Is this compatible with the "Chromecast with Google TV" for adding USB ports? I suspect not.

    • I'd also be interested in this answer.
