    • Preowned?

ah didn't see that, my bad.

  • I had the Fast Slow Pro and went to the InstantPot. I found the lid sitting up on the side, whilst sautéing, annoying and I had an issue with the pressure Cooker not sealing properly.

My suggestion is people read the manuals for the Fast Slow Go, and InstantPot, and look at both options. There are, certainly advantages to both. The programmable steam release is a good option for the Fast Slow Go.

    • Any tips on getting smells out of the fast slow pro? I clean the seals and everything, but it's always got a bit of a 'meaty' musk to it.

Yeah, that is another reason I went to the InstantPot. Try running the seals through the dishwasher. You could, also, look at a pressure cook clean with a vinegar or half a lemon skin. Google a few option on the web.

        • Is the Instapot better in that regard?

My only other annoyance is the pin doesn't really line up perfectly with the hole on the lid. Makes me a little nervous some times and I've stuffed up 1 or 2 cooks because of leaking pressure.

          • @Oldmate88: The InstantPot pot is stainless steel which seems to stop the smell being trapped so badly. The seals can still be whiffy but I don’t seem to notice as much with the InstantPot.

Part of the reason I gave the “Pro” to my brother is because I couldn’t rely on it sealing properly.

If I was going to get the one the OP highlighted I would try to get it through something like Costco so I can return it if I saw similar problems.

            • @try2bhelpful: I have the Pro also and out of curiousity I had at a look at the Go. It appears to have a stainless steel pot. It can be purchased separately but I can't tell if it will also fit the Pro (it is not listed as an accessory for the Pro).
Maybe it is just lick but I haven't had problems sealing ever since I started paying attention to ensuring the locking pin is aligned with the hole.
I also have trouble with lingering odours, although I am not sure how much it affects the food. In an attempt to reduce the smell I leave the lid ajar by rotating the lid (as if to lock) before lowering but who knows if it helps or not.

              • @bargainpersona: You could try not reattaching the lid when you wash it and storing it separately. Give it a bit of an air. The ceramic lining on the Pro was a reason I wanted the stainless steel bowl InstantPot, I was worried about the lining chipping and the lingering smell was a problem.

I thought I had the locking pin aligned but the sealing was a tad hit and miss. Frustratingly it would steam away, for a while, then tell you it hadn’t sealed properly.

I think the programming is better on the Pro but the InstantPot suits me better.

If the Pro had a detachable lid, stainless steel bowl, and reliable seal I, probably, would pick that.
