    They did Danny dirty!!

Ricciardo is my favourite driver on the grid, he's underperformed though for the last season and a half, which is a long time in Formula 1.

Hopefully he can still get a ride for next year, but if not I could see him featuring as sideline commentator or some tv role.

Friendship with Danny Ric has ended. Now Piasti is my best friend. (sadface)

He's like a slightly better version of Latifi.

      • I'd be really happy to be proven wrong given we're all fans of his, but it's looking highly unlikely he'll find a seat anywhere in the midfield (Alpine). He'll be 34 next season so there's no shame in calling time on his career at that point.

At least he got that magical win in Monza and we'll still have an Aussie to support in Piastri. Sigh

Can't keep a p17 driver on the grid forever just because he smiles and swears in australian

      • +20

They didn't do him dirty by letting him go. They did him dirty by lack of transparency and respect through the process.

        • +2

I mean, it was kind of all over the news since about late April. There would have been plenty of discussions and they're letting him race until the end of the season and are probably going to give him a payout of more money than you or I will earn in a lifetime, so I'm pretty excited to see what Piastri can do in the McLaren next year.

@King Steuart: it was all over the news but signing a contract behind your drivers back doesn't look good, and it doesn't help that the driver says he's 100% commited to the team days after the driver is signed. Had Daniel known, he would have (probably) been possible to secure a seat for 2023. Its such a sh*tshow tbh

Pretty much. Old mate did himself dirty but no one wants to hear that.

    • $25m a year (rumoured) is a lot for an underperforming driver. They didn't do anything dirty.

If you activate the 7x points offer in the everyday rewards app, you get 1183 points (around $5.90) which means you can get it for around $163. Also 0.8% off at Cashrewards, can't be bothered working out how much the cashback is for that.

  • Purchased, wonder if they'll honour it.

  • +12

Will they pay me $20m to not buy it I wonder?

    • minus $30

  • +13

Zak will need one, to let Piastri understand the car before next season

This doesn't look like a tractor

  • What are the chances they send the old version (with the Pirelli branding)?

The listing photos shows Pirelli, but it could just be old photos that haven’t been updated.

    • Probably won't help but I got this deal not so long ago…
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/708242

It was Pirelli but I don't even know what that means..I was assuming it would be Pirelli stamped into the tyres themselves. Just a lame sticker. Was there an earlier version that went for the more realistic text on a tyre option?

      • Nah, apparently they didn't actually have permission to use the pirelli name so new sets come with an unbranded wheel decal https://youtu.be/7SNN0mu0W3s?t=69

edit: i also got that previous deal and it came with the pirelli design

      • My previous big W set was with Pirelli branding. Looks so much better than that blank McLaren design.

    • My one from Big W about a month ago was Pirelli branding but it had a big stanley knife slash through the top of the box. Of course, i had stacked a promo with upsized cashback so i decided not to risk the cashback being denied and didn't return it.

  • Really need to stop checking Ozbargain so often with all these Lego deals lately…
