Crazy that a mug costs $15, but not so crazy that it's now on clearance.

    • +20

the mug doesn't cost $15, the logo does.

      • +1

        The mug does cost $15.
It costs that much because of the logo on it (and the box it's in)

        • +3

But how do you know? If its in the box?

          Schrödinger's mug.

          • +2

@Skinnerr: The box has a window, you can see inside the box and observe the mug.

        • Don’t forget cost of shipping from China

      • people who always buy a mug less than $5 think like this LOL.

    • The mug doesn't cost $15. As OP says, it's a $0 mug, the price tag is just there to add perceived value to the freebie. Anyone stupid enough to pay $15 hasn't read the terms and conditions.

  • +24

    it's still too much for $2 …

    • +23

Kmart has plain mugs for $1. Starbucks should pay the user for the advertising.

      • -3

You get $1 cashback for every Starbuck mug you get. How does that sound ;)

      • Do they come with a cardboard box like the ones in the picture? Packaging is important …. isn't it ? ;)

  • +14

    Starbucks closing down sale

    • Woolworths would collapse long before Starbucks

  • Is it a good mug? If it's good then idc about the logo

    • +7

If it wasn't for that official logo, no one would care for that mug.

  • +1

There is like no stock anywhere… And no one at Safeways even know about this promo. I've tried heaps of stores to buy it for me and a friend.

  • I also wonder which woolies store this one is in the picture . When i tried early on at start of promo, no one in my local store knew where these mugs were .

    • +2

As per attached receipt: Bass Hill, NSW.

  • +4

Is the mug as horrible as starbucks coffee?

    • +4

      Couldn't be that bad.

    • +4

Why would anyone stir their coffee with a toilet brush!???

      • Ever heard of Luwak coffee? the right tool for it … lol

  • +1

    Does anyone actually like Starbucks?

    • +2

      Americans. Nuff said.

      • The worst part is Star Bucks is some of the better coffee shops in America relative to the rest 🤢

  • +2

They expect us to pay them $15 for free advertising?

  • +2

Aldi also has $2 licensed mugs on clearance (space invaders, transformers, mr mens, tonka, etc). They’re from fathers day so it has the #1 dad printed on one side.

    • Can confirm. My local ALDI has them markdown to $1.99, but wasn't much left.

  • +3

I genuinely hate Starbucks. Shouldn’t even exist in Australia, we have decent coffee.

    • +2

Not sure if you've been lately but they've got a model for their coffee and it obviously works as theres always a massive line thats much more popular than the local coffee shops. So something is working.

      • -1

      • +2

        So something is working.

Marketing is working. People are sheep.
Some might say it's about the experience

      • +2

Everyone in my work that I've ever seen with a Starbucks coffee has no idea about coffee, they just use it to wake up. And that's fine, it's their money, they can do what they want. But don't try to persuade me with this "they've got a model for their coffee" bullcrap. If you want to drink a pumpkin spice venti latte or whatever they sell, you go for it. I drank it once in America based on the recommendation of my cousin who lived there and it was horrid in every way!

        • +2

          What’s your preferred coffee?

        • -1

    • +3

They dont really sell coffee. They would be the equivalent of chatime selling tea, which we know barely resembles tea. Its not aimed for the traditional drinkers but rather the drinks with a twist

    • +3

Then just don't visit them? You don't have to like or use everything that exists

      • +1

But the internet is for me to complain in anonymity!

    • You dislike their coffee, but why do you hate them?

      • +1

Because they typify the Americanisation of our great nation. The Americans sell us terrible coffee through cheesy branding crap. Don't get me wrong, it's fine if their product is better, but it's not. It just signifies how stupid and gullible we are.

        • +2

Then tell our brands to improve their branding, marketing, and interior design.

          • @Nillionaire: Nah, I'd rather they focus on their coffee not on cheesy branding. I can't drink the branding, I can only drink the coffee.

        • Are you aware that we follow the US brainlessly like a fly on turd? Look up Pine Gap, its a surveillance facility on Australian soil that Aussies are not allowed to access. When they want to make money off us through selling subs, we renege on an existing signed contract with the French as if a contract means nothing. Our foreign policy is basically just a copy of what Americans need us to think. With all of that out of the way, your concern is with a well known coffee chain?

  • +1

Can't find stock at my local store. Also cannot check stock online :(

  • Starbucks have plenty of decent coffee options, in the US at least, assuming the same here. Single origin, nitro cold brew, and all the fancy sugary concoctions.

However, I'd rather support the locally owned businesses.

This is why I keep praising Harvey Norman. Why do people insist on waiting for Amazon to price beat etc. is beyond me.

      • This is why I keep praising Harvey Norman.

        Username checks out

  • Not my cup of tea

  • -1

Just bought 5 from my local coles

    • Coles?

      • Yes they had a huge stack next to Starbucks coffee pods.

  • +1

This one might be store specific. Seems the cups at my local are still $15. Does anyone have a photo of the barcode to confirm?

  • I just try to get one at $2 as OP said, just didnt work at my WW

  • Still scanning @ $15 in Bathurst

    • +1

Same here, but showed this post to a staff member and she put it through for two bucks. Well I didn’t show her, this missus did 🤷‍♂️ I was surprised that’s all it took.
