      welp, basically selling your information.

      • +4

Yep. Hopefully it's worth the $100.

        • +3

Good call out and thank you for your services to the community Lord Fart Bucket. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

      • That's quite disturbing. Normally there's a limiting qualifier like "to the extent we need to provide you with services" to cover outsourced admin.

    • +4

Excellent callout. Won't be selling my info for $100. The OP will now suddenly go quiet and not respond to this.

      • +8

We take data privacy very seriously and don’t sell your data

But you give yourself the option to do so, to whomever you want, wherever you want.

          • +13

@Manyo: True. But it also includes a lot of other organisations/individuals that have nothing to do with exetel.

            • @Lord Fart Bucket: i got the 2 $50 vouchers of woolies, if i knew that, they do this kind of stuff, would have never gone with them, too late now

    • +1

      wow, this guy T&Cs

  • +5

I got this plan last month after it was posted here by Manyo. Obviously need to wait the 3 months before I get the Woollies Giftcard, but so far so good. We have the 50/20 plan that costs $53.95 (for first 6 months), it appears to be faster and more stable than my previous 50/20 plan with Superloop. Small caveat being that I did upgrade my WiFi router around the same time so it may be a confounding factor. Either way our current experience is better than with Superloop or iiNet before them, we are very happy.

Something not mentioned that I found interesting is that Exetel offer 5x24 hr speed boosts per month that you can activate or bank (upto a max of 30 speed boosts banked). The speed boost bumps you up to the next tier NBN plan for 24 hours. I haven't had to use it yet as the current speed is so good. Would be useful if you do big downloads periodically or need a better connection when you have multiple devices in use. Its a nice free Bonus!

    • do you have issues with VPNs? in one of the other threads for the discounted exetel deal people said they have issues with VPNs. I need to connect up to one for work and dont want any hassles.

      • +1

I have no issue with my Getflix Lifetime Subscription VPN on Exetel.

      • Sorry I don't have a VPN.

      • No problem at all with work VPN. Same with my brother that uses a different VPN technology with his work.
In case there's a CGNAT issue interfering with VPN, very easy to opt out via the portal (unlike ABB that makes you contact them to opt out..)

    • For anyone thinking to sign up, the plan and speed from Exetel is good, but don’t handover your personal details to Econnex, not worth $100, instead just sign up directly with Exetel.

I wouldn’t have done it if I had realised that my data was not directly going to Exetel but via Econnex.

  • +3

Customers who have signed up through Econnex Comparison during the last 6 months, will not be eligible for this offer.
If Eligible, Recipients will receive $100 gift card by email up to 90-120 days after you have successfully activated your service.
If your broadband service is cancelled within the first 30 days the transaction would be deemed invalid and you will not be eligible to receive the offer.

  • +10

Privacy policy blatantly points out that they won't hesitate to sell our sensitive/private info in return for $100. That's a clear neg from me.

  • +9

Please no. Dont sell your information for 100$. Might look tempting but not worth it imo.

  • +7

My personal info is worth more than $100. Think VERY carefully before you hand it over.

  • +2

    These guys are shady AF.

Do not give them your real name or ID info.

Furthermore, what the OP never mentions in the description or in the title that these are 2x $50 promo GCs with a 3-month expiry.

Some of you will smash out $100 in less than a month if you do most of your shopping at WW.

On the other hand, a lot of us here spread our shopping across multiple retailers (i.e. whoever has the best points offer).

    • -2

DoctorCalculon, Gift cards have 3-month expiry, and it is clearly mentioned in our fine prints, kindly read the T&Cs.

      • +8

        Gift cards have 3-month expiry

        Ahem:

        Three-year minimum expiry period
The law requires that most gift cards or vouchers be sold with a mandatory minimum expiry period of three years. The period begins from the date a gift card is sold to a consumer. Businesses can choose to apply an expiry period longer than three years and no maximum expiry period applies.

So, what you are providing is either NOT a gift card, or you are breaking the law. Which is it?

        • +1

They're not being "sold" so this law does not apply.

          • +7

@ESEMCE: And they previously referred to it as store credit vouchers. Gift card is misleading.

            • +4

@Lord Fart Bucket: This just keeps getting dodgier & dodgier. I wouldn't touch these Econnex clowns with a 10ft pole.

            • -1

@Lord Fart Bucket: Dear Lord Fart Bucket, as per the Australian consumer law, gift cards that are provided as part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B). are excluded from the minimum expiry requirements and referred as Bonus store gift cards.

              • +5

@Manyo: 3 months woolworths gift card is a bit dodgy as on woolworths website it says:

Woolworths Gift Cards and eGift Cards sold online and in store after 31 March 2018 will have no expiry date, even if they are pre-printed with a shorter expiry period

                https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/medias/woolworths-gift-c…

when Econnex buy Woolworths Gift Cards from woolworths either online or in store, woolworths should give Econnex no expiry date gift card.

              • @Manyo: part of a temporary marketing promotion (e.g. customers buy a certain product from Business A, which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B)

Does this clause apply to Econnex?

We buy internet from Business A (Exetel), which provides a $50 voucher to use at Business B (woolworths), then Econnex is business C, where is business C (Econnex) stated on the clause?

                https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…

  • I am currently on Superloop and previously got the 2x$50 gift cards from a previous Econnex promotion. Am I eligible for another 2x$50 if I switch to Exetel via Econnex @Manyo?

    • Hey CVonC, can you please confirm when was the last time you signed up with Econnex, As per our terms customers who have signed up through Econnex Comparison during the last 6 months, will not be eligible for this offer.

      • +1

Signed up to ANYTHING through Econnex? So if I changed power through you guys, I couldn't do this for internet now..?

        • Hey kudoz, if you have signed up for power through Econnex then you are eligible for the Broadband switch.

      • Is that the date of my Superloop activation or the date when I signed up?

        • @Manyo

        • If Eligible, Recipients will receive $100 gift card by email up to 90-120 days after you have successfully activated your service( date of your Superloop activation).

          • @Manyo: That doesn't answer my initial question…
But don't worry I can't have the service activated by 31 October anyway.

            • @CVonC: Hey mate, in order to be eligible for this offer, your broadband service must be activated by 31st Oct 2022 to be eligible for this offer.

  • Thanks OP! Was looking for a cheaper deal.

  • -4

Alot of wannabe pretend lawyers here.

    As usual.

  • Does it work if i am not switching just a new service?

    • Hey fullmetal, can you please elaborate on your query??

  • I received my 100$ gift cards in less than 3 months, no dramas.
    Thank you Manyo and Econnex.

    • how many calls you received ?

  • +1

I got this deal from last time, got exetel connected around mid July. Yesterday I got the $100 woolies gift cards.

  • Signed up with More Telecom through Econnex on 27th June and got a confirmation email. But I still have not received the $100 gift card.

    • +1

Hey radienarya, Eligible recipients will receive $100 gift card by email up to 90-120 days after you have successfully activated your service.
Kindly note, If your broadband service is cancelled within the first 30 days the transaction would be deemed invalid and you will not be eligible to receive the offer.

      • Thank you Manyo!

    • And thank you for the heads up regarding the comments that the Woolworths gift card only 3 months of expiry. This wasn't well communicated and its obvious people might forget to use it immediately.

  • +10

    Your data is NOT safe.
Signed up to this and was due the voucher after 90 days of exetel.
Multiple emails sent, no gift card.
Instead by mistake they emailed an .xls file containing 766 records of customers including name, email, amount due and live link to their gift card.
I immediately notified [email protected] and the Australian Cyber Security Centre. Both responded very quickly.
Woolworths requested I delete the data which I have, per conditions of their email policy in their footer.
They’ve since issued the gift cards (double the value)
Definitely feels like they’re playing fast and loose

    • +4

Hi Sapiens, thank you for taking the requested actions on this. In this case, it was a clerical error from our gift card distributor Woolworths and not a result of Econnex sharing or distributing customers' data without consent.
Econnex also has taken every precaution to ensure this is not repeated and the gift card distributor has also taken remediation steps for affected customers.

      • 👍🏻

    • -1

      @Sapiens
Seems like you need to revoke the Neg based on the response from Manyo and the fact you kinda knew this was a Woolies issue by nature of the fact you emailed [email protected]

      • Need?

        • -2

You've implied that Econnex are playing "fast and loose" yet, this appears to be factually incorrect and you appear to have been fully aware that it was not Econnex's problem at all.
And if not previously fully aware, then certainly your confidence level must surely have been increased past the point of reasonable deniability.

Yeah, I'd say "Need" is applicable to maintain some level of integrity on your behalf.

  • Can I select a future date for the service to start?

  • Hey deals4amar, Your broadband service must be activated by 31st Oct 2022 to be eligible for this offer.

  • +1

You are probably better off going for the Cashrewards $50 Exetel deal, than risking this one.

    • Need to remain connected for 3 months for cashrewards deal versus not cancel within 30 days for this deal - too long for some.

  • +1

Super Dodgy company! I switched my gas and electricity supplier to Alinta during their Feb22 "promotion"… never ever received my Wooli Gift card. I called to follow up and they "blamed" me for NOT FOLLOWING the link…I wished I took a photo during sign up…. first time and last time for me to deal with a dodgy company and unprofessional Customer service who doesn't recall your calls..

  • Never sell your info for 100 dollars lmao

  • Avoid Econnex! I switched to Exetel with the last deal and never got my gift card.

Not only is this a scam, their Ts & Cs is atrocious!

    • Hi There, can you please DM me with your details and reference number to follow this up for you

  • Hi Manyo, is there any deal for switching to MORE coming up soon? Thanks.

  • +1

Is it possible to request for deletion of all data shared?

    • Hi JasonDough, yes if you would like to have you details deleted you can email us at [email protected]

      • How would we know if the data is actually deleted?

        • It might be deleted from their system… but then what about all those places it has been sold to?

    • Haha good one! Once the details are sold to third parties, they won't care. How else are they affording to give out $100 gift cards?

  • @Manyo I signed up yesterday afternoon and selected to activate asap, I was impressed that the service was activated at 8:30pm. Now I have a problem - when I called my current service provide - TPG this morning for cancellation, they said I need to provide written notice of cancellation 30 days prior, which means I need to pay for double internet fees for both companies for a month. Is it possible that Exetel can put my account on hold until 14 Oct? Will I lose the discount and the $100 gift card if I do so?

    • The change has already been made though… you can't delay something that has already occurred.

For your future reference Exetel apply the same 30 notice for disconnection.
So when you net jump ISP's remember to do so at least 30 days after you notify Exetel that you will be disconnecting.

      • Thanks mate

    • Hey xwan48, kindly call Exetel directly and confirm if they can hold off your connection for this month, as your services with Exetel are already connected, kindly share your reference number, in order to investigate further.

  • I used these Econnex to signup for my energy provider back in June. Is there any way to opt-out my data at any point?

    • Hey bk1973, Customers who have signed up with broadband/NBN connection through Econnex Comparison during the last 6 months, will not be eligible for this offer, as you mentioned that you have switched your energy provider you are eligible for this offer.

      • I wasn't asking about being eligible. I want Econnex to stop using my data. Is there a time limit on how long you use it? Do I need to contact consumers affair victoria?

  • I just went to use my gift cards and both are coming up as cancelled. Hmm.

    • Hey stratbargain, kindly DM us your reference number, in order to track you application.

    • Same. Did you get it resolved?

      • +1

I DM'd @Manyo and they were helpful in confirming it was an error and said the new cards would be reissued in a couple of days. I've however yet to receive them but I'll give it another day or two before chasing it up.

      • Just confirming I received updated cards. Thanks @Manyo

        • Ditto.

          • @Reveen: I'll add these went through after I contacted Econnex directly.

  • I had signed up with Superloop via Econnex last time:

    Sign up date: 23/3/2022
    Activation date: 29/3/2022

am i eligible for this? what if i set the activation date after 23rd Sept?

    • @Manyo

    • Hey avitherock, yes you will be eligible for the offer, if you choose your activation date after 23rd sept.

      • @Manyo - even though previous activation date was 29th march?

        • +1

Hey mate, according to our T&Cs, Customers who have signed up with broadband/NBN connection through Econnex Comparison during the last 6 months( from the activation date), will not be eligible for this offer.

As you have been our loyal customer We can offer you a buffer of 6 days, that won't be an issue, so yes you will be eligible for the offer even though previous activation date was 29th march.

          • @Manyo: thanks for the confirmation

          • @Manyo: I have just signed up with activation date set for 27th September. Reference #1663309134

            • +1

@avitherock: Hey mate, your application has been successfully submitted to the retailer and you will receive a $100 gift card by email up to 90-120 days after you have successfully activated your service, you will receive the confirmation email stating the same too.
