On fire with your useless comments tonight.

    Wow, Zip still exists…

    • +11

Barely. I own Zip shares, dreamt to become a millionaire one day. But if I sell them shares now, I could buy a kilo of broccoli… and yes at broccoli prices now, not when it was really high!

      • +4

Sell the lot before your broccoli vanishes into thin air

      • Zip were giving a 10% cashback on purchases for a while.
I remember as I was rorting it up to my weekly cap and wishing for more.
Zip were literally throwing away money.
What inspired you to buy the shares?

      • Och that hurts, 90% down. Should probably pull out and get that broccoli. Don't see it going up anytime soon. Only see it going down

        • +1

Thanks. Taking this as a personal advice

      • Im one of the HODL with Zip shares :/ what a joke.

        • +1

Hang in there. No doubt another company will come along with an offer if things don't improve.

      • Would you buy zip today? If not sell what you have.

        • +1

Not much point, worth so little….

      • I'm the same. I'm going to sit on them anyway. Maybe one day in 10 years they will bump to $2 lmao

  • +11

Not as good as just buying 10% off TCN gift cards…

    • Need a hack to stack.

  • Need a jb storewide 10% off

  • includes gift cards?

    • I mean apple gift card?

    • +1

      Excludes gift cards

      Says in the catalogue.

      • -1

        I mean apple gift card?

      • Is there anyway of zip knowing?

        • +1

Will likely just block the transaction from going through? I know that afterpay does that so I assume the same for zip

  • +2

Still need to redeem in lots of $30?

    • Yeah, that is the catch with using Zip

    • +3

It's $20 now and has been for a while, so $100 will be fully redeemable at once.

      • Fair enough $20 easier to do - haven’t used zip since their last blanket super Saturday years ago

      • Can you elaborate on this? So the $100 won’t just reduce how much you owe?

        • +2

You will pay $1000, will get $100 as Reward, you will apply that $100 against your Balance Payment of $1000 and will have to pay $900 effectively.

It won't apply automatically or reduce the amount automatically. Redemption is in the increments of $20, lets say you accumulate $110, you can only apply $100 against balance payment and has to buy more things via zip to make that $10 become $20 to redeem

  • +1

Jb basically have no sales right now. Or close enough. 10% isn't going to fix it.

  • How do you get even accepted for $1,000 on zip? Guess they don't give it to the ones who pay on time

    • +1

I'm earning well into the 6 figures and was only able to get $350 from zip.
A friend earning about 75% less than my wage was able to get $1000.

      • +2

I guess sometimes it does pay to be poor

      • +12

        Unemployed and got $2k

      • +6

You'd be owning multiple other credit cards and other credit lines too, that poor guys earning 75% less of your 6 figure, probably has very little credit cards if any,

      • A credit check could be why you could only get $350 from Zip?

    • +2

No idea how any of these providers determine limits. Ive signed up to a few for different deals.

My zip limit is $2k. Started at $1500.

My afterpay has a $3k limit. Not sure what it started at. Never even gone over $1k..no idea who would ever need that much of a limit.

Then i have latitude pay with a $200 limit. Been frozen a few times on me for paying it off immediately too. So i assume my limits low because i actually pay it off? But i pay them all off asap so it doesnt hurt the other accounts.

      • Been frozen a few times on me for paying it off immediately too.

Heard afterpay does this too. Dunno if zip does, because it's not automatic payments

        • I pay many of mine off with Afterpay well before the automatic deductions, I've never been frozen.

        • Zip doesn't, it's more or less like a credit card these days

    • It's inversely proportional to your income.

This might be useful if someone wants Surface pro which is currently on special but not as good as before when SP7+ was sub $800 including the keyboard.

  • Do you need to generate a 1 time barcode for this?

I wanna get some gift cards but I am not sure if this will apply?

    • 1 time barcode

No, there's no barcodes in the Crap pay system, That's only afterpay. In Crap pay its usually best to pay using the card added to the wallet (apple or google), OR better often use one time disposable card

      • Zip pay also has one time in-store barcodes/6 digit code to scan give at register

Found this out accidentally with the last promotion, but if you refund the item, the bonus payment doesn’t tend to get reversed. Just FYI..

    • A few years ago I got a load of bonus's from transactions that declined. They never reversed either.

    • Yes you could end up getting a negative balance. It's ridiculous.

  • I know the terms & conditions state excluding gift cards, but is there any way of zip knowing you are purchasing $1000 worth of apple gift cards for example?

    • try that out tomorrow then tell us hhahaha

      • Yep

        • Anyone tried out yet?

  • +1

Last two zip deals similiar for this have been able to spin up a single use card and checkout with that, has usually worked instantly.
Will try myself tomorrow with the 1k

    • Have you tried it yet?

      • +1

        yes mate confirmed ok

  • Any other companies have disposable single use credit cards other than zip and revolute ?

    • Wise, you just need to manually terminate

    • these two are generally better ones, revolut is slight better IMO. given their CS is better, and various other factors

  • Zip and afterpay are going on the trash heap
The original owners made their killing and jumped ship
Theres only so much money you can pull out of poor people

  • Are we automatically eligible by default, dont need to activate an offer or something? just walking into jbhifi spend 1k and I'll be credited my 100 cash back?

    Thanks

  • I owe $1000, does that count?

  • I can’t find this on Zip’s app. So I’m a bit reluctant to spend and not having it tracked :(

Anyone has done it and get the redemption working for $100?

    • I think is offer is not targeted

    • +1

I found it on the app - on the home page below "Rewards balance" is "Get the most from Zip", and the 2nd box underneath that is "ZipFest is live". Click that, and scroll down, and you'll find it under "Zip's top picks".

      • I can’t find Zipfest on the App :(

        Could this be targeted?

        • That's odd. I don't think it is targeted. What do you see under "Get the most from Zip" on the home page?

  • +4

Just bought 1k jb gift cards (2x500) single transaction and got the $100 instantly

Opened chrome, generated single use card, paid with it.
Didn't use the browser in the zip app itself they might be able to track what you bought

  • Cheers for that. Was looking for the best deal to buy an iphone 14. Paid $1000 through zip, and the rest with JB hi-fi gift cards. Got the cashback instantly. $110 saving off a brand new phone, can't complain with that :)

  • Would this work with the bonus $350 on phone trade ins on an S22? Apparently that is paid as a voucher

    i.e. app offers $200 for my wifes s20, + $350 bonus + $100 cashback paid on zip.

  • I have a credit on my Zip App… around $40 for a refund from Qantas for a cancelled flight. Any way to get this back to my bank account or spend it somewhere worthwhile? I tried to buy discounted gift cards on the Woolworths website with the single use card but that was rejected.

I might try ShopBack and see if that works.

Also does anyone know if you cancel your Zip account, will you be able to open another one in future?
